24.01.2022 We learned about Cold vs Hot showers and their benefits and impacts on our wellness tonight on Tyler Tolman's weekly free webinar. This area of recovery is being explored more and more, in fact: "After the first 3 to 5 days of cold therapy for an acute injury, experts like The Mayo Clinic recommend alternating hot and cold therapy for effective pain relief and recovery from muscle tears, overuse injuries and chronic joint pain. The expansion (from heat therapy) and contractio...n (from cold therapy) acts like a pump: * During the hot therapy treatment, the blood vessels expand, increasing circulation and the flow of healing oxygen and nutrients to the injury. * During the cold therapy treatment, the blood vessels constrict, reducing circulation which allows the injured area to soak up the nutrient rich blood before it is pumped on. In summary, hot and cold therapy work cohesively to help you recover faster". At home I have been turning down my hot showers near the end and aiming to spend a minute in cooler water; I cannot say I have yet made it to fully cold but I am getting there! We also recently bought a Quantum Biohealth Mat (which I will do a future post on) which is using Far Infrared PEMF and is based around Far Infrared Heat Therapy as well as the use of crystals like jade & tourmaline. When heated these crystals create far infrared heat that penetrates 3-8 inches into the body. This far-infrared heat can improve blood flow & microcirculation. It can also help temporarily relieve minor muscle, joint pain and stiffness associated with helping arthritis, muscle spasms, minor strains and improved relaxation. Its a delight to lie on this and relax; so soothing and warming. Let me kknow if you use hot or cold therapy? Do you do The Iceman (Wim Hof) techniques or ice baths even? I may look into that at some stage too :)

20.01.2022 Starting the day with some Movement is a perfect way to wake up and ground back into our body. Plus we get lymph and blood flowing and our body more oxygenated. What is your preferred Movement in the morning? I like to stretch or do a few easy yoga poses :)
20.01.2022 This is a delicious versatile sauce to make and keep in rotation in your fridge. Nice easy option for #FoodieFriday today :) Use as a dip or sauce. The possibilities are endless. Here are a few ideas. * Use as drizzle or a dressing:... * Fresh or roasted vegetables * Salads * Kebabs - veggie or carnivore * Potato wedges * Baked Potatoes Set up as a dip or appetizer: * Pita bread wedges * Flat bread * Sliced vegetables of choice Tips: If using as a dressing, thinner consistency is better. Keeps for about one week in fridge. If mixture thickens, just whisk in a little bit of water. Make variations by adding in any chopped leafy herbs you have on hand. i.e. Parsley, cilantro, dill, basil. You can make this easily with just a hand whisk. If using blender or food processor, use a light hand so you don't over process.

17.01.2022 Cleaning the oven is the absolute worst, am I right? I know it is one of the chores that I tend to put off. For a simple solution, I use this DIY Oven Cleaner: - cup baking soda... - 1 tbsp coarse salt - cup liquid dish soap or cleaner concentrate - 5 drops Lemon or Lime essential oil (or any citrus) Directions: Combine ingredients to make a thick paste Apply a generous layer to the inside of the oven and let it sit for a few hours. Clean out with a damp sponge Voila! Easy as that! No scrubbing or chemicals necessary. Are you going to try this?

15.01.2022 Do you use any Non-Dairy or Plant-Based milks? Which ones are your favourites? We tend to have Almond Milk and Macadamia Milk in our pantry at the moment, although we have used Coconut Milk extensively in the past. My daughter has been dairy-free fully since she was very small and it has brought her many health gains. Dairy milk is not ideal for most of us and can create quite a few issues, here are just 2 taken from IAHP.org:... * Cow’s milk contains growth hormones to increase milk production. These are clearly a very bad idea for human beings * Cow’s milk contains casein, which reacts with the opiate receptors in the temporal lobes of the brain which can mimic the effect of opiate drugs Do you like a challenge? Could you switch your milk? Give it just 6 weeks and see what changes. Put a dot on your calendar today and another 6 weeks from now. Eliminate all dairy products starting today, and when you come to that 2nd dot 6 weeks from now, ask yourself what changed? If there are clear changes for the better, you have your answer and you can embrace plant-based milks full-time.

