22.01.2022 #WelcomeToTheTeamLance #NewArtsworker #MardbalkArtsAndCulture would like to welcome our newest team member, Lance Djumbala. Lance is an enthusiastic emerging artist who has taken up carving as his speciality. The art centre has already been collecting Lance's artworks for a solo exhibition, and he will now be able to participate in all aspects of curating and documenting his own stories. ... Lance will also be supporting local artists, with James and Jeffrey, and will hopefully be able to engage and encourage more of our youth and younger adults into the arts.

21.01.2022 This is a fantastic find! We will be putting the pieces into our display cabinet in the gallery, so everyone can come in and look at them.

20.01.2022 The previous post below by ANKA doesn't seem to be posting, so I have screen shots below of the post. #BushTrips #FamilyTime #Hunting #William #MakingTheMostOfLockdown... Many family groups have been enjoying the time to go camping and going on bush trips to collect art materials and bush tucker.

17.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone!

16.01.2022 We are mourning the loss of one of our team members, an artsworker, artist and Director, and remembering him and his many legacies. He was an inspirational gentleman, who will never be forgotten by all those who knew him. * There are several photos and videos taken of his funeral ceremony that can be viewed on the Yagbani Aboriginal Corporation Facebook page. #RestInPeaceOldman

14.01.2022 One of Australia's leading Indigenous Intellectual Property Lawyers says a move by the US retailer Urban Outfitters to replicate a remote Northern Territory artist's design is "wrong". The design, 'Watiya Tjuta' by Mitjili Napurrula, depicts the making of spears, a sacred aspect of men's business. Last week, social media users pointed out that a rug from Urban Outfitters' online store looked similar to the painting.... Following a number of posts questioning the likeness, the retailer removed the product. * Images in comments.

13.01.2022 Our thoughts and sympathy to to family and friends of the Old Man. He was a great inspiration and mentor to Mardbalk artists and Artsworkers. A great loss to the arts world, but his artwork lives on. Rest in peace

01.01.2022 #MardbalkBuilding #Flooding #NotAgain! After constant heavy rains last night, the Mardbalk building was found to be flooded this morning. It wasn't as bad, or the water as high, as the last time it flooded, but the mud/silt and water is not easily removed from all the nooks and crannies, and will take much time and sweat to clear. . . Luckily many of the artworks were put up off the floor already.... The Yagbani and Mardbalk teams have all pulled together for the clean-up, and building a temporary sandbank behind the building to stop the flowing water coming in. A huge thank you to all those helping.
