04.01.2022 Mental health has become more important than ever in these strange and difficult times. The isolating effects of the pandemic has seen an increased number of p...eople struggling with mental health. The state government has invested more than 30 millions dollars in mental health services with the growing concern for our community. There has been an increase in young people in particular who are experiencing these health concerns. Much of this increase has been linked to the mandatory introduction of home schooling. This shows just how important human interaction and community participation can be. If you or anyone you know are suffering from anxiety, depression or the like there are always people outside of the medical profession that can help. Take advantage of the recent ease in restrictions that allow people to see their friends and family. You can now meet up with one friend or family member outside for exercise or socialising or with your household. If you live alone or you are a single parent you can also form a social bubble with one other person. Finding an outlet is also a great way to destress and invite a sense of joy and achievement. Whether it’s cooking, painting or learning an instrument, finding a passion can be extremely invigorating. A hobby that can be done whilst we are in isolation can particularly have an energising effect. 04.01.2022 A new Coroner’s Court report has revealed that as many Victorian boys have taken their own lives in just nine months in 2020, as did over whole years before the... COVID-19 pandemic. 13 males under 18 suicided before September 30 this year, which compares with 13 teenage boy suicides for all of 2019, 10 in 2018 and 11 the year before. A total of 530 Victorians have suicided this year so far; 391 males and 139 females. These numbers are extremely upsetting but it is important to bring awareness around what is happening around us.
