29.01.2022 Today was all about education with a masterclass on Chapman’s Reflexes. I was lucky enough to a course with Your Musculoskeletal Specialist via Zoom in one of Melbourne’s loooong lockdowns. Today was great to get some hands on work, putting into practice what has already been learned and picking up some new information along the way I’m always appreciative of being able to do face to face training these days, all of course, in a covid safe manner And do you know what the best thing about going to a hands on course in our industry? It’s that you get to use the new skills immediately within your clinic, but the fact you get to have a treatment all throughout the day is definitely a bonus too

24.01.2022 Isn’t it time to go local?

23.01.2022 Lie on your stomach with your arms at your side. Lift your head and chest off the mat; hold your glutes tight and squeeze your shoulder blades together. Hold briefly and return to starting position. Repeat 10-20 times.

22.01.2022 Over the past few years I’ve been lucky enough to spend this time travelling overseas. This year, it’s a little closer... some would say just like home Needless to say, the fact we can travel more than 5km radius away seems like an upgrade in any case. For those that have been following the cygnets around Williamstown, how much have they grown?!... I’m looking forward to do some days trips around the area. Any recommendations? See more

22.01.2022 And just like that *finger click* I was invited to become a Fellow of ATMS. What does that actually mean? For clients it means that you are with a practitioner who has spent over 10 years of dedication and support to the association, with hundreds of hours of further education above and beyond their original certification and thousands of treatments provided. This is my 20th year of being a massage therapist. What a doozy it’s been! I can’t imagine stopping any time soo...n. It’s true what they say, choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life. See more

22.01.2022 This weekend Im socially distancing myself (with family) in a beautiful part of the world, Phillip Island. I actually used to live here, but havent been back since we left 8 years ago. Time flies! I hope your weekend, so far, has been relaxing Its been good to get out and walk in a different area for a change. #PhillipIsland

21.01.2022 The tibia, commonly known as the shin bone, is the second largest bone in the human body (the largest being the femur). The main function of the tibia is to distribute weight across the knee and ankle. Shin splints or tibial pain syndrome is often an umbrella term that can incorporate one of the following:... medial tibial stress syndrome tibial stress fractures compartment syndrome Common causes of shin splints are: increasing your intensity and/or length of exercise running - either a beginner or your terrain is uneven or hard (like concrete) flat feet or a rigid arch poorly fitted or improper footwear The general rule of thumb is if you suspect you have shin splints, don’t exercise through the pain. Swap your high impact exercise to cycling or swimming to allow time to heal. Treatment in clinic can involve traditional massage techniques as well as the use of cupping, IASTM and kinesiology tape. 21.01.2022 Im back on deck tomorrow and feeling quite relaxed and ready to take on the new week. Its amazing what a quick getaway can do for you! #PhillipIsland truly is a beautiful part of the world.

21.01.2022 What an absolutely stunning, still and sunny morning here at #WilliamstownBeach. There’s nothing better than the smell of the salt air and people recreating without their masks on. Is it just me, or is anyone else feeling a little naked when you get to go out and about, safely social distancing of course, without one? /

20.01.2022 This week is Women's Health Week and today is R U OK Day. Now more than ever we encourage you not to skip seeing your healthcare professionals. Women are great ...at putting themselves last but you can't help others when you don't have the energy, nourishment, adequate sleep or movement. If you can't see your healthcare provider face-to-face right now many are offering telehealth appointments so you can speak to your practitioner in a virtual consultation. Also, as part of R U OK? Day, make sure you check in with others and your own mental health. In what is an extremely stressful time please reach out to your healthcare practitioner if you are struggling. There are many strategies that can help to look after your mental health.

19.01.2022 Many of the truths we cling to depend on our point of view - Obi-Wan Kenobi May the fourth be with you! Today, if you haven’t already guessed, is Star Wars Day. If you’re not feeling out of this world, why not change the way you feel and schedule a massage?... See more

19.01.2022 Great news Melbourne! Our restrictions are being modified again and we’re that much closer to being Covid Normal. What does that mean in clinic? If you’ve visited the clinic within the past 6 months, you’ll recognise there isn’t any changes to what you have been used to. Masks are to be worn indoors (including during treatment)... Our Covid Safe Policy is still in place within the clinic Additional time between appointments to allow for the necessary cleaning & sanitising are being utilised Hand sanitation is a requirement upon entering the clinic, with various hand sanitisers and hand washing facilities available for use A big shout out to everyone that’s been to the clinic during this time. As a practitioner, I really appreciate how everyone has complied to the, now not so new, rules of mask wearing, completion of Covid questionnaires and slight change in the opening times to accomodate the extra time between appointments. You may as well say 2020 was a big learning curve for us all. Again, thank you! See more

17.01.2022 Some people are born artists When completing your intake form, there is a section that requests that you indicate the area on the diagram that gives you pain/discomfort. I’ve seen everything from the entire body coloured in red, a big circle around the body to crosses and arrows decoratively adorning their figure. Here’s to your week feeling better than the diagram indicates! If it isn’t, there’s always massage

17.01.2022 This pic is deceiving, but it looked as though everyone was out and about along the foreshore in Williamstown today. Dont let those little niggles turn into something more substantial, book online or contact the clinic directly.

