19.01.2022 Tomorrow marks the start of Kambarang! During this season we see an abundance of colours and flowers exploding all around us - wildflower season is well and tru...ly here! Many plants and animals undergo a transformation as the days get longer and the weather begins to get warmer. The Mooja (the Australian Christmas Tree) begins to flower, with the bright orange and yellow flowers serving as a signal that heat is on its way. The Noongar calendar has six seasons, each representing the changes we see in the environment. Learn more about the Noongar seasons on the Bureau of Meteorology's website: https://bit.ly/2rP5zbx

17.01.2022 Some days life can feel so overwhelming. From the moment you wake up in the morning, you face situation after situation threatening to negatively affect your mi...nd and attitude. Discouraging news headlines. Family drama. Difficult relationships. Financial struggles. One small interaction seems to ruin your entire day. But then you open Facebook and something catches your eye mid-scroll. A Bible Verse pointing to the comfort God provides. You stop to read the post and are left feeling like your heart has become lighter. The problems you woke up to aren’t gone, but they don’t seem to have such a hold on you anymore. In a space that can be full of criticism and comparison, we intentionally seek to make social media a place of comfort as we point to the Truth of God's Word. We believe that God’s Word is living and has the power to transform minds, hearts and souls through social media. How have you been impacted by the Proverbs 31 Ministries Facebook Page? We’d love to hear how God’s worked through social media!

17.01.2022 The secret to surviving hard times doesn’t lie in what you know, but who you know. You say, ‘Right now I’ve got more troubles than Job.’ Well, when the bottom d...ropped out of Job’s world, he said: ‘He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold. My feet have closely followed His steps; I have kept to His way without turning aside. I have not departed from the commands of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread.’ (Job 23:1012 NIV) Continue reading today's devotion www.thewordfortoday.org.au

16.01.2022 Desiderata By Max Ehrmann 1927 Original text... GO PLACIDLY amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

16.01.2022 Reflections: 26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with g...roanings too deep for words. Romans 8:26 ESV Dear friends and family, when we are ‘stumped’ and don’t know what to pray; Holy Spirit then tells us what to pray. Lord Jesus struggled which road was okay; Yours and not my will then told Him which way. God sends His Helper when ‘clouds turn to grey’; peace, hope and comfort then ‘comes home to stay’. Hallelujah! Pastor Keith C. Truscott See more

16.01.2022 It’s our job now to give them a night they will forever remember. The town of Doomadgee has raised over $8,000 for their NAIDOC Ball Under the Stars, a first for the remote community.

12.01.2022 Your Bible is a loyal companiondon’t hesitate to write in the margins of its pages. I find that including the date in my notes often helps me better reflect on... my journey with the Lord. Every Sunday for the last 40 plus years I take notes of sermons on the margins of my Bibleit helps me to: 1. Remember the teaching 2. Teach it’s truths to others 3. 05.01.2022 Are you looking forward to the return of the hot weather? Kambarang (second spring) is the Nyoongar season of birth and sees an abundance of colours and flow...ers exploding around us. One of the most striking displays of flowers seen during this season is the "Moodjar", or Australian Christmas Tree (nuytsia floribunda). The bright orange flowers are a signal the heat is on its way and longer dry periods accompany a definite warming trend. The Moodjar is a powerful symbol for Noongar culture, with the spirits of ancestors resting in the branches. However, the unique, giant mistletoe has a sinister side it is the world's tallest parasitic tree that sucks moisture from other plants. Kambarang sees the yellows of acacias continue to abound, along with banksias and other smaller delicate flowering plants including kangaroo paws and orchids. Also during this time balgas will also start to flower especially if they've been burnt in the past year. October is the time of the year you'll most likely encounter a snake as the reptiles awaken from hibernation and look to make the most of the warm weather as they look for food. It's also a time many young families of birds will be singing out for their parents to feed them and koolbardies (magpies) will also be out protecting their nests and their babies. The Nyoongar calendar has six seasons, each representing the changes we see in the environment. Learn more about the six seasons on the Bureau of Meteorology's website: https://bit.ly/2rP5zbx. 03.01.2022 A new research project titled 'Healing Land, Healing People: Novel Nyungar Perspectives' will unite modern Western science with the cultural knowledge from loca...l Indigenous Elders to conserve the biodiversity of the Dryandra Woodlands near Narrogin, Western Australia. The five-year project is being led by Curtin University’s Darryl Kickett, a Noongar man who grew up near the Dyrandra Woodlands area. Mr Kickett said the project provides the opportunity for reconciliation between the Noongar people, non-Indigenous community members, and land. They’ve been trying to fix this [decline in biodiversity] without the involvement of Aboriginal people, so perhaps with the involvement of Aboriginal people there might be something found that could slow the decline in biodiversity, Mr Kickkett said. In that process, whilst working together we have a big opportunity to progress reconciliation and build spiritual resilience not only amongst Aboriginal families but other families in the area. NIT has the story: https://nit.com.au/western-science-and-cultural-knowledge-/
