25.01.2022 Us here at Mentoring Adelaide are getting excited, as it's getting closer to Camp time! That's right, we also do Camps! Currently these are only offered to existing Mentoring Participants, but they are so much fun and those who go along learn great life skills and gain enjoyable new experiences around our state.

23.01.2022 On this day 27 years ago the High Court overturned the legal fiction of terra nullius, recognising the special relationship Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples have with the land, paving the way for Native Title Today we remember his cultural & human rights legacy #MaboDay RT from Indigenous Grapevine

22.01.2022 In these uncertain times, the current situation worldwide can be anxiety-provoking. What is most important is being kind to one another, practicing good hygiene and safe practices. For existing clients we understand if you make the choice to self-isolate and respect your choice to do what feels right for you and your family. We are still open for business and supporting clients daily. We are also open for referrals for new clients in Southern Adelaide and the Fleurieu Peninsu...la, who have Self or Plan Managed NDIS funding. Email us at [email protected] regarding this for further information and new referrals. See more

22.01.2022 Just an update for those who are following Mentoring Adelaide on Facebook here but aren't necessarily connected via email: Mentoring Adelaide will not be replying to any communication or any new referrals from tomorrow until Mid November. Quinn is going overseas to see family and have some R&R. We look forward to responding to all correspondence from mid November and wish you all well during this time.... Faithfully, Quinn

19.01.2022 It is common practice for many people with good intention advocating for equality for all. Equality is not necessarily equal opportunity. Equity is the true equal opportunity as Equity addresses the ability for a thing to be of similar opportunity for all. Ask for Equity, not Equality.

19.01.2022 Here's a post about our most recent camp to the Limestone Coast.

18.01.2022 National Sorry Day, one of the greatest legacies from a prime minister of the last 20 years. Acknowledging the wrongs of the past and present, and bringing the agenda of systematic, mistreatment, disadvantage and persecution of Australia's First Nation's people to the national stage. Including First Nation's people in the opening of Parliament following election. May we as a country never fail our people, especially the vulnerable and disadvantaged, to the depraved abhorrent level we failed our First Nation's people in the past.

17.01.2022 It has been a very busy start to the new year. Mentoring Adelaide is currently operating at capacity meaning unfortunately there is no availability to offer personalised mentoring services to new clients at this time. We are still accepting email and phone referrals, and will offer advice on alternative service providers who might be available to service your needs. As always, take care.... 16.01.2022 I (Quinn) have just attended a Fleurieu Providers Network meeting in Mount Compass, photo to come in a later post. So many passionate people from different professions, offering insight into what they are doing, how it is achieving outcomes for PWD and also discussing future projects, plans, and collaborations. It's an exciting time to be working in a large area with a passionate community of very diverse service providers working together.... I was happy to represent Mentoring Adelaide, but more importantly Mentoring as a profession and discuss how it is similar to, but different from Support Work. I'm very excited looking forward to what the future brings for the Fleurieu Peninsula.

15.01.2022 "People with disabilities deserve the chance to build a life for themselves in the communities where they choose to live." Former U.S. President Barack Obama

12.01.2022 "It takes an open minded individual to look beyond a disability, and see, that ability has so much more to offer, than the limitations society tries to place upon them." Robert Michael Hensel

03.01.2022 "You must do the things, you think you cannot do." Eleanor Roosevelt

03.01.2022 Mentoring Adelaide wishes to acknowledge and celebrate today as a very special day of the year, International day of People living with a Disability. There are many people who have achieved great things and don't let their different ability considerations stop them being great. Today we'd like to specifically celebrate the hard work and achievements of Jordon Steele-Johns. Not only is he an excellent politician, but he is an excellent advocate for People accessing NDIS Supports and an awesome Role Model for everyone.

01.01.2022 One of life's greatest lessons: if you work hard and keep your head down helping others and making a difference in their lives, you will be rewarded. I have been reminded of this again. I am very passionate about the work I do, making a positive impact in the lives of others. Yesterday I attended the Australasian Enablement Awards in Melbourne. I was awarded the Most Outstanding Mentor in Disability Sector.... 1 week ago I didn't know this event/award existed. I'm very proud of this award, and still in shock. I don't Mentor to get recognition or win awards, I do it out of a love and passion of helping others. I'm overwhelmed by this honour, and very humbled and grateful to whoever nominated for this. Congratulations to the other individuals and organisations who also won awards at this event, you are pioneering change and action in your specialty field and communities across Australasia. More importantly, congratulations to the individuals who work in the aid of others every single day without recognition. You are amazing.
