18.01.2022 Round 13 Phillip Island: Container 10/10 (Foil Tray) Gravy 3/10, Customer Service 9/10, Seasoning 4/10, Chip Type 5/10. Overall 31/50. You know each week that I roll into a West Gippsland venue and I think what happens if today is just ok and I have nothing to write about, these are the sort of things that keep me up at night. But lucky for me Phillip Island keep throwing up these unusual events that my day interesting. Speaking of throwing up, that is what I felt like doing ...after ordering chips with my gravy. I must apologize to the chap in the canteen that might have become offended when I returned the 1.5 liters of gravy that was left over after I ate my soggy chips n gravy, I wasn’t being a smart arse I was just trying to be helpful. Not sure if they got their home brand gravy to water ratio buggered up but it was defiantly bring a bib to footy day. Off to another kennel today to see what the Yip can produce See more

17.01.2022 Round 4 Koo Wee Rup: Container 10/10 (Chinese Take Away), Quality Control 5/10, Customer Service 7/10, Soy 6/10, Fork Bonus 1, COVID Cash Bonus 1. Overall 30/40. Not too bad but a bit average would be the best way to describe the KWR dim sims. The soy was toasty warm after sitting in the sun all morning. As for the dim sims they were either a bit stale or some sort of cheap and nasty home brand, as I always say, Dim Sims are like heroin, you get what you pay for. Much like Br...endan Kimber they were way too soft, not sure if it was the species of cat that they are made from or just cooked for way too long. The old duck that served me seemed like an experienced campaigner, but I did see a slight eye roll when I whipped out the credit card, no direct link with the COVID cash set up so you do run the risk of forking out $400.00 rather than $4.00 See more

15.01.2022 Round 5 Phillip Island: Container 10/10 (Chinese Take Away), Quality Control 8/10, Customer Service 9/10, Soy 9/10, Fork Bonus 1, COVID Cash Bonus 1. Overall 38/40. The normally consistently inconsistent Phillip Island has strung together back to back scores of 38 out of 40. Something must have changed at the Kennel Canteen, maybe the President has stepped in and started to take control and rule the canteen with an iron fist. The president at the kennel actually prefers to be called by his nickname The Führer oops, sorry I mean The Chief. Funny story, I saw him crying after the Pies lost the 2018 grand final, I’d waited years for the opportunity to come up, so I walked up to him and said, do you want a Hanky Chief?. Comedy gold

14.01.2022 Round 3 Phillip Island: Container 10/10 (Chinese Take Away), Quality Control 10/10, Customer Service 8/10, Soy 9/10, Fork Bonus 1, COVID Cash Bonus 0. Overall 38/40. Well good luck beating that, Phillip Island has produced near perfection. Customer service lost a couple of points because the chap that served me could have gone with a shave and I do prefer to be called Sir but other than that it was top notch. Didn’t see a COVID cash option but I shouldn’t have to ask, I shoul...d be asked cash or credit?. The Dim Sims were at a perfect temperature, the jacket wasn’t too loose or too tight, it was also soft and supple, and it had just enough stickiness so that the dim sims didn’t stick together but they also weren’t super slippery that you have to chase the last dim sim around the bottom of the container with the fork. The Dim Sims at the kennel could easily become a number one hit, I wouldn’t be shocked if you start seeing The Chinese Dragons getting around late in the day, like the much loved Beer Snake that you see at the G late on Day 1 of the boxing day test. 14.01.2022 I really hope I don't get belted for this one, but here is this weeks hint

12.01.2022 Round 6 Garfield: Container 0/10 (Brown Paper Bag), Quality Control 1/10, Customer Service 6/10, Soy 2/10, Fork Bonus 0, COVID Cash Bonus 0. Overall 9/40. In this day and age I can’t believe that something like this can happen, brown paper bag, seriously? I got about 1 and a half dim sims out of the regulation 4 because the rest had to be chucked out. Speaking of chucked out I think that if a club is going to stoop to this level, the WGFNC really has to consider whether the Garfield Zero Stars should be in the comp. At the very least they should be banned from having the granny. There is only 1 legitimate reason that they should be let off the hook, they ran out of their normal container, then that’s ok, keep up the good work

09.01.2022 Ok Chip and Gravy fans, I've created a poll to see if I should start reviewing again. I look forward to your responses. Had some cracking chips and Gravy at Warragul Industrials yesterday and it might have the juices flowing again

04.01.2022 Round 14 Bunyip: Container 10/10 (Foil Tray) Gravy 8/10, Customer Service 7/10, Seasoning 6/10, Chip Type 5/10. Overall 36/50. So my couple of improvement tips for Bunyip are as follows 1. Don’t leave your chips in the bain marie for too long, as the famous saying goes, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. Tip 2. Bloody self-seasoning, really? This really shits me (can swear now cos I’m online only) how the hell are you supposed to get the salt to the chips at the botto...m? It’s not a bucket of chips where you can shake them to get the salt through to the bottom section of chips. I understand why you choose not to season the chips, at some point you would have had some over protective parent complain that their little Jimmy can’t have salt because his farts might smell different the next day, but I’m speaking for the 99.98% of the people at the local footy who want their chips pre-seasoned. I suggest that you pre season the chips and if a soy mocca latte sipping parent complains, point them in the direction of the local soccer team and thank them for their time. The other option is that one of the canteen staff forgot to put salt on the chip, if that’s the case don’t worry about it, your doing a great job and mistakes happen. See more

01.01.2022 Round 12 Korumburra Bena: Container 10/10 (Foil Tray) Gravy 6/10, Customer Service 8/10, Seasoning 6/10, Chip Type 5/10. Overall 35/50. The Burra weren’t too far off being bang on the mark, but the main let down was no fork. I’m not saying that they didn’t have any forks, I’m just say that at the time of purchase there wasn’t a forking fork to be seen, so no forks given. Wasn’t a big fan of their chip and it was a bit on the cold side but they have to be forgiven due to the c...limate that the Burra produces, it’s generally 10 to 15 degrees colder there than any other area in South Gippsland so by the time you get the hot chips and sit down they have generally returned to their original frozen state. My Chips N Gravy rules will now be an exclusive online only arrangement, this is due to the hierarchy at an unnamed football netball club getting a sever case of hurt feeling after my last review of their backyard operation oops I mean fine establishment. Things got so bad they went and dobbed on me to the league, that right I got dobbed on and now my mum has grounded me for 2 weeks and I can’t play with my xbox, hope your happy Phillip Island, oh wait I wasn’t going to say their name, bugger, disregard that.