Indoor air tends to be more polluted, and certain plants work to help filter out formaldehyde and other toxic particles from the air. 10.01.2022 Generic Liquid dish soap is another one with a high score on the Think Dirty app. We all use it though, so it might be nice to just make our own! * 2 cups unscented castile soap * 20 drops Lime oil... * 8 drops Lemon oil * 6 drops Citrus Bliss Directions: * Fill a large, clean bottle with castile soap and essential oils * To use, shake and add 1-2 tbsp to dishwater or a small amount to a natural sponge So simple, yet again, MASSIVE impact! And a money saver too! Once you start to swap out these super expensive grocery store products with an easy DIY one, you will be shocked at why it took you so long to jump on board! 09.01.2022 This one is SO easy for me and I totally do not like Olives! (sorry olive lovers!) Nothing is more delicious than a freshly steamed cob of corn with some Nutritional Yeast sprinkled over it, YUM! Nutritional yeast adds a cheesy flavor to food, provides a good amount of B12 to the body, improves glucose sensitivity in type 2 diabetes patients. This means better energy levels, sleep, fewer cravings, and low risk of metabolic diseases. Finally the strain of yeast in nutritional... yeast is S. Cerevisiae which supports the immune system and helps reduce inflammation caused by bacterial infections. It can also prove to be helpful in treating diarrhoea. Nutritional yeast also helps combat hair loss and brittle nails and has proved to be a great remedy for chronic candida symptoms too - its an epic addition to food! Try it!!

They are perfect to add 1 drop wild orange, lemon or lime essential oil to as well (please be sure to use only a 100% pure food grade approved essential oil for this, I choose doTERRA)... 04.01.2022 Have you ever eaten Jackfruit? Jackfruit is a large, prickly fruit that grows on a tropical tree that can reach a height of 80 feet. The fruit grows in tropical Asian regions and is most common in Asian cuisines. It's often used in curries, especially in Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries where it's plentiful in the markets. Worldwide, jackfruit is increasingly being used as a vegetarian substitute for meat. It has a texture very similar to chicken or pulled pork, w...hich makes it an excellent "vegetarian meat" for curries, salads, and noodles. Preparing a green jackfruit takes a little doing, but it yields a lot of food. The extras can be frozen for future use, just like you would with extra fresh meat. A common way to prepare jackfruit is by boiling or using a pressure cooker. It's best to lay down newspaper over a wide working surface, then slice the jackfruit into two halves. Keep slicing until you have large chunks of fruit (leaving the skin on). Boil the jackfruit chunks for 45 minutes or until the inner flesh is soft and a bit stringy, like chicken. If you have a pressure cooker, 10 minutes is usually enough. When the jackfruit is cooked, peel off the skin to reveal the seeds and pods surrounding the seeds. The seed pods can be eaten, as well as the stringy fleshy sections between the pods and skin. Dig all of this out, separating the seeds. Cook with the "flesh" or bag and freeze it. 03.01.2022 Does your garbage disposal need a little attention? It is a great place for odours to hang out for sure Let’s talk about a recipe to help freshen, clean and deodorize our garbage disposals. What you need: 2 cups baking soda... 1 cup salt cup water cup unscented castile soap 30 drops Lemon oil - I even like Purify here too Directions: 1. Combine baking soda and salt in a bowl 2. Add castile soap and essential oil into the mixture 3. Add water, 1 tbsp at a time, while stirring until it becomes the consistency of damp sand. (It should stay together when pressed - if you add too much water just add more baking soda) 4. Scoop a tbsp of mixture onto parchment paper and let dry for 24 hours or until hardened. 5. Store in a glass jar. 6. Place 1-3 refreshers into the garbage disposal and turn on as needed for freshness! These you will only have to make once every few months, and they make such a big impact on keeping your sink smelling fresh and clean! Tell me what you think if you make a batch up!

A natural option is so simple, affordable, and easy! * cup baking soda * cup white vinegar... * 3 drops Wild Orange essential oil (or any citrus) Directions: 1. Drip 3 drops of essential oil down the drain followed by the baking soda and then the vinegar 2. Let it sit for 15 minutes. 3. Pour hot water down the drain, following with cold water Impressed? I know it was the first time I tried it! It is like a mini Science experiment too with the sizzling that happens! Try it out!

02.01.2022 Our bodies are created to crave sugar because it provides us with instant energy. This is especially true when we don’t feed ourselves enough nutrients, like protein and fiber. When our body is running low on those important nutrients, it sends signals to ‘get energy quick’! When you were young, just a cup might be enough to push you through the whole day and keep you up at night. Now, you might need a whole pot in the morning just to get you to 1 PM. Almost a picture of what you arrive in this life with. This information can form a valuable part of the jigsaw puzzle of a person's health. Tyler has determined that Iridology analysis is one of the best assessment tools available to discover which areas of the body are genetically strong and which are deficient.
