25.01.2022 This sure looks like a confident resurgence by this local institution. Getting out and about is a rather precious thing, so get behind the people trying to make our community grow. Do you like local markets? What sort of things would you like to see there?

25.01.2022 MINUTES OF TRANSITION AUSTRALIA AGM. Its a bit wordy but gives an idea of how much this group is doing. Minutes overview Meeting details ...Continue reading

25.01.2022 Glen Forrest Community Garden rotunda area looking spiffo for the Fundraising Plant Sale on Sunday morning (rain or shine ... our gardeners are intrepid souls) (9am - 11am) with added BONUS SWEET POTATO AUCTION. Bring lots of spare change :)

24.01.2022 Really bad weather forecast for the relaunch ... but dont worry, theyll be back for Spring.

24.01.2022 Any keen gardeners out there who have some spares to donate to the Mundaring Seed Library. They got very popular during quarantine so new stock needed to keep this great initiative available free to Shire of Mundaring Libraries members.

23.01.2022 The folks at Chidlow Community Garden - whove been lucky enough to obtain some railway carriages for their tools etc - need some HEAVY LIFTING help.

23.01.2022 OK here we go again ... for as long as it takes. Come on Mark McGowan, Rita Saffioti MLA you have the power to stop this crazy proposal.

23.01.2022 Grow one for the community! Look around your plot for volunteer seedlings & plants you might be able to pot up to donate for these community gardeners. Glen Forrest Community Garden & Mundaring Seed Savers are having a fundraising plant sale & will gladly take them off your hands. :)

21.01.2022 There'll no doubt be huge sighs of relief to hear these two iconic local businesses joining forces.

21.01.2022 This is really good news about Dome. We were getting a bit worried :)

20.01.2022 Something to think about, bringing fibre & fashion back home.

20.01.2022 Lets have this in the UK.

19.01.2022 (UPDATE: LOL the message is way more durable than the paint. Take 2 ... ) So good to see this message back up amongst the trees on the Highway in Hovea. Its simple: take it easy & be nice to each other. The 4m x 2m banner generously donated by the de Groot Family. A small community of painters took on the challenge: Joyce, Lori, Weston, Jacquie, Caroline & Tia. Especial thanks to Lynnette McFarlane for guidance & Graeme Beavington for hosting & hoisting (

19.01.2022 Local coffee icon Planet Espresso gets a new name: ROBYNS NEST and an expanded, stylish new home behind the Glen Forest IGA. Onya Robyn it looks GREAT :)

18.01.2022 Every little bit helps keep our local Seed Library stocked up. Are you saving some to share?

16.01.2022 Peace is a precious thing that has to be worked on moment by moment ... no matter what life, or the "elements" throw at it.

16.01.2022 Something to watch tonight?

14.01.2022 For people who like to grow (in all senses of the word), heres a sneak-peak invitation to a local foothills food forest garden, on a suburban block in Swan View. Some of us were lucky enough to visit in the very early stages, so itll be great to see the evolution. Gardeners love to learn from each other ... and share. If youre interested, Claire & Rhett share their progress here: https://www.facebook.com/towardssuburbanhomesteading/

13.01.2022 We love these little critters.

13.01.2022 Back in April (while most of us were preoccupied with other distractions) the Shire of Mundaring gave the green light to this scheme. Way to go guys!

10.01.2022 Minister, are you reading these letters. Politicians on both sides - doing what they are supposed to do: represent the community.

10.01.2022 Essential listening imo Debra Bishop from Save Perth Hills being interviewed on 6PR by Chris Ilsley from 6 PR.... #anglicanchurch #satterley

10.01.2022 Get the family out for some fun planting in Beelu National park in Glen Forest.

09.01.2022 Volunteers are always welcome to help out at these processing days for the Mundaring Seed Library. Its interesting seeing the new season seeds, good fun and the coffees great at Cafe Mojo Mundaring.

09.01.2022 Another local community garden sprouting in Stoneville ... exciting. Like, share & join their new page to keep up with their development, and support another great initiative. Onya guys :)

09.01.2022 Food for thought. Its why lots of us think developing food sharing / growing networks (for skills, surplus etc) and seed democracy are kind of important.

08.01.2022 Fundraising for two great local groups. Grab some bargains. Let us know if you have plants or seedlings to donate

07.01.2022 We need more of this everywhere. Food resilience is kind of important. Thats why we ACTIVELY promote more backyard growing, community gardening, sharing & learning together. We also helped incubate the local Seed Library. Life gets a whole lot richer & more diverse the closer you get to the source of your food. If its just outside your back door ... so much the better :)

06.01.2022 Anyone interested in Transition Streets? Meting tonight at 5.30 pm. See below. We have a special meeting 7.30 tonight on How to Start a Transition Streets group. Details here https://transitionaustralia.net//how-to-start-a-transitio/... and registration here: https://us02web.zoom.us//tZ0lcOmoqj8vG9QT4yoGQ4DFk5pCjnJxS Please register as it is a different link from the usual Transition Streets link. We will hear from Megan Cassidy, Christie McIntosh and Melanie Warren. You can read Megans story here: https://transitionaustralia.net/transition-streets-megans-/ I am sending this to people who formed the original Transition Streets Reference group. We formed after an initial online general meeting on 27 April, and met as a Reference Group online on 6 May, 18 May and 8 June, by which time many of the resources were ready to fly - thanks to Toms amazing work. We did however agree to meet sort-of monthly on first Monday each month. Meanwhile some of us started to run a pilot online group using the new resources. Richard has been running a Tuesday group weekly, and some of us are running a fortnightly Monday pilot group - weve had 3 sessions so far. Tonight is in between the fortnightly sessions - it was to have been a reference meeting and we are widening it to all-comers to inspire people to start a group. So please come along, and spread the word via email or Facebook if you can https://www.facebook.com//a.273424024028/315546656482772/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/transitionaustralia/ cheers Mary

06.01.2022 With the strange times we are living in nowadays, a lot of peoples thoughts have turned to producing food. This Farm it Forward social enterprise has lots of merit. If youd like to take part in something like this in the Hills, contact Liz at Sustainabilitywa. Spring is coming, so perfect time to get going.
