16.01.2022 We have arrived! (A day late and a buck short). Spread Love, Not Rona: your skin-loving beauty mask. Yeah, we get it, every man and their dog is selling masks, or already has one. No worries, that’s excellent. This small batch run was inspired by the fact we wanted to make something that changed the story around wearing masks, and help with the resistance to it. We realise they are a symbol of fear and we wanted to make something that represented love, community and a sense o...f looking after each other, which is why we’re wearing them. We also wanted to make something that you would choose to wear, rather than be forced to wear. . With this in mind, we lined the masks with copper infused cotton. Mainly because, well, ageing right? Copper is an essential nutrient in the production of collagen, and copper based fabrics can help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Win! As an added bonus, it also has antimicrobial properties. So, if you’re going to have something on your face all day, might as well treat yo’self and your skin. On the bright side, the longer you wear them, the more radiant you’ll become (inside and out). . 06.01.2022 Stage 4 has been a particularly hard blow for a lot of us, especially when we were already in a place of feeling isolated, trapped, overwhelmed, scared or uncertain. It is stretching our already worn mental, physical and emotional resources. But it’s important to remember that this is just a moment in time, and like all moments in time, both good and bad, they never last forever. We don’t know what will come next, and sometimes it’s hard to not see this as the beginning of th...e end; but endings also bring new beginnings. . I will be conducting all appointments via Telehealth for the duration of the stage 4 lockdown. When the walls start closing in, we tend to stop doing all the things that keep us well. We stop eating well, exercising, keeping healthy sleep routines, making time for ourselves and connecting with friends. These all seem like little things that drop off our priority list, but with every one that goes, we also lose a small contributor to our resilience. And the more things we lose, that harder it is to feel like we’re coping. Make time to love yourself and look after yourself, and if you feel like you can’t, reach out to the people who can. We may be isolated but we are not alone. If you’re finding this hard, it’s likely that everyone else it too. We are stronger together, so don’t be afraid to ask for help. 04.01.2022 For most of you who know me, socially, clinically or through having read my website, you will know that I have an autoimmune disease. It was a big driver for me to change my life and my career to become a nutritionist. Most of us in the complimentary medicine world have a similar story. Chronic illness is not always easy to manage. It can be unpredictable and scary. Up until last week my illness was completely under control, and then in the space of 24 hours it kicked into q...uite a serious flare. I am facing the prospect of immunosuppressive therapy in the middle of a pandemic. I would be lying if I said this thought didn’t terrify me, and it has been a dark few weeks, physically and mentally. However despite all of this, I am still able to feel gratitude for being ill. Because everything good that has happened in my life has been a consequence of all the hard things. All the lessons I have learnt have helped me to grow, and when it all seemed too unbearable to manage, I have survived, come out the other side and had a deeper sense of joy and appreciation for everything that I have. With all the social changes and uncertainty in the world due to COVID19, I think everyone is in a similar boat with feeling lost, overwhelmed, afraid, lonely, trapped or confused. We are collectively grieving the loss of our short term hopes and dreams, our goals and achievements, our stability, our livelihoods, our social interactions and physical connection. However, the sun will still rise tomorrow, and whatever loss we face over the next few months, no matter how great, we are strong enough to get through this, individually and collectively. We are not alone. Support each other, be kind, be open, be honest, be loving, be vulnerable.