13.01.2022 The clinic has been re-opened now for 6 weeks and weve all become accustomed to our new normal. Theres been changes to how all businesses operate, and everyone is doing their best to adapt and comply. Here are some of the ways the clinic is making sure the risk of COVID-19 is minimised: Hand sanitiser/hand washing facilities... They are available for all. We ask that you utilise one of these options on entry to the clinic. Social distancing in waiting rooms Chairs have been removed to comply. Also, due to the larger buffer time between appointments, there is less likelihood of client crossover in the waiting room. Freshly laundered towels Thankfully this is NOT new and it certainly hasnt changed. Every single person who has a treatment in the clinic gets an entire new set of laundered towels. They have always been laundered to standard and continue to do so. The main difference is that no other linen is kept in the treatment room, clean or used. The warming pad is back on the table! Thats right, its back and the table and is covered with a non-porous, waterproof cover that allows disinfecting and sanitising between every use. Purifas Face Shield These are used on the face cradle and they fully cover the face hole and entire facial surface. They are moisture repellent to reduce the likelihood of bacteria transfer. Oil Warmer This is a recent new addition and everyone has been a fan so far. There is definitely something soothing about the massage medium being warm prior to application. Thats easy in summer, not so much in winter The Buffer At this stage, there is still a 30min buffer between each client. This allows plenty of time for following the sanitising and disinfecting protocol. Blankets There is always a blanket available for those who need a little more warmth. Like the towels, they are single use only and laundered after each client to standard. Id like to thank my clients for adapting to the changes as theyve happened. Its certainly been a learning journey for all of us! See more

11.01.2022 Leave work at work... perhaps not so easy when working from home. Producing a report whilst slouching on the lounge may sound comfortable, but youre not doing your neck/back any favours, especially if the position you take for that report turns into a more permanent solution. 10.01.2022 Lets talk about stress. Most people that have come into the clinic of late are feeling it, and I am definitely feeling it in their neck and shoulders! Just remember, whilst mental health and physical health are often talked about separately, they do have an impact on each other. Poor mental health can negatively impact physical health and poor physical health can negatively impact mental health. Stress does affect us all, the good and bad types. ... Sometimes the best thing we can do is share our experience and talk to someone, whether thats a friend, a colleague or a trained professional. See more

10.01.2022 Yesterday there was announcement by the Victorian Government regarding the changes in restrictions. This has been welcome news for many people, with the curfew being lifted and rules around food shopping relaxed a little and some industries either going back to work again or being able to operate with more employees. But what does it mean for remedial massage? The current recommendation is that AHPRA registered allied health practitioners can engage with some face to f...ace consultations from today. Remedial massage/myotherapy is NOT included in this change. I can’t wait to get back to hands on treating either, but not until it’s safe and appropriate to do so. If we all keep doing what we’re doing, it could mean further announcements may bring the road map timeline forward. 01.01.2022 This was one of those times that a client asked, kinda joking, but kinda not. Remember, don’t be afraid to ask your practitioner about any aspect of your treatment, even if you are curious to know if we duck off to get a cup of herbal tea and a biscuit mid way through your session The simple answer is no, just because you may fall asleep on the table, it doesn’t mean that your hands on session stops. There may be times where your practitioner needs verbal feedback regard...ing a specific question, or to gently ask you to turn over, but more often than not, if you nod off during your allotted appointment time, you get to enjoy that time out. I will admit, I had a regular who regularly fell asleep on the table and would snore like nobodies business. It wasn’t the fact they fell asleep, or even snored, it was the fact that the treatment was never in any way shape or form relaxing, always pure remedial with firm pressure (as they requested). When you’re in the clinic, your treatment time is yours, if you want to chill out and snooze or chat about your day or a mix of both, know they are all valid choices See more

31.10.2021 I’m busting out! It will be covid situation normal! Well, at least situation normal as it can be. Here’s just a list of things to remember when you come in exclude yourself from attending if you have any cold/flu/covid symptoms. Please remember, whilst I am currently waiving cancellation fees for last minutes cancellations due to illness, I have people on my wait list keen for an appointment, I do appreciate as much notice as possible to fill your vacant appointment wear a mask during your time in the clinic, inclusive of when you are getting a treatment use hand sanitiser on arrival/departure socially distance whilst you are within the clinic central areas Maskey Massage provides the same high level of covid safe hygiene practices that it always has, this includes things like using an air purifier and C02 meter within the treatment room to make sure that ventilation is kept at an acceptable level ShieldMe from NANOFRONT as a TGA approved covid 19 infection control spray Purifas face shield on the head cradle which has been clinically proven to be more hygienic than standard head rest covers Clinic Armour covers on the table and pillows to protect the surfaces from constant cleaning Needless to say, I am excited to be back on deck and have even celebrated by cutting my nails back See more

Wishing you all good health and may the covid odds be ever in your favour See more
