21.01.2022 Dolphins at play are fascinating and beautiful, and swim in a pod with amazing synchronization. I was lucky to capture this footage of large pod swimming at a surf break in Kalbarri. The best bit is at the end.

20.01.2022 This is exciting! Something unique, which complements the work I do through Mondo Photography. If you are into Smart Phone Photography and want to take things to the next level, we're here to help!

18.01.2022 Matt Damon in a GT40 (ref. 'Ford v Ferrari')? Quairading is about as far from Le Mans in France as you can get; but that doesn't stop local aspirations. I took a drive there yesterday with Dale Neill and caught up with our mate, Russell Stacey. He rolled up in his pride and joy, a 1963 V8 Ford Fairlane. Inspired by Matt Damon's character in the movie 'Ford Vs Ferrari' he was proudly sporting the same stylish sunnies Damon’s character (Carroll Shelby) wore. And then of course, a wide brimmed hat. And just as in the movie, his old Ford's driver's door had a bit of trouble closing. Definitely not Le Mans in France, certainly not a GT40, and not a movie star, but pretty cool anyway. Taken with my Smartphone

17.01.2022 A more "atmospheric" astro shot from last week. It was taken at Island Point, south of Mandurah. T'was #justanotherdayinwa and good reason for us to get out and #explorewesternaustralia during this time of restricted international and interstate travel.

17.01.2022 Been travelling around the Murchison region this passed week. So much to see. This is an image of the Pink Lake at Port Gregory. At the right time of the day (around midday from what I can make out), it really is this colourful. And for those interested in landscapes, Dale Neill and I are holding the Country Gaze photo weekend over the 19 and 20th September. Details and bookings are on Eventbrite.

14.01.2022 A day out in the SW with some really old Norton motorcycles.

14.01.2022 Hand Made in WA is an on-line platform to support local artisans with the promotion and sales of local artwork and crafts. This video was produced by Mondo Photography to assist in the promotion of the platform to local artisans. Hand Made in WA is a great initiative and will hopefully become the go to site for people wanting to buy genuine locally produced arts and crafts.

13.01.2022 Wildflowers are out in abundance throughout our beautiful state, keeping our birds busy. This little Wattlebird (a member of honeyeater family) barely kept still for a moment as it busily flitted from one grevillia to another. The wildflower season doesn’t last long and late rains have seen a flourish in recent weeks. (BTW Dale Neill, one of our top photo-educators, and I are running a wildflower, astro and Landscape weekend on 19/20 Sept - search ‘Country Gaze for details. Numbers are limited and only a few places are left.)

13.01.2022 Everyone has a smart phone and most of us take lots of photos. But how many of us think about what we want our image to look like before we press the shutter and shoot with intent? http://www.smartphonephotographywa.com.au//getting-creativ

11.01.2022 A full view of the Milky Way over Lake Ninan. This image is a stitched panorama, where I have taken 10 photos, moving the camera so each overlaps, and then blended them together on a computer. This gives much more detail than a single image taken with an ultra wide angle lens. Dale Neill (one of the state’s leading photo-educators) and I have organised a photography weekend over the 19th/20th Sept’. Country Gaze, will be full of landscape, wildflower and astro photography. It’s going to be awesome and further details can be found at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/country-gaze-tickets-118247 should you or someone you know be interested.

11.01.2022 The Milky Way rising over Island Point, south of Mandurah, #justanotherdayinwa. With our CV19 restrictions easing, these places are so accessible so why not #visitwa?

11.01.2022 I spent some time the other day doing studio shots of a Triumph America motorcycle. This one was taken within a cyclorama, sometimes called an infinity wall". I'm keen to do some more studio shots of cars and bikes; it's challenging and very satisfying.

11.01.2022 A day out in the south west of WA with some vintage Norton Motorcycles. https://youtu.be/jsf4HsE08to

11.01.2022 Some examples of my work photographing people, including corporate headshots and business portraits.

08.01.2022 I find that when I'm in "photo mode", my eyes open up to appreciate the beauty in otherwise fairly ordinary scenes. This image was taken at Piney Lakes a few mornings back, a spot I regularly pass on my walks with the dog. But this day I had my camera instead and the light through the trees just caught my eye. I have edited it to make it look like a painting and quite like the more artistic effect (I try not to go over the top with these things though).

