20.01.2022 b r e a t h e What typically happens to our breathing as we experience stress in life? Yup, if you guessed that shallow breathing kicks in - you’re spot on! Our body - that is our brain, nervous system, immune system, endocrine system and our minds need oxygen more than water and food to survive! Research has shown that evidence based relaxation techniques help people experiencing pain, inflammation, anxiety, depression, trauma and sleep difficulties. Did you know that ...the average person typically takes in approximately 500ml of air and that we can actually hold over 3000ml of air? Well.. today I will introduce you to deep breathing. You can do this sitting or laying down. If sitting, make sure your feet are flat on the floor and your spine straight. If laying down, again make sure your spine is straight and your feet are flat but put your knees up. Place one hand at the top of your rib cage and the other at the bottom of your belly. Breathe at a normal pace.. and when you’re ready start to take 5 deep, slow and comfortable breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth. IN - taking in oxygen, OUT - releasing carbon dioxide. If you are taking deep breaths, you should feel the rise and fall of your belly, rather than in your chest. Try doing this twice a day and notice how you feel after practising for a week. Once you make this a practise, it will become an autonomic response which means that your body will automatically start taking deep breaths without you noticing. Wow! Isn’t that amazing. Never underestimate the power of deep breathing! 2019 Mindset Coaching & Counselling #mindsetcoachingcounselling #acceptance #change #growth #psychoneuroimmunology #deepbreathing #anxiety #depression #trauma #ptsd #sleepdisorders #pain #inflammation #breathe #breathein #breatheout #oxygen #relaxation See more

20.01.2022 Hello Great to connect! Why I started my coaching & counselling business ... I have a strong desire to help people to help themselves! I am a firm believer in personal development and learning about yourself throughout this emotional roller coaster of a journey called life. I can not stress enough the value of understanding how our thoughts, emotions, attitudes, beliefs and decisions impact not only our own lives but those around us too. It is this understanding and sel...f awareness that brings us to a choice point: to take control and make a courageous CHANGE or to humbly ACCEPT and let go of what is out of our control. Both challenging to do, right? But here’s the silver lining - choices grounded in trust within yourself and what you value will lead to GROWTH. That’s empowering. 05.01.2022 Stress & Coronavirus . Often when people hear the word ‘stress’ they think of negative associations or experiences which are accompanied by anxiety, worry or pain. Stress is subjective and what is stressful for one person may not phase another or even potentially be exciting for them. Whether or not your... stress is eustress or distress depends on how you choose to think about and respond to the stressor. Our perception is what gives meaning to the stressor. . Think about... are the sources I am reading/listening to credible in regards to updates? Exercise your critical thinking. what can I do/drink/eat that will support and boost healthy immune function? Simplify - nutrition, vitamins & minerals, exercise, sleep & hygiene. in what ways can I be of service to others who may be struggling in any shape or form?
