22.01.2022 From one 'moment', good things can happen and this is what 2020 Newstead College graduate, Lauren Spencer, experienced. Not only is Lauren a talented student, being the runner up Dux of Newstead last year, as well as in the top 100 students in the state based on her ATAR score, she was invited the represent student opinion on the UTAS Recommendation Program with Education Minister, Sarah Courtney. Lauren spoke so well and was unfazed by the barrage of questions asked by the media. As a result of this 'moment', Lauren was invited to be part of the UTAS Ambassador's Program, which is a paid position representing the university while she is studying a Bachelor of Education degree. Congratulations Lauren, you handle yourself with poise and this has been deservedly rewarded.

Well done to her teacher Tania Glanville! An outstanding achievement for Isabella and Newstead College.

18.01.2022 FINAL DAY of classes @ NEWSTEAD COLLEGE! The students enthusiastically took to the gymnasium for the final assembly for 2020, not virtually this time, with presentations, media clips and music from the band consisting of Romana, Brayden, Kieran and, on lead vocals, Jonathan. Who doesn’t love a round of ‘Run to Paradise’? One notable part of the assembly was Reuben’s heartfelt speech about the impact Newstead College has had on him. He spoke of his teachers, the production and his friendship group. His comment, ‘this was the best two years of education’ resonated with many. Newstead thanks the class of 2020 for their commitment and enthusiasm. Best of luck for the future!

02.01.2022 CHANGES TO SCHOOL BUS SERVICES 2021 The Department of State Growth contracts school bus services with private contractors throughout Tasmania. As part of its management of contracted services, State Growth recently undertook the Bus Services Review Project to review services state-wide to ensure that they continue to operate efficiently and meet a broad range of travel needs. Changes to school bus services travelling between Perth, Devon Hills, Evandale and Launceston are par...t of the final stages of this project. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of changes to the school bus network for students travelling to and from Queechy High School and Newstead College. These changes will be implemented from the start of Term 1, 2021: - The Perth to Prospect (via Devon Hills and Glenara Lakes) school bus service operated by Calow’s Coaches will be removed. This bus is primarily used by St Patrick’s College and Prospect High School students, but may also be used by other students to travel to Glenara Lakes interchange in the morning. If there are any students currently catching this service from stops in Perth and Devon Hills, they will be able to catch the Jack’s Longford to Newstead bus in the morning to travel directly to school. - There will be no changes to travel to Perth and Devon Hills in the afternoon. Students can continue to catch the Jack’s Newstead to Longford bus as they currently do. - There will no longer be a late afternoon service between Glenara Lakes, Relbia and Evandale. Any students currently travelling on this trip can catch the Deddington to Launceston school bus service operated by Redline from Launceston College or Glenara Lakes Interchange. However, please note that this bus does not travel via Relbia. You will now find route maps and timetables for 2021 here: www.transport.tas.gov.au/public_transport.
