25.01.2022 Back in the days when people could actually have weddings, and invite more than a handful of people and also back when couples like Jess & Pip would happily draw a cock'n'balls for the camera during their reception... the good ol' days it's a hard time for us wedding photographers (especially ones that the Australian government doesn't deem worthy of financial support )... but we will be back! if you or someone you know are planning a wedding late this year or in 2021, get in touch to discuss options for your photography..... ....as long as the earth hasn't been swallowed by a giant alien fungus, or whatever else creation has planned for us in 2020

15.01.2022 What a weird year this is.... the weirdest of all years in my life thus far . COVID-19 has brought my wedding business to a screeching halt for the foreseeable future. No weddings, no people photography of any kind . Its taking it's toll financially but money's only money. It is however making me look at where else I can go with my photography. I have some ideas brewing and I'll be sharing them with you all as they'll possibly involve you.... yes You!... . But until then, here's a shot from Luke & Dave's wedding I shot at the end of last year in beautiful Sassafras, here in Melbourne... 11.01.2022 This was the first botanical that I shot with my Nikon 35mm. After having shot professionally on digital for 9 years it's nice to choose to shoot some select images on 35mm film . There's a luxury to the colours and texture that you just can't imitate fully with digital, no matter how close it gets - not too dissimilar from music on vinyl compared to digital . I believe this flower is a Blue Iris, but Google seems to give me a whole host of variations when I type those words in... So if anyone has more accurate info - they win!

This is one of my favourite botanical images that I've shot - it's an Agapanthus flower mid-bloom - I'll be posting a whole lot more of my botanical photography on this account . Botanical photography was something I started when I was falling out of love with photography - only shooting weddings for the best part of 6 years was taking it's toll on my creativity, so i decided on another outelt..an...d my botanical imagery was born . Taking up a creative pursuit without the pressure on it to make any money felt so freeing, and it allowed me to play in the joy of just trying something different . 03.01.2022 A more recent image I shot on 35mm film A Foxglove, also known as a Digitalis Purpurea. What a flower. Thank you to those of you that have already sent me details and locations of flowers currently blooming. It's much appreciated, and it's great feeling the community spirit of creating something together. ... I'll be shooting well into winter, as it seems that many Australian flowers love coming out in winter time. I've got some research to do about this but if anyone has some solid knowledge about this, then I'd love to hear from you So if you'd like a free print, then let me know of any beautiful flowers you've come across in Melbourne, and if I end up shooting it and adding to my collection - you'll get a print for being a co-creator in this project : ) nabeel x

01.01.2022 What a couple of months. I'm still reeling from it all if I'm honest . Things seem to be slowly stabilising and I'm getting back into my creative flow. I'm not gonna lie, I've fallen out of a regular practice of photography during covid-19 . Probably in part due to losing all my wedding work this winter - my main money earner... . But where a vacuum is created, something always comes to fill its space. Aside from the shower portraits, I've picked back up my botanical photography as well as working quietly backstage on some new projects over on my art side @nabeel_khan_art - I'll be unveiling that soon . 01.01.2022 An Everlasting flower, or Helichrysum or Immortelle, apparently in reference to the flowers lasting almost forever when dried . It's funny, sometimes I look at these pictures and think how fake the colours can look, but I genuinely try to keep the colours as true to life as possible . There's something about taking a flower out of its normal surroundings, against a plain background, and suddenly the surrealism in it seems to jump out.
