21.01.2022 SOLD We picked up a few Victa 18s last weekend and have rebuilt one complete unit. This original late 1950s Model 4 Victa 18 toe-cutter is now a reconditioned running unit, available for purchase for $80. Photos 1-6 are the finished unit and its build progress, showing the original fuel-tap, cutting blades and exposed motor. Photos 7-13 show the four mowers as they were when we collected them and the dismantling process, including the discovery of chook-wire and wire mesh used as a baffle in the muffler.

16.01.2022 Victa Turns Grass Into Lawn........ and the Mower Man turns wrecks into restorations: Here is a Victa 18 circa 1960 that I have restored from a wreck or two, in an effort to bring life back into a piece of Australian manufacturing history. There are before, during, discovery (including finding chicken wire being used as a baffle) and after shots here. I decided to give this model a steampunk vibe with Rat Rod style, using modern wheels and adding red flames just for fun. 13.01.2022 Welding repair to the muffler of a ride on, before and after. The muffler material is a thin mild steel, a pad weld was placed around the crack then welded inwards to join the exhaust manifold. 02.01.2022 Safety for You and for Your Mower! When caring for your lawn with your push-mower, try not to mow under areas where visibility is obscured by other vegetation, for example under hedging. This mower has impacted something solid and the results literally blew the engine! The piston conrod has sheared off the cam-shaft and has been thrown through the crank-case, due to the solid object stopping the blades while the engine was still doing its thing. 02.01.2022 Marketplace is a great platform for selling, but youre putting yourself out there publicly and unfortunately, sometimes the public is not very pleasant. Last week we were trolled by an abusive person, who, when we refused his low-ball offer, then decided that the Victa 18 we advertised was not authentic or technically original enough. Of particular issue, it was insisted that the chunky choke was not original. The fact that we did not advertise it to be specifica...lly original didnt occur to this person who became quite hostile. Since then, Ive been researching the Victa 18 models and their release dates. There is no rule applied, Victa was a small family business and they often migrated left over parts from earlier models onto the new models, rather than waste them. So, here is the mower we sold (for our asking price) and the second photo is a Victa currently housed at the Powerhouse Museum. Trolls will be blocked from my page.
