24.01.2022 We were very excited to take delivery of our latest edition to the motorshed stable yesterday. Despite the hot 50km drive home in 39 degree heat! she didn't skip a piston.

10.01.2022 The Ariel Square 4 is slowly progressing forward. A year or two before this machine was manufactured, Ariel went from a sprung saddle to one that sat on the frame (see attached picture). The result was a ride that is a bit harsh so I’ve opted to retrofit a sprung saddle. It’s a bit of mucking around but I reckon, in the long run, the result will be worth it.

01.01.2022 Yesterday I took out a permit and hit the actual roads in the Mustang for the first time. Up until now, I've been idling around the house and in the park across the road. Getting out on the road and allowing the car to run through the gears revealed a couple of problems, the main one being my rebuilt C4 transmission won't change into third gear. Last week I changed the vacuum modulator out as the one on the rebuilt box was leaking auto transmission fluid. I've been wracking my brain why the car won't change into third, then, in a lightbulb moment, I went to the bin and retrieved the old modulator. The little pin that causes the change was in the bin - not where it belongs in the tranny! Funny how liberating 300 horsepower relies upon a tiny piece of metal.

01.01.2022 After a seven-year, full nut and bolt restoration, today we've taken our first tentative steps around the block. Initial thoughts are: some fine tuning is needed, either timing, carb or both. The engine is simply not yet as smooth as it should be, but, we're almost there. I'm going to need a rev counter, not knowing where my engine is at is extremely frustrating. The engine is getting a bit warm too, so I may need an electronic fan to help keep things cool. That's not such a big deal but it will add a touch of the modern to what ostensibly looks like a sixties engine bay.
