20.01.2022 The Marion Tennis Club is on the lookout for women’s players of all ages and abilities for Saturday spring and summer tennis. Awesome social atmosphere. 17.01.2022 A great start to the season for Marion senior tennis with 4 of our 6 teams winning first up and all teams really competitive. The defending premier D1 Men wasted no time asserting themselves on the challengers with 6-0 win at West Lakes first up. Steve ‘Fish’ Beckley showed the benefits of a big pre-season, while Nasser Hassein - aka Justin Tredwell - was on fire with his down the line backhands. The Morgan brothers - of the Kym and Mark variety - did it the hard way winning... all matches 9-8. D6 men got off to a great start @ Peake Gardens Riverside with a 5-3 win. Club debutants Goran Dedic and Josh Tonkin showed they will be great acquisitions with solid singles wins. Paul ‘The Wall’ Morgan returned to the club and took off from where he left off with a ruthless 6-0 win, and teamed up with his partner-in-crime Tony Davey for a good doubles win. D8 men were the beneficiaries of a forfeit. They’ll take it. The D10 men’s Marion-MP team made a great first up appearance after joining the club during the off season with a strong 6-2 win at Dover Square. All 4 players - Phil Slattery, Kevin Heffernan, Tom Blight, and Graham Lovell - contributed. A special mention to our new D5 ladies side who were brilliant in a narrow defeat at Woodville-Orion. All of the girls were on debut for Marion. Great first up singles wins for Liz Hearn, and Julia Wallace. Super first up efforts by Daze Chenoweth, April Mears, and Melinda Szabo. D9 men went down 7-2 to a very strong Southbank. Well done to Nigel Dally for a strong first up win. All 6 teams at home this week. It will be a great atmosphere. Pizza and drinks to follow the late matches at 6:30pm families welcome. Let’s make it a big turn out.
