17.01.2022 How’s your #mentalfitness? October is Mental Health Month and today I zoomed in with Rotary Club of Wahroonga and guest speaker Bronnie Taylor MLC the Ministe...r for Mental Health, Regional Youth and Women. Open dialogue about mental health, helps improve our local communities. By removing the stigma, it makes it easier for those who are suffering to seek help, learn to cope and get on the road to recovery. Doing small everyday things like getting enough sleep, or taking time to regularly chat with a friend, can help build resilience so we can cope with life’s ups and downs. If you or someone you know needs support, go to your local GP or visit my website alisterhenskens.com.au and it’s useful links section for a comprehensive range of mental health services and contact details.

09.01.2022 #MICSMembers Over the next 6 weeks we will cover stories from our Members #Travels: First story comes from Helen and her time in Japan. Thank you Helen Kennedy Helen's interest in languages began with her parents both studying French, German and Latin at various times. Her grandfather was also a French teacher. Helen studied French and German at school, then applied to be a #RotaryExchange Student and was sent to Japan. I loved learning Japanese and subsequently did an honou...rs degree at Sydney University. I had a 20 year career using Japanese language in a range of jobs working for the Japanese consulate in Sydney, #Japanese local government in Japan and for a small TV and film Coordination company in Sydney working with Japanese #film crews. Pictured here: My French friend Noellie in our Japanese school uniforms attending #Gakushuin Girls High School during our #Rotary Exchange Year in 1982. And the 2 most recent visits to Japan catching up with host families and school friends from my Rotary Exchange Year in 1982. As a member of #MICS, Im very happy to have the opportunity to meet people from different cultures and to be involved in projects that embrace the different communities living in our area.

07.01.2022 Thanks to your generous support, our hospital staff have just received a much-needed boost of nearly 3,000 sets of new procedural scrubs. With more regular cha...nging, and more staff needing to wear sterilised scrubs, the hospital's existing supply was at breaking point. These new scrubs will help make the work day so much easier for all our frontline workers. Our heartfelt thanks to all who helped make this happen through your support of our Emergency Appeal.
