25.01.2022 We saw so many different ways in which kindness was shown to one another as part of World Kindness Day. Our Year 6 Navy class created flowers highlighting "When Do I See Kindness?". Our Year 4 class took up the challenge of doing 100 kind deeds in one day....they exceeded that mark by completing 106! And one of our in-service teachers ran the Kindness Day assembly this morning.... There are still a few hours left in the day to do something kind for someone else.

Dr Jodi Richardson is hosting an online seminar on Tuesday 8 September, sharing her experience, talking about anxiety and providing essential tools for parents to assist their children. Full details on how to book in the post below.

The assembly produced lots of laughs (and some tears), the 2021 Student Leadership group was announced, Carmel was awarded the House Cup and our Year 9 students farewelled our graduates in song. With all of this done, it was time for one last time-honoured tradition - the outgoing Year 2 boys rang the bell and led the Year 10 students through a guard of honour to Sandy Bay Road. Wishing our Year 10 students and Year 2 boys much happiness and success and remind them that they will always be a part of the Mount Carmel College community.

12.01.2022 This term, both the Primary and Secondary Mission Sisters are running fundraising projects to help those in our wider community. The LEGO Brick Build & Give campaign is the Primary Mission Sisters project whereby students and families are asked to donate any LEGO or DUPLO bricks and figures that they no longer use. The bricks don’t have to be a complete set or even from the same set, as long as they are LEGO or DUPLO brand bricks. From the donations, packs of assorted bricks ...will be created and given to the Hobart Womens Shelter and the Migrant Resource Centre for them to put into the hands of children to own and enjoy building new creations. The bricks and figures can be brought to school and dropped off into the bins located in the College Office or the College Library by the end of Term Three. The Secondary Mission Sisters are running the Toucan Appeal. Students have been asked to donate two cans of food which will be donated to those in our community who are struggling to put food on their tables given the current situation we are all living with. Donations can be left in the tubs that are located in each classroom.

12.01.2022 Today, two of our Primary Leaders visited Hobart City Council to see how councils are run and to be a part of a mock council meeting. This was one of the many activities taking place as part of a UN initiative for Children’s Week and allowing children to have a voice.

11.01.2022 Last week, our Year 10 students attended the RYDA Road Safety Education Program. Young people, whether as drivers or passengers of young drivers are over represented in road crash statistics and this program focuses on the attitude and awareness of young people as drivers and passengers and seeks to encourage young people who are on the verge of driving or at least who are actively thinking about it, to take a more responsible attitude to motoring. The session is conducted by road crash survivors, Tasmania Police, driver trainers, drug and alcohol educators and vehicle safety professionals, with topics such as speed, hazards, distractions and accidents covered. It is an excellent program and very beneficial for our students.

10.01.2022 This Friday, October 30, will be A Day of Blue at Mount Carmel College. Students are permitted to wear free dress on the day, but the only catch is that everything has to be BLUE....whether that is a blue wig, a blue top, blue socks and shoes....the "bluer" the better! A Day of Blue has been organised by the Year 10 Leadership team, in particular the Wellbeing and Mission Leaders, in support of the charitable organisation Homely Retreats whose mission is to provide respite fo...r families affected by cancer and offering holidays experiences where families can take a break from cancer treatment schedules to rest and reconnect. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation in return for wearing free dress. The Year 10 Leadership Team will be hosting stalls during lunch time, so please bring along a few extra coins to donate. 10.01.2022 Mount Carmel College celebrates is World Kindness Day today - a day to highlight how doing something kind for someone else can make our community a better place. Doing good for others feels good. Showing kindness to others is just as rewarding as receiving it from someone else. Kindness is a common thread that brings all humans together regardless of race, religion, politics, gender and geographic location. It's not too late to start making a difference..here are some ideas -... compliment the first three people you talk to - write a hand-written note to a teacher - say good morning to the person you sit next to in class - pick up rubbish at school or clean up at home without being asked to - post an uplifting note in someone's locker, or on their computer screen - dedicate 24 hours to spreading positivity by smiling all day See more

02.01.2022 Even though it might be a short week, there is still plenty happening at Mount Carmel. The sun was out at lunchtime and the Primary students were fortunate to have bean bags and books on the lawn to celebrate Book Week. Meanwhile, our Year 8 students had Synergy Cheer and Dance visit their HPE class, instructing them on the basics of cheerleading. It is always a hive of activity around our campus.

02.01.2022 Although this year has been a year of change, one tradition that has remained is Book Week.
