07.01.2022 During their Pastoral session today, our Year 9 students focused on Character Strengths. This session included reflecting on individual qualities, the qualities of others and treating them the right way. Sitting in a circle taught them the idea of unity and acceptance of another. Choosing from the Strength Cards in the circle helped them appreciate their qualities, as well as to see and admire the differences of others. Words on these Strength Cards included: forgiving, pro...tective, happy, organised, humble etc. Giving their card away to a peer who saw that strength taught them genuine love and sharing of stories. On post it notes, students wrote down affirmations to the person next to them. The students ended the session by completing a quiz online. This helped them understand themselves better, resulting in living out the words of St Paul: "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."1 Thessalonians 5:11. #pastoral #education #tolerance #respect #love #school #students #sydney

06.01.2022 First Reconciliation: Last week, our Year 3 students received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. They had been preparing for this day by developing a true understanding that reconciliation is a celebration of God’s gift of forgiveness. Reconciliation allows them to reconcile with God, the Church and those they may have hurt. Knowing the true meaning of ‘sorry’ and learning about how they can truly reflect on the decisions they have made, has been an importan...t part of their journey. Special thanks to Sr Irene, Sr Marlene, Fr Tony, Fr Danny, Mr Bechara and our Year 3 Teachers for assisting in the development of the students’ spiritual growth. - Mr D. Day

04.01.2022 Remembrance Day Lest we Forget Remember, O Lord, all those the brave and the true who have died the death of honour and are departed in the hope of the resurrection to eternal life. In that place of light from which sorrow and mourning are far banished, give them rest, O Lord, thou lover of men. And grant to us who remain the spirit of service which may make us worthy of their sacrifice, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

04.01.2022 Yesterday, our Secondary staff and students celebrated Wellbeing Wednesday. At MCHF, we promote the importance of wellbeing and mental health on a daily basis, but on our very special Wellbeing Wednesdays, everyone is encouraged to partake in various activities, starting with a complimentary breakfast organised by College Leaders. Staff and students enjoy their free breakfast to the sounds of relaxing music played over playground speakers. During recess and lunch, students ar...e able to request their favourite (clean edit) songs. We have Volleyball matches and other ball games, chess and scrabble games, conga lines (of course!), and other activities to promote a happy and positive atmosphere. A free staff lunch is held on our rooftop, with a live band (our music students) playing mellow music that melts the stress away. Our aim is to promote a soothing environment and positive morale for our teachers. To end off our Wellbeing Wednesdays, students are given an evening of no homework A perfect end to a relaxing day. #wellbeing #healthylifestyle #wellbeingwednesday #students #school #education
