25.01.2022 The NSW Police Force welcomed 192 new probationary constables at the NSW Police Academy today at a restricted attestation ceremony. The 130 men and 62 women of Class 343 will undertake 12 months of ‘on-the-job’ training and will also complete the Associate Degree in Policing Practice with Charles Sturt University before being confirmed to the rank of constable. Well done and good luck on your policing careers.

20.01.2022 A man has been charged with large commercial drug supply after more than 50kg of illicit substances were allegedly seized following a vehicle stop in the Murrumbidgee region earlier this week. About 5.30pm on Tuesday (1 June 2021), officers attached to Murrumbidgee Traffic and Highway Patrol Command stopped a white Mitsubishi Triton dual cab utility on the Sturt Highway, Hay, after checks revealed the vehicle was unregistered. Officers spoke with the driver, a 65-year-old m...an, before searching the vehicle. During the search, police allegedly uncovered more than 30kg of methamphetamine, more than 3kg of cocaine, and almost 3kg of heroin. Officers also located 11kg of a brown substance, and more than 2kg of another substance believed to be prohibited drugs, which were hidden under tiles and paint. All items seized including the vehicle will undergo further analysis. The man was arrested and taken to Hay Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of large commercial drug supply and drive unregistered vehicle. He appeared at Griffith Local Court via AVL yesterday (Wednesday 2 June 2021), where he was formally refused bail to reappear in the same court on Wednesday 28 July 2021.



18.01.2022 A man is in a critical condition following a single-vehicle crash in the Murrumbidgee region yesterday. About 10am (Sunday 6 June 2021), a Holden Commodore was found crashed through a fence on O’Briens Road, near the intersection of Square Well Lane, Hillston, by a passing motorist. The driver, a 31-year-old man, had crawled out of the wreckage and was also found nearby.... NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the man for several broken bones and internal bleeding, before he was airlifted to Canberra Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition. Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District attended and examined the scene. The crash is believed to have occurred between 2am and 3am yesterday. 17.01.2022 SCAM ALERT! We’ve had several reports of scammers calling people from what appear to be trusted NSW Police Force numbers and threatening the call recipients with fines or arrest. These scammers are using technology to make it appear that the calls originate from legitimate police phone numbers; a practice known as ID spoofing. The caller impersonates a NSW Police Force officer and states that the person receiving the call has an outstanding fine or warrant. The scammer demand...s a form of payment to prevent arrest or further court action. The NSW Police Force will never call a member of the public and demand payment over the phone in order to avoid going to court or being arrested. If you get an unexpected call from someone who states they're from the police, and starts asking for personal details or threatens you, please hang up. If you’re concerned, you can always verify by contacting your local police or the Police Assistance Line directly on 131 444. 16.01.2022 A man and woman have been charged with commercial drug supply after more than 280g of methylamphetamine was seized in the Murrumbidgee region. Investigations began in early 2021, with Strike Force Warrul established to target the supply of illicit drugs in Griffith. On Sunday (6 June 2021), officers from the Murrumbidgee Proactive Crime Team and Detectives stopped a 31-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man as they were travelling from the Goulburn area, allegedly transportin...g a significant quantity of methylamphetamine. About 4.45am yesterday, investigators stopped a black Mitsubishi Lancer in the township of Beelbangera and spoke with the 31-year-old female driver and her 30-year-old male passenger. More than 280 grams of methylamphetamine was seized when police searched the vehicle, as well as three mobile phones and $1150 cash. The drugs had an estimated potential street value of $140,000. The items seized will undergo forensic examination. They were taken to Griffith Police Station where they were charged with supply prohibited drug commercial quantity. The woman was also charged with possess prohibited drug. Both were refused bail to appear in Griffith Local Court today (Monday 7 June 2021).

16.01.2022 While the NSW/VIC border zone was extended on Thursday (1 October 2020), travel to these areas is only permitted for border region resident permit holders. NSW Police are reminding all other NSW residents that if you travel to Victoria including the border zone ‘border bubble’ you will be unable to return to NSW without a current entry permit or authorisation to enter under the Public Health Order.

15.01.2022 A man has died following a motorcycle crash in the state’s Central West yesterday. About 3.15pm (Sunday 6 June 2021), emergency services were called to Merrengreen Road, Ungarie, about 85km south of Condobolin, after reports a motorcycle was found crashed on the side of the road by a member of the public. The rider, an 18-year-old man, was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene.... Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash. 12.01.2022 A man has been charged with murder following an investigation into a suspicious death in the state’s south west. About 2.30am on Friday 11 September 2020, emergency services were called to Sams Place, Griffith, after receiving reports of a concern for welfare. Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District attended and found a man unconscious in a vehicle, suffering stab wounds.... The 25-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene. A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic police. Detectives from Murrumbidgee Police District, with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, established Strike Force Brobenah to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. Following extensive inquiries, detectives from Murrumbidgee travelled to Lithgow and arrested a 21-year-old man at a correctives facility earlier today (Wednesday 25 November 2020). He was taken to Lithgow Police Station and charged with murder and assault with intent to rob in company causing wounding. Police will allege the younger man lured the older man to a location in Griffith and attempted to steal his motor vehicle. It’s further alleged the older man was hit multiple times with a pole and stabbed in the chest, resulting in fatal injuries. The man was refused bail to appear in Bathurst Local Court via AVL today. 12.01.2022 Police are appealing for anyone who may be able to assist police with information regarding a fire that damaged an entire vacant block near Dickson Road Griffith today. The fire was ignited around 10.50am spreading quickly across the vegetation before NSW Fire and Rescue and the Rural Fire Service attended and extinguished the fire. The weather today saw temperatures above 40 degrees and the fire reached within 10 metres of residences in Parkinson Crescent Griffith. Any witnesses to the the fire are urged to report any information to Murrumbidgee Police on 02 6969 4299 or crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.

06.01.2022 Police are reminding the community that restrictions still apply for travel from Victoria into NSW, and exempt residents must use specific routes to be granted entry at the southern border. Under a new exemption issued by the NSW Government yesterday (Friday 9 October 2020), returning NSW residents and residents of Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, and the ACT and Northern Territory may enter NSW at one designated checkpoint without a permit and only if they me...et certain criteria. These residents will only be granted entry at the George Caffey Bridge on the Sturt Highway at Mildura. In addition, they must not have been in Victoria in the previous 14 days, other than travelling on the Sturt Highway for the purpose of getting to or from NSW and South Australia. Those who are unable to meet the requirements for an exemption will be refused entry into NSW and must return to Victoria. Other specific circumstances of travel from Victoria into NSW will still require a permit. As the weather heats up, motorists are also reminded it’s not only an offence for children or pets to be left unattended in a vehicle, it can be deadly.... Everyone needs to take care in hot weather, but some people are at higher risk of heat illness, especially if they are older, live alone or are socially-isolated.
