22.01.2022 Most of the NLG team has been working from home during the covid-19 restrictions. Some of us have had kids to supervise between client appointments and file reviews. If you’re one of our clients you may have overheard music practice during a phone or video appointment. As restrictions ease some of our staff are particularly pleased that their kids are returning to school tomorrow. Thanks teachers! We continue to offer clients service by telephone and video conference. ... It has been a remarkable effort by the community to contain the virus so far. We can work from home, so we will as far as practical, until the restrictions are further eased. See more

19.01.2022 PERSON AROUND TOWN Isaac Black How long have you been in Myrtleford? I've been in Myrtleford my entire life. I was born in the Wodonga hospital and was ...raised here. I briefly moved to Melbourne in 2017 after I completed year 12 in 2016 to study a Bachelor of International Relations. I didn't enjoy it and missed the country far too much. I decided to move back to Myrtleford in late 2017 which was the best decision I've ever made. I love Myrtleford and the community here. You don't get the same level of community support and kindness down in Melbourne. What is your job? I currently work as a Legal Assistant for Nevin Lenne Gross Solicitors. I have been with the firm since late 2017 and fell in love with the position the moment I started. I started as a receptionist in the Wangaratta office before moving into the role of a Legal Assistant in our Wills & Estates department. I have worked predominantly in the Wills & Estates department from the Myrtleford and Bright offices up until recently. I am now currently working in the Personal Injury department from the Wangaratta office. I love a lot of things about my job but the first thing that comes to mind is how much I enjoy working with such a talented team of legal professionals. We have not one, but two Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Specialists at the firm which makes me super proud to work there. It's been motivating for me to see how passionate the firm is about helping the local community with their legal concerns. What is your dream job? My dream job is to be a nurse. I currently study the Diploma of Nursing, which I am about to finish, so we are almost there! I plan to move onto my Bachelor of Nursing next year at the La Trobe University Wodonga campus so I can continue to live here in Myrtleford. After the Bachelor is finished, I'll be able to start working as a Div 1 Registered Nurse. I hope to continue working in the region and be able to provide gold-standard health care to the community. After a brief attempt at politics in 2017, I knew it wasn't for me and had to really think about what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I'm glad I began nursing. The moment I started I knew it was for me. I'm super excited to see where it takes me and what I choose to specialise in. I also currently work casually at Beechworth Health Service as a Personal Care Worker in the Aged Care setting which has been great to assist in developing my fundamental care skills. What is your favourite thing about Myrtleford? My favourite thing about Myrtleford would have to be the walking tracks and the surrounding rolling hills. My friends and I often talk about the fact that we forget that we live in a holiday destination, a region where people from Melbourne come for a getaway. It's easy to take that for granted sometimes. The walking tracks around the area, up the plantations and up Mt Buffalo are all so nice. It's something I really did miss when I was down in Melbourne. I also love the local restaurants we have in Myrtleford. It's funny that even in somewhere as big as Melbourne, you can't find a pizza made as good as Bastoni. What do you do in your spare time? I spend a lot of my spare time walking the tracks, spending time with friends, trying to watch TV shows my friends ask me to start and doing homework. This year has been a terrible year for everyone, but it's kept me very busy and it's been a great time to reflect on everything we take for granted in everyday life. I'm heading out on my final advanced placement in September and once that's done I plan to relax for a while and enjoy some extra time for myself. Hopefully, restrictions have eased a bit by October and we can all start enjoying ourselves again. What is one thing you would change about Myrtleford? If there was one thing I had to change about Myrtleford, it would be bringing some form of sushi place to the town. I know it sounds ridiculous, but my friends and I get sick of driving over to Albury for sushi train, especially when it's our favourite food ever. If anyone could visit Myrtleford, who would it be and where would you show them? If it could be anyone, it would be SZA. One of my best friends and I saw her live in Melbourne last year and fell in love after being obsessed with her music and artistry for quite a while (we literally have her album on repeat when in the car). I would probably show her Rollasons Falls up Mount Buffalo because it still amazes me every time I visit. I'd also show her our footy ovals, and pitch my ideas about how they would be a great spot for her to hold a concert every month for the rest of her life.

07.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS to Ty Redmond This week Nevin Lenne Gross (NLG) is celebrating the success of another one of their lawyers achieving accreditation as a specialist. Last week, the Law Institute of Victoria notified Ty Redmond, senior associate lawyer, that he has been accredited as a specialist in personal injury law.... Ty joins an elite group of lawyers who have gained specialist accreditation during their careers, including NLG principal Helen Collins (personal injury law accredited specialist) and Rebecca Healy (wills and estates). Nevin Lenne Gross now have three accredited specialists, the most of any firm in the region. This is outstanding for a medium sized, rural law firm. Accreditation recognises lawyers with a high level of knowledge and extensive experience. The process requires hard work and plenty of long hours of study. Ty should be very proud of this achievement, said Helen Collins. We are proud to provide high quality legal services to clients in this region and happy to be able to support our lawyers in their professional development. As an accredited specialist in personal injury law, clients can have confidence that they are receiving advice from someone who has a comprehensive understanding of how the law works in relation to their injury and is across recent developments. I take pride in being able to provide clear advice that is frank and honest and in taking the time to get a sound understanding of each client’s circumstances. I’m very excited to be recognised as an accredited specialist and to continue to provide services to this standard for my clients in North East Victoria and the Goulburn Valley, said Ty Redmond, after receiving notification from the Law Institute. With offices in Myrtleford, Wangaratta, Wodonga, Bright, Shepparton and Mt Beauty, Nevin Lenne Gross provides expert legal advice throughout the North East Victoria and the Goulburn Valley. Ty Redmond regularly attends the Nevin Lenne Gross offices in Wangaratta and Shepparton. An appointment to attend upon a Nevin Lenne Gross Accredited Specialist can be made by phoning any of our offices.
