15.01.2022 Don’t underestimate the value of our free PPSR Certificate! . On inspection this van presented really well and mechanically it was great. But our PPSR check revealed two things: - it was a 2009 model (not 2011 as advertised) - it still had finance owing on it that the current owner didn’t know about when he purchased it 18 months ago. ... . If the person paying off the finance stops making repayments, the vehicle can be repossessed regardless of who the new owner is. . Our client was very happy not to have that worry hanging over his head. We would normally advise clients not to purchase a repairable write-off mostly because they’re usually advertised for more than they’re worth and their resale value will be poor in comparison. . 02.01.2022 HOW TO AVOID A FLAT CAR BATTERY WHILE SELF-ISOLATING . In our current climate of chilling at home, our trusty cars are taking a break too. But the last thing anyone needs is a flat battery when you’re about to duck out to do the groceries. So here are a few tips to help you preserve your car battery over the coming weeks and months. . .... 1. Disconnect it. . You only need to disconnect the negative terminal. After disconnecting the battery, the central locking won’t work so you’ll have to manually lock your car with the key. The only thing required when reconnecting the battery will be resetting your radio stations, clock and possibly re-pairing your phone. There is no risk to the car’s computer when disconnecting the battery. . . 2. Charge it with a smart charger. . When connecting a smart battery charger, the battery does not need to be disconnected or removed from the vehicle. Connect the smart charger directly to the battery terminals. All modern smart chargers are self-regulating and can be left plugged in as they turn on and off automatically as required. . . 3. Turn it on and let it run. . This is the least favourable suggestion and should only be used if numbers 1 and 2 are not an option. Running the vehicle for an hour at a time twice a week will maintain your battery’s charge. Most modern vehicle alternators have the capacity to maintain the charge in your car’s battery while the vehicle is idling. . . .
