25.01.2022 JUNIOR DIRECTOR | At the recent AGM, Mt Gravatt Hawks FC was pleased to accept the nomination of Paul Bunkham for the position of Junior Director. Paul and his family joined the club last year and they are already proving to be a great Hawks Family. Both of Pauls boys play for Hawks and Paul is also in our Over 35 squad. Paul also played at Mt Gravatt Hawks FC as a Junior, so its great to see families coming back to Hawks FC and making it the club of choice.... Having an additional Junior Director will not only give our Juniors greater representation on our Board of Directors, but will also provides us with more resources to coordinate and oversee the amazing growth that we have been experiencing in our junior club. Always a tough game out at Bob Brock Park as North Pine use the home ground advantage to try and secure some valuable points. The Capital League team kick off at 6pm (Reserves at 4pm).... 21.01.2022 SOUTHERN CROSS FUTSAL LEAGUE | Mt Gravatt Hawks FC is pleased to announce that it will be joining the inaugural season of the Southern Cross Futsal League. Joining this league will provide greater opportunities for Hawks FC players from our Capital League, Reserves and Youth teams. Hawks FC will play their inaugural fixture next Sunday 13 September. 12.01.2022 ROUND 8 RESULTS | This was a must win game and a win was what was delivered by our VILIC LAW Capital League team. The game started a bit shaky for Hawks with New Farm United Soccer Club taking the lead in the 4th minute. From that point an upset was on the cards with New Farm dominating most of the play. Just as New Farm looked to be settling into defending their 1-0 lead the Hawks grabbed one back in the 39th minute, this was followed very quickly be a second in the 43rd mi...nute allowing Hawks to take a 2-1 lead into half time. The second half was all Hawks and the flood gates opened for a goal fest that fans had been waiting for all season. Goals in the 63rd, 69th and 73rd minutes saw Hawks take a commanding 5-1 lead. New Farm grabbed a consolation goal in the 75th minute with Hawks finishing off an 8 goal game with a goal in the 90th minute to finish the game 6-2. Reserves earlier fought out a 1-1 draw. 11.01.2022 THANK YOU | Mt Gravatt Hawks FC want to publicly thank one of our local heroes. Glen Anderson does an absolutely amazing job looking after our fields, grounds and facilities. This year has been a year to remember and as most people and businesses went into COVID lock down, what most didnt know, Hawks FCs financial support from the Southern Cross Club was suspended for a period of 4 months leaving a massive unplanned hole in our budget and the club being unable to fund i...ts maintenance programs. Glen being a true local hero came to the rescue and insisted that he would continue to maintain our fields free of charge - in fact refused any form of payment. As a club we will be forever grateful to Glen for his generosity and commitment. Glen is the reason that when we returned to football our fields were amazing and ready to go for our delayed season. Words cant describe the gratitude that we have as a club for Glen. Thank you to Corrine McMillan MP - State Member for Mansfield for providing a wonderful gift basket as a sign of gratitude and also thank you to Newnham Hotel for donating a $50 Voucher. 11.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS - LIFE MEMBERSHIP | We are pleased to announce that Joel Bland affectionately known as Gus was last night awarded Life Membership due his unconditional years of service and support for Mt Gravatt Hawks FC which spans more than 31 years. Joel started in 1989 as part of our Under 7 Cassowaries, having then played Under 8 Harley, Under 9 Div 3, Under 10, Under 11 Div 3, Under 12 Div 4 which also happened to be Runner Up Premiers and Grand Final Winners in 1994. J...oe returned to Hawks in 2000 after high school had finished and took on the voluntary role of of Waterboy or Technical Hydrologist. Over the years he has been recognised for his contribution and dedication to the Mount Gravatt XXXX Premier League teams. In 2004 he was again recognised for his contribution to the Hawks FC. In 2005 Gus was part of the team that won the Premiership and Grand Final for Premier League One having the responsibility of keeping the team hydrated. That same year, Gus also received a 10 Year Service Medal, something that he still treasures today. In 2011 he received the most prestigious award at Hawks FC - the Hawks Achievement Award. In 2013 Gus was part of our Grand Final Runners Up team. In 2017, Gus was awarded the Mrs Baldassi Award which recognises our most valued Volunteers. In 2019 Gus was part of the team that won the Capital League 1 Grand Final. Gus reckons that he been in so many team photos over the years that he could wallpaper an entire wall. 07.01.2022 ROUND 7 RESULTS | Most definitely not the result we were after on Saturday night. Hawks travelled to North Pine on Saturday night to play in the Green and Gold Derby. Hawks started well and grabbed a goal in the 3rd minute to take a 1-0 lead.... North Pine hadnt read the script and hit back immediately to square things up 1-1. Hawks struggled to control the ball and before half time North Pine were able to put away two more chances to take a 1-3 lead into half time. Second half didnt improve much for Hawks and whilst creating chances, we werent able to claw back the deficit and the North Pine taking the game 3-1 and taking all three points and securing their first win of the season. Next week Hawks are back at The Nest and take on New Farm United on Saturday night. #COYH #WASNTOURNIGHT

05.01.2022 ROUND 9 RESULTS | The quick trip over to Carina didn't go to plan last night. The first half was fairly even with both teams creating chances and going into half time 0-0. Last week saw the second half explode with a flurry of goals, and this week was a repeat, but with Hawks being on the receiving end. ... AC Carina opened their ledger soon after halftime with a goal in 50th minute. As we see so often, a second goal quickly followed in the 52nd minute, with AC Carina potting a 3rd at the 60th minute mark. As the old saying goes, when it rain it pours and whilst the skies held last night, the bad news didn't, with a red card to Hawks in the 72nd minute for denying a goal scoring opportunity. AC Carina put the result beyond doubt in the 78th minute with another goal, taking a comprehensive 4-0 win over the Hawks. The League is for players aged 5-8 years (players born 2012-2015) and the format will include two games each week played in either a 4v4 or 5v5 format, played in a FUN environment. 02.01.2022 ROUND 6 RESULTS | Not the result we were after, but none the less an entertaining game in front a great crowd tonight. Earlier in the afternoon we had some of our Fledglings and MiniRoos come on down for a kick about before the start of the main game. Hawks took the lead in the 39th minute to take a 1-0 scoreline into half time. Unfortunately we were not able to hold the lead and in the 60th minute Brisbane Athletic found the back of the net.... As the old saying goes, things come in pairs and that held true tonight and within 8 minutes, the visitors were able to grab the double and take the lead, not soon after a number of chances created by the home team, but were unable to convert. A 90th minute goal saw the visitors all but secure the win with a 3-1 lead. Hawks grabbed a consolation goal in the 90+2 minutes to end the game 3-2. Next week, Hawks take the M1 north to Narangba to take on bottom of the table North Pine where it will be crucial for Hawks to take 3 points in order to stay in contention for the top half of the table split in October. #COYH #WASNTOURNIGHT
