18.01.2022 Happy Halloween little monsters! One of the benefits of calling a bar home is that you get to play with all sorts of drinks and recipes! We had some fun with @newnorfolkdistillery and made this rather gruesome (but refreshingly delicious) Eyeball Punch! The drink is a combination of tart cherry, orange juice and New Norfolk Distillery Misty Valley Silver Spirit. To make the eyeball, we used fresh Tassie blueberries stuffed into lychees. To top it off, the faux blood is ...a mix of flour, glucose syrup, red and blue food colouring dripping over the edge of the glass. We think this drink is best served icy cold and with 'Monster Mash' playing on the stereo. PS. Our friends @theeleventhorderbrewery are hosting Halloween Karaoke in our space tonight and we're pretty sure the Monster mash and other spooky songs will be on the playlist! Luckily we've recently discovered DEBrews gourmet brews, which take away all the stress of having to shop for a trolley-full of items! Each DEBrews bag is packed full of all the natural, wholesome dry ingredients you need for different meals like Risotto, Paella and Curry. We were blown away by how simple the Risotto was t...o make (pictured here). All we did was add Chorizo and Portobello mushrooms, stir in water as it cooked. 12.01.2022 Meet Tarrant, founder of New Norfolk Distillery , whose love affair with rum began with a sip of Venezuelan seductiveness in the form of @DiplomaticoRum's Reserva Exclusiva Since that fateful night, he's sailed around the Carribbean, trained in Kentucky and even met the president of Diplomático Rum himself, all in pursuit of learning more about the creation of this fine spirit! Now, his journey has brought him and his knowledge to New Norfolk where he lives with his wif...e, two pups and extended family. The distillery is located in historic Willow Court, and will be open to the public for tours and tastings soon. 09.01.2022 Did you know that the bottled cocktails have a long history way before the coronavirus pandemic? In fact, the first commercial ready-to-pour cocktails date back to 1875!! It's said that Heublein, still run by a father and his two sons at the time, received an order to make a number of pre-mixed Martini and Manhattan cocktails for a picnic. Although bad weather meant the event didn't go ahead, the family decided to sell the bottles anyway and they ended up being such a hit, ...they even built a distillery to fill demand! Business thrived and Heublein went on to become one of the giants of food and liquor distribution in the US. 145 years later, we're still enjoying deluxe ready to pour cocktails from the finest bars, restaurants and distilleries - such as these jewel-like bottles created by Taylor and Smith Distilling Co and Dier Makr . Our Providore products are living along the right wall, and bar seating is to the left Our hours have changed slightly so both Bar & Providore will be open Monday-Thursday 11am-5pm, Friday 11am-late, Saturday & Sunday 10am-late. We aren't serving food but you are welcome to enjoy cheese... and condiments from our shop, or bring in takeaway from our neighbouring food joints, to feast on with your drinks As with all dine-in venues at the moment, we have a strict capacity limit (20 patrons) so we recommend booking if you have a group - simply DM us or call 0482528239. Enter superwoman Rach, who is spearheading a new business called Seedsations doing amazing and scrumptious things with seeds (and other yummy edibles). She has taught us so much about food and the food industry. Her innovative creations have recently earned her a place as a finalist in the 'Startup of the Year' category of the 2020 Food & Beverage Indust...ry Awards! If you haven't tried one of her new bars yet, forget what you were taught about watermelon seeds and just take a big bite. Through our pop-up Providore, we're proud to be working with a stunning variety of food and beverage producers - from emerging mushroom cultivators to intergenerational winemakers, artisan chocolatiers, dairy farmers and everyone in between! We source products directly from our suppliers (often the... owners of the business) who are all proudly #Tasmanian and the majority are based right here in our council region of the Derwent Valley So this week, support our local food artisans by shopping locally and buying conciously and sustainably whenever you can.
