01.01.2022 There has been some sad news received. Yesterday Svitzer Tug Engineer Mick Reddy died on board his tug in Koolan Island. 54 years of age, Mick had recently joined AIMPE when he gained work with Svitzer following the re-opening of the iron ore mine earlier this year. Chris Blackmore who worked opposite Mick has described him as a dedicated, hard-working engineer who was a pleasure to work with . Micks routine was usually to turn to for morning coffee at 0600 with the skipper ...on the bridge. It was there that he apparently had a heart attack and slumped over. Despite extended attempts at CPR his crewmates could not bring him around. Mick lived in Darwin. See more
