25.01.2022 Kristy, one of Mobile Rehab's exercise physiologists, and Mum to Cadel, has asked us to share this story with you all. Cadel, who has cystic fibrosis, has just turned 10 after he was flown to Melbourne for a double lung transplant. Kristy would like to publicly acknowledge the amazing work of the transplant team at The Alfred. This team consists of nurses, consultants, surgeons, psychologists, OTs, dieticians and physios. So many allied health professionals all working together to help Cadel. (And might we add, he has an amazing mum who is an EP to help with Cadel's rehab!) We wish you and your family all the very best and Cadel a swift recovery and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

25.01.2022 At Mobile Rehab we proudly celebrate International Women's Day. Helen Weston founded Mobile Rehab 25 years ago. Five years after that, Cathryn (pictured right) joined the small team as a community physiotherapist. Nearly 20 years on and Cathryn is still an integral part of the team and continues to visit clients in their own homes. Mobile Rehab has an inclusive and diverse workforce that embraces a culture of understanding and support - all stemming from Helen's leadership.... www.mobilerehab.com.au Photo by Paul Harris Photography #InternationalWomensDay2021 #InternationalWomensDay #Allfemaleexecutiveteam #womentothefront #AlliedHealth #CommunityHealth #ExpectbetterForever #YourHealthYourHomeYourWay #MobileRehabis25 #MRturns25 #LeadingCommunityHealthProvider

21.01.2022 World Occupational Therapy Day! Today we celebrate the positive impact OTs have in people's everyday lives. Our client, Claire, tells us what having a Mobile Rehab occupational therapist coming to her home means to her. ... "It has opened up a new world for me: I can see and read my letters and the newspaper. I can walk out to the letterbox without worry. I can turn a tap on without strain. It means I can keep being independent and engaged." Claire, 88. Thank you Claire! Be sure to watch our Stories for OT celebrations.

21.01.2022 It's an exciting day when the Mum of a Mobile Rehab physiotherapist, appears on one of our newly branded cars! Shannon's Mum, Luci, very kindly agreed to let us use her photo to depict a happy, healthy and active lifestyle. Thanks Luci, Shannon had a lot of fun with 'you' on our little photo shoot!

20.01.2022 It's a Mobile Rehab tradition to make Christmas cake for our clients. Not only is this a great way to thank all our wonderful clients, but it's a fun way to spend time with colleagues (and we love it)! Here is what making over 2500 cakes looks like

20.01.2022 Has the recent wet weather kept you inside? While you may not be able to go for walks (watch out for slippery debris even after the rain goes away) you can take this opportunity to pick up on those half finished projects, like crocheting. Hobbies like this are great for mental stimulation and finger dexterity; and even better if you really give your brain a work out and teach a friend! What are your wet weather projects? Let us know via emoji or photo to show us #wetweatherprojects #wetweatherhobbies #crochet #crochetchevronblanket #crochetisforeveryone

20.01.2022 Mobile Rehab is recruiting Physio + OT graduates to start in 2021. We're seeking those with passion, energy, drive and organisational skills - is this you? Apply here: http://bit.ly/MobileRehabGradProgram

19.01.2022 How beautiful are Jacaranda's in full bloom? It's like there is a purple carpet across the state at the moment. Give us a thumbs up if you love seeing the Jacarandas! Also, let us know where the best Jacaranda streets / parks are so we can check them out! Many thanks to our Mobile Rehab accredited exercise physiologist Imogen for sending in this photo just before visiting a client in their own home #jacarandas #purplecarpet #jacarandatrees #southeastqueensland #jacaranda #alliedhealthathome #homevisitexercisephysiotherapy #MobileRehabAust

17.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. LEST WE FORGET.

16.01.2022 Are you on the hunt for a new podcast to listen to? We asked Deanna, one of our Accredited Dietitians to let us know what she's listening to at the moment. Thanks for sharing, Deanna!

16.01.2022 Our 2021 Graduate Program is well underway. Here, our dietitian grad Crystelle shares with us her thoughts on life as a grad: Life as a new graduate dietitian with Mobile Rehab is honestly a dream come true. My favourite part is seeing clients on Bribie Island where I grew up as a kid! It’s so amazing to be able to give back to the same community that raised me. I’m helping the same members of my community who volunteered at the schools I attended growing up. If you had to...ld me 10 years ago I could be working my dream job as a dietitian at Bribie Island I wouldn’t have believed you!" #graduateprogram #dietitiangraduate #mobilerehabgraduateprogram #givingbacktothecommunity #dreamjob #mentoring #alliedhealthathome #communityhealth

16.01.2022 Mobile Rehab's graduate program was started a few years after Helen Weston first established one of Queensland's first dedicated community allied health organisations 25 years ago. Today, Helen continues to ensure that Mobile Rehab attracts passionate, caring and energetic graduates to the program. Welcome to Mobile Rehab!

15.01.2022 Last month the world lost another great musician, Peter Starkie from the Skyhooks, after he fell from a ladder. His brother, Bob, reported online, "... very sad to deliver the news that my brother Peter has tragically died in one of those stupid ladder accidents he was only 72 when he took the dive and had plenty of life ahead of him. Emergency departments have seen an increase of 31% in DIY type injuries during the pandemic; with the majority being males between 25-64; ...and involving ladder falls. Pretty scary statistics, huh? So what can you do to decrease your chance of a fall, and importantly, your fear of falling. Click here to find out; and please pass this on to anyone you know who should be taking more precautions with the DIY! https://mobilerehab.com.au/ladder-falls-the-risk-is-real/

15.01.2022 What are you reading or listening to at the moment? Accredited dietitian at Mobile Rehab, Sarah, shares with her current favourites. Pass these recommendations on to someone you think would enjoy them! Let us know what you think.

