16.01.2022 Today is RU OK Day which is our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? if someone in your world is ...struggling with life’s ups and downs. The City of Salisbury, raised awareness of this important message by holding an event at your Salisbury Community Hub, organised by Every Life Matters - Salisbury Suicide Prevention Network. To help raise awareness of suicide prevention, we have a free sausage sizzle and games for kids to enjoy today at the Hub. Today’s event was MC’d by Deputy Mayor Julie Woodman with a Welcome to Country by Robert Taylor. We also heard from RU OK Ambassador Marion Wands. It was great to catch up with a number of local residents, Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM, Salisbury Business Association - D Waylen EO and our Salisbury Youth Council Member, Nicolette Rose. #ruokeveryday #suicideprevention #everylifematters

12.01.2022 Attended the Unveiling Ceremony of the Vietnamese Boat People Monument at the Riverbank, Kintore Ave. A beautiful monument honouring the loss and sacrifices our... Vietnamese community made while making their way to Australia . It was a moving ceremony which included dance, songs, and a number of emotional speeches, including from the Hon. Tung Ngo MLC and His Excellency Hieu Van Le AC, The Governor of SA. The Leader of the Opposition Peter Malinauskas also gave a heartfelt inspirational speech. The City of Salisbury, is proud to support and contribute towards this monument on behalf of our community. Well done to everyone involved, especially my good friend, The Hon. Tung Ngo MLC and Co-Chair of the Vietnamese Boat People Monument Committee, Mr Minh Nguyen. Great turnout of elected representatives from all levels of government and sides of politics. It was nice to see a big turnout of colleagues including Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM, Councillor Peter Jensen, Cr Kylie Grenfell, Cr Sarah Ouk, Cr Julie Woodman and CEO John Harry and his wife Sue.
