When lifting objects with poor posture it does not allow for optimal muscle activation which can place more stress on your joints, ligaments and spinal discs which can lead to injury. Lifting technique tips: Get your body as close to the object as possible Bend with your hips and knees rather than bending forward with your back Try to carry the object at the level of your belly button Keep breathing while you are lifting the object Keep a wide stance to help with stability and balance DO NOT LIFT AND TWIST DO NOT lift with your back, use your legs to stand up

16.01.2022 Are you sitting at your desk all day and feel tension in your neck? Try these stretches! Poor posture or sitting down at a desk all day can cause muscle tightness so it is important to make sure we keep stretching! 1 Upper trap - ear to armpit and gently add a little pressure with your hand for an extra stretch ... 2 Neck extensors - chin to your chest and gently add a little pressure with your hands for an extra stretch 3 Levator scapulae - nose to armpit and add a little pressure with your hand for an extra stretch You may not need that additional pressure with your hand but that option is there if you want an extra stretch! Hold for 30 seconds, rest for 20 seconds and repeat 3 times (each side). Complete these at least once a day. Giving yourself a break every 30 minutes is so important so why not add this in to your next break

02.01.2022 Could weak glute muscles be causing your low back pain? YES it can! Studies have shown that gluteus medius weakness has a high correlation to low back pain.... Why? Your gluteus medius muscle is responsible for PELVIC STABILITY. If there is weakness it is common for there to be changes to the biomechanics which influence pelvic position and stability. This can be a main contributor to low back pain. Having adequate pelvic stability is important as it allows for greater CONTROL of MOVEMENT and helps to reduce the LOAD placed on the low back