15.01.2022 Looking for ideas to exercise in your own home? Here are some simple ones you can do while you are waiting for the kettle to boil, the toast to pop, or until your favourite TV program comes on. If your balance is great, do these next to the kitchen bench, or table. If you need a little assistance, hold onto the bench for support. Scroll through the photos for some inspiration. 13.01.2022 We asked our friend 'Nan' what her favourite part of Christmas + New Year was ... it was no surprise that she immediately replied with "when the Grandchildren visit!" (We're not sure who's more excited here.) Social interaction plays such a huge role in our mental health and wellbeing; in particular for the older generation. Stay active, stay social, and make arrangements to catch up with family + friends; it's healthy! www.mobilerehab.com.au... #notsponsoredbyColes #mentalhealth #socialinteraction #favouritetimeofyear #alliedhealthathome #exerciseismedicine #callafriend #callafamilymember #bekind

10.01.2022 International Day of the Older Person! One of the aims of this day is to increase awareness and appreciation of the role of the health care workforce in maintaining and improving the health of older persons. A big step forward this year, was when our Government recognised the necessity for the continuation of in-home allied health visits for older persons throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. ... A great example of this is our client 90yo Doug, who achieved his lockdown goal of walking up 3 flights of stairs unassisted! Consistency in treatment and care is vital to not only physical health but mental health and wellbeing. I mean - look at his face! He couldn't be happier! Let's celebrate this day together! #InternationalDayOfTheOlderPerson #ActiveAgeing #DecadeofHealthyAgeing

09.01.2022 Today is World Mental Health Day! The perfect day to celebrate Tai, Mobile Rehab’s Referrals and Reports Link, recent completion of the Mental Health First Aid Course . The reason Tai chose to take on this extra study stemmed from a phone call she recently received. ... I took a particularly distressing call from a client in crisis and I decided that I didn’t want to feel so helpless in this situation again. I wanted to learn how I could effectively assist people in crisis and know what to say and where to direct people when they were in need. So what is next for Tai? Her usual hobbies of yoga, meditation, bushwalking and reading are always there, but as Tai is waiting for her community choir to resume, she is fostering rescue dogs when she can. What a saint! #lifelonglearning #CPD #WorldMentalHealthDay #mentalhealthawareness #bekindtoyourself #Passionate #Caring

06.01.2022 Mid week Mobile Rehab team meetings are always fun and informative. 05.01.2022 Want a bit more from your daily walk? Walking on sand takes 2.12.7 times more energy than it does to move at the same pace on hard surfaces. Walking on sand strengthens all the muscles between your feet and back, especially your calves, quadriceps and glutes . The dryer the sand, the harder the work! And walk slowly - walking at a slower pace while your feet sink in sand requires more effort than walking fast or even jogging. So take your a trip to the beach, take in the view and fill your lungs with fresh air! #walkonthebeach #freshair #workoutwhileyourwalk #Noosa #SunshineCoast #sandybeaches #Queenslandbeaches

05.01.2022 It is HOT! Stay hydrated and drink water throughout the day. If plain water gets a bit boring for you, swap to sparkling water, add a slice of lemon or lime and some ice cubes. Some food can also help increase your daily fluid intake; try to eat more tomatoes, watermelon and cucumber! Let us know your favourite Summer drink to stay hydrated! #stayhydrated #drinkwater #fluidintake #summerdrinks #mocktails #sparklingorstill?

05.01.2022 Slippery when wet! While thongs (or flip flops) are likely your 'go to' footwear for the Summer, make sure you're not choosing form over function. When thongs are wet, they can be notoriously slippery. The last thing you want is to have a fall. If you're at the pool or beach, barefoot is best. When you're done, clean and dry your feet before slipping on good fitting shoes. Look after you feet; they are key to your mobility! One of our friendly Mobile Rehab podiatrists can come to your home for a footwear assessment. If you've never had one, you may not be wearing the correct shoes for your feet! https://mobilerehab.com.au/services/podiatry/

03.01.2022 We thought we'd share a pic of the lunch our Dietitian, Deanna, packs to maintain healthy eating while on the move. We're sharing this early in the day so you've got time to pop to the store if the cupboard is bare!! "Having on-the-go snacks is vital in our job as a mobile clinician. Having a mixture of wholegrain foods, fruits and protein, keeps the hunger pangs away while making sure I’m meeting my nutritional needs." #DietitiansWeek2021 #MakeNoiseforAPDs #lunchontherun #healthyworklunch #easytoeatlunch #snacksforwork #healthyeating #foodisfuel

01.01.2022 Hands up who overindulged? And you're not too sure what day it is? Diet and exercise might be the last thing you are thinking about, but this photo is inspiring! A game of Marco Polo and simple plate of fruit ticks both healthy food and exercise boxes. Did you know an already cut up plate of fruit is much more likely to be eaten; and fruit is great for hydration! So pop the chocolates away (at least for few hours) and get slicing.
