18.01.2022 HOW TO MAKE A PAPER PLATE CAT CRAFT SUPPLIES: paper plate acrylic paint (color of your choice)... pink cardstock paper (or construction paper) googly eyes white string black marker scissors glue DIRECTIONS: 1. Start by trimming off the sides of your paper plate to make a cat body. Now cut a strip out of the top to make cat ears. Use one of the side strips you cut off for the cat tail and cut out two cat feet out of the other side strip. Discard the leftover pieces. See pictures below. 2. Paint all of your cat pieces with your acrylic paint and let them dry completely. Once your paint is dry glue the feet and tail onto the cat body. 3. Cut out a cat nose from your pink cardstock paper and glue it onto your paper plate. Cut out small strips of white string and glue them onto the sides of the nose for cat whiskers. 4. Finish your paper plate cat craft by gluing on googly eyes and using a black marker to draw on a mouth. Isn’t it adorable? You can also visit the link below to see the example pictures. 14.01.2022 It's arts and craft day! Paper Plate Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Craft FOR OUR PAPER PLATE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, WE USED:... paper plates coffee filters paint green, red, blue, purple, orange googly eyes black marker glue We started by painting our paper plates green. I put out a few different shades of green because the hooligans love to mix colours when they’re painting. Offering 2 or more shades of the same colour lets them see what happens when they blend and swirl the paint together, and the darker and lighter shades add depth and highlights to our projects. While our paper plates dried by the fire, we painted our coffee filters. These would be the Ninja Turtles’ masks: red for Raphael, blue for Leonardo, orange for Michelangelo and purple for Donatello. At first I’d planned to use wide ribbon or felt for the turtles’ masks but it turned out I didn’t have enough each colour in either the ribbon or the felt. Fortunately, we had just painted coffee filters a couple of weeks ago when we were making poppy crafts, and I suspected we could use that process to make our masks. We did, and it worked very well. The girls painted the coffee filters in the Ninja Turtles’ colours, and when they were dry, we folded them in thirds. The kids glued them across their paper plates, and they were a perfect fit. As soon as we had those masks on the plates, without even adding anything else, they looked like ninja turtles. It’s amazing how we’ve come to associate that coloured band on a green background with TMNT’s. There’s definitely no mistaking that look! Next, we added two big googly eyes to each turtle. One hooligan applied her glue straight on to the plate, while the other added hers directly to the googly eyes. With the eyes in place, it was time for our turtles’ mouths. This is where the marker comes into play. Once all the mouths were drawn on, our paper plate Ninja Turtle collection was complete! https://happyhooligans.ca/paper-plate-teenage-mutant-ninja/ Have fun and see you next time! #nightnannies #artsandcraftsday #

07.01.2022 National Child Protection Week is a wonderful opportunity for everyone in the community to think about how we can work together to keep all children safe. Importantly, we want to remind everyone that: We ALL have a part to play in protecting ALL children... Even small actions can help to improve a child’s future By building stronger communities, we are creating safer environments for our children. Don’t wait until a child has been abused or neglected before you do something. We need to work together as a community to STOP this from happening in the first place. #nightnannies #nationalchildprotectionweek #aussiekids
