25.01.2022 SMALL BUSINESS REBATE SCHEME NOW OPEN Small businesses in NSW will get a helping hand with a $1500 rebate scheme now open, assisting in the payment of NSW and local government fees and charges, such as licences, council rates, and registration fees. Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP said the Small Business Fees and Charges Rebate, which was announced in November’s Budget, would provide support for eligible NSW small businesses, sole traders and non-profit organisations.... It’s important that we support small businesses, including those right here in Western Sydney to recover from the impact of the COVID pandemic and encourage business growth by reducing the cost of running a business, Mrs Davies said. The NSW Government has committed close to $500 million for the new scheme, which shows our commitment to the small businesses of NSW. Minister for Finance and Small Business Damien Tudehope said a small pilot program would start this month before it rolled out state-wide and businesses could access the scheme through Service NSW. Many licence fee waivers are about to expire and I encourage small businesses below the new 2020-21 payroll tax threshold of $1.2 million to apply for this new rebate scheme, Mr Tudehope said. This will help hundreds more businesses, along with entrepreneur and family businesses across the state, ensuring they have more money in their pockets as NSW continues its post-pandemic recovery. Under the scheme, small businesses, sole traders and non-profit organisations can apply to be reimbursed up to $1500 for NSW and local government fees and charges that are business related costs. These include: Food authority licences Liquor licences Tradesperson licences Event fees Council rates Business vehicle registration fees The scheme cannot be used for fees and charges specifically excluded under policy guidelines, such as fines and penalties, and will only be available for those charges and fees that are due and paid after 1 March 2021. It will be available via Service NSW in early April and will run until 30 June 2022. The scheme will allow eligible small businesses to draw down on a $1500 credit to offset the cost of eligible NSW and local government fees and charges. More information, including the program guidelines, are available at www.service.nsw.gov.au/small-business-fees-and-charges-reba Tanya Davies MP

22.01.2022 Professional services contract awarded for Elizabeth Drive upgrade ... Transport for NSW has officially awarded the professional services contract for the Elizabeth Drive West and Elizabeth Drive East upgrades between the M7 Motorway at Cecil Hills and The Northern Road at Luddenham. While the strategic design of the upgrades was completed for the entire Elizabeth Drive corridor, the concept design has been divided into east and west parts, which has been awarded to infrastructure and consulting firm AECOM. AECOM will carry out the concept design, environmental approvals and detailed design of the Elizabeth Drive West upgrade as well as the concept design and environmental approvals of the Elizabeth Drive East upgrade. A Transport for NSW spokesperson said Elizabeth Drive is a major east-west corridor between the Liverpool region and the suburbs of Western Sydney, with the demand on the corridor expected to increase with developments such as the Western Sydney International Airport. As the Western Sydney Parkland City grows, we will see an expansion of industrial and commercial precincts, which will ultimately lead to a need to increase capacity on Elizabeth Drive, the spokesperson said. The upgrade involves expanding a total of 12 kilometres of Elizabeth Drive from a one-lane to a two-lane road in each direction, from The Northern Road in the west and from the M7 Motorway in the east, to the M12 Gateway at Badgerys Creek to cater for future growth. As a key connector for several road projects, expanding Elizabeth Drive to a dual carriageway, and adding a central median as a provision for a third lane in each direction, will improve safety and travel time reliability for local residents, businesses and the wider community. The upgrade of Elizabeth Drive also involves improving pedestrian, cycling and bus stop facilities to boost safety for active and public transport users. Funding for the Elizabeth Drive West and Elizabeth Drive East upgrades have been provided by Transport for NSW Metropolitan Road Precinct Planning (MRPP), and the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) Special Infrastructure Contributions (SIC) respectively. The Review of Environmental Factors will be on display for community consultation mid next year for Elizabeth Drive West and later next year for Elizabeth Drive East. 14.01.2022 Local road benefits from Federal funding Farm Road at Mulgoa will be re-surfaced thanks to funding from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Grants program. The $200,000 project will re-surface approximately 1.2 kilometres of the road that is suffering from disrepair as a result of increased traffic from motorists by-passing the roadworks on The Northern Road. Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown OAM thanked the Australian Government and the Member f...or Lindsay Melissa McIntosh for the grant. Penrith City Council is grateful for the funding from the federal government to repair Farm Road, Cr McKeown said. Traffic on Farm Road has increased significantly over the past few years as motorists look for alternatives to move about. It’s important to recognise that this particular road was never meant to be the main thoroughfare for traffic, instead its purpose is to service local residents who live in the Mulgoa area. The governments Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Grants funding will allow Council to repair the road and return it to a much more desirable condition. Member for Lindsay, Melissa McIntosh MP said, For many people in Mulgoa, this road is an important part of their daily commute to work and school, and back home again. Upgrades like this improve the condition of our local roads, and increase safety while getting around our community. Better and safer roads are part of my plan for Lindsay, and delivering $200,000 from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program will provide this critical safety upgrade. The work is expected to take 3 days to complete, starting today - Wednesday 18 November. Detours will be in place with motorists asked to exercise caution around the roadworks and crew. See more