08.01.2022 Really excited to be partnering with Dale Neill in the Country Gaze photography weekend on 19th and 20th September. It’s going to be an awesome weekend of Landscape, Wildflower and Astro Photography. Numbers are capped at 10. https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/country-gaze-tickets-118247

08.01.2022 1942 Harley Davidson (military model). I had a lot of fun last week messing around doing some light painting of Travis Fairweather's immaculate vintage Harley. It looks great in colour, but black and white is more in keeping with the period.

08.01.2022 Travis Fairweather's beautiful #vintageharley, a 1942 750cc miltary model that has been immaculately restored. This image has used a technique known as light painting, a special technique of taking several long exposure images with an Ice Light which are blended together to highlight the curves and provide a special effect.

07.01.2022 One of my #classiccars images; a lovely and curvaceous 1967 E-Type #etype Jaguar XKE.

07.01.2022 Not for the #classicbike purist, the Can Am Spyder is an unusual machine and many love it. It also gives many unable to ride solo similar freedom to being on two wheels. "Different horses for different courses!" It's certainly an interesting machine to photograph!

05.01.2022 Island Point, south of Mandurah, always delivers when it comes to astro; #justanotherdayinwa.

04.01.2022 For those of us who like looking up to the night sky, the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter last week was awesome. This image was taken a couple of night's later and is a composite of four photos.

03.01.2022 I started my photography "re-birth" some years ago while travelling overseas. #travelphotography is one of those areas I love as you always see things through a different lens (pardon the pun). One of the best tips for travel and landscapes is to capture what it is you are feeling, rather than just seeing. On going through some archives, I stumbled across this photo, which is a favourite from a trip to Istanbul in 2015. I remember exactly what this scene evoked for me at the time; that I'd stepped back into the '40s or '50s in this old city. I still feel it when I look at the image. Editing it in black and white with some grain gives it the style of an old photograph and helps to convey the feeling.

02.01.2022 Star Trails over Island Point, south of Mandurah. The camera can see things the human eye doesn't and this is particularly the case with astro photography. Dale Neill and I recently co-hosted a weekend of workshops and photography at Greenhills, just east of York. This was an image I produced prior to the workshop to demonstrate some of the different forms of astro photography. The exposure took 2 1/2 hours, but it was worth it.

02.01.2022 Capturing the Milky Way as it neared the horizon at Lake Clifton, overlooking the Thromobolites, was awesome. It was typical of #justanotherdayinwa and good reason to get out and #explorewesternaustralia.

02.01.2022 It’s going to be an epic weekend. Dale Neill (one of the state’s leading photo-educators) and I are partnering for the Country Gaze photo weekend over 19 and 20 September. It’ll be a weekend full of Landscape, Wildflower and Astro Photography in a relaxed environment around York and Greenhills. I’m going to be doing a workshop on Astro and, on the Saturday evening, we’ll head out and put the theory into practice. Bookings are through Eventbrite. https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/country-gaze-tickets-118247

01.01.2022 There are still some wildflowers out in bloom up at Kings Park. I went up yesterday morning and had a bit of fun trying some different techniques. These little plants are orthosanthus, commonly known as a Morning Iris and are plentiful in the park's gardens. Their flowers are small, but great to photograph. Another of the plants to keep an eye out for as you #wonderoutyonder.

01.01.2022 The disused railway line leading into Greenhills, east of York, WA. This photo was taken as part of the Country Gaze workshop weekend, which I co-hosted with Dale Neill.

01.01.2022 It's out! The UK car magazine, Auto Addicts, has now been published. Journal 5 includes my article on the Red Dust Revival. It’s a quality magazine and I'm really pleased they saw fit to feature the story. It can be found here: https://www.autoaddicts-shop.com/journals/volume-five-ye7ts

01.01.2022 I used to live "north of the river". The coast from Triggs Beach up to Sorrento is probably some of the most interesting and beautiful on the metro coastline. This image was taken at Watermans Beach and is typical of #justanotherdayinwa. Love this place; the sound of the waves, the smell of the ocean, the cool white beach sand, and the colours of the sunset. At least you get to see the colours:-) Let your imagine loose for the rest!
