19.01.2022 Cancellation - 2020 MSW Long Course Sprint Meet. On advice from Swimming NSW the Area (MSW) has made the decision to cancel the 2020 MSW Long Course Sprint Meet on 21/03/2020 to be held at Blacktown Aquatic Centre. This decision was not made lightly. We had to factor in the health and well-being of the swimming community.... A request has been issued to Swimming NSW to have refunds re-issued to the nominated credit/debit card. Please allow at least 10 business days for this transaction to appear in your account. MSW will also not be hosting the Winter Sprint Series in May 2020. Our next scheduled event will be the 2020 MSW Short Course Championships to be held at SOPAC on 13/14 June 2020. The 2020 Annual Presentation will still be on Saturday 16/05/2020 at St Johns Park Bowling Club as the number of attendees will be below the suggested limit. Thank you again for your ongoing support in putting the health and safety of our swimmers first.

This is the second Open water camp held by SMSW for the Areas OW National Qualifiers. The Development Team organized Nutritionist Chloe, Fina Referee and Fina OW Committee Member Bill Ford, and up and coming Iron Lady Brittney to give their professional advice on all things food, rules and psychology of being an athlete to our National OW Swimmers. Although it was a dry camp as the beaches were closed, I am sure everyone attending enjoyed the presentations, the snacks and lunch, and the social interaction. Great Thanks to our attending coaches Blake , Zack and Alex. Well Done Gail, Shawn and Judith. See you all in 2021! See more

09.01.2022 The following email has been sent to all competitors' email addresses. Good evening everyone We have been in contact with Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre to confirm if there have been any changes that will impact the meet to be held on 3 January 2021. ... As advised, Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre follows direction from NSW Government health and the NSW Health order. Currently there has been no direct advice for a change in Community Sport Activities COVID Safety Planning. Current advice for venues is; existing capacity requirements of 1 person per 2 square metres will be tightened to 1 person per 4 square metres in indoor areas I have been advised that Competition area and grandstands can fit 1500 people in this space with this social distancing restriction. The above information does not impact the meet as we are well within the 1500 people restriction. The Area has had to make to tough decision as follows: - If you or any member of your household have visited any of the locations listed on the NSW Health website here, https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates in the last 14 days, please do not attend the event. Please note that this page is updated daily, so we ask that you check back regularly to this page prior to the event. If you reside in any of the suburbs within the northern beaches council as listed please do not attend the event. A refund will be offered to any swimmers that fall in to the above category. Please provide your bank details and a manual refund will be issued as your entries did not go in via Swim Central. Any family that reside in the Greater Sydney or other regions of NSW that do not feel comfortable attending the meet can also request a refund by following the same steps. Please also note, that restrictions may be tightened by the government on Wednesday 23/12/2020. If this occurs the meet will be cancelled.

06.01.2022 SMSW WEBSITE NEWS. Since the AGM of the Area, this district has been without a Webmaster. Our outgoing Webmaster, Peter Johnston, after he has done the job for a few years had to withdraw from the position as his own work was being affected by the time on MSW Website. As a result our Registrar has been handling the Website, but she also well under the hammer with competition, Swim Central Problems and fine tuning final swim programs. MSW thanks Kathy Thompson for her endurance and great will, however it is obvious to keep some order and balance in the voluntary positions of the Area Management, a new face as an officer of the Area ie really required. The position of Webmaster, is only related to the Areas website. Updating the site and ensuring that all information in regards to Area News, Competition and Development is the scope of work interested in nominating for the position of Area Webmaster.
