25.01.2022 Stopping the spread of COVID-19 is everyones responsibility. Together we can stop the spread.

25.01.2022 Residents across New South Wales are urged to monitor weather reports and health advice as the state is expected to experience heatwave conditions in the coming days. The Bureau of Meteorology warns temperatures are generally expected to increase over the weekend. As the weather heats up, motorists are also reminded it’s not only an offence for children or pets to be left unattended in a vehicle, it can be deadly.... Everyone needs to take care in hot weather, but some people are at higher risk of heat illness, especially if they are older, live alone or are socially-isolated. Remember to; Stay well-hydrated Avoid alcohol and hot or sugary drinks Limit your physical activity Try to stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day Wear light, loose-fitting clothing made from natural fibres like cotton Regularly check your forecasts from the Bureau of Meteorology on radio, TV, internet or App Get advice from your doctor about whether your medication and/or your medical conditions may affect what you should do if it gets extremely hot Make sure you know who you are going to call (who may need help, and who could provide help to you if needed); make a list of telephone numbers and make sure they are current. If you can, it's a good idea to spend some time in an air-conditioned building. For more information please refer to the Beat the Heat website: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/environment/beattheheat Livestock and pet owners are also being urged to ensure adequate clean water is always available and that shading is provided where possible. Additionally, no animals should be left in confined, unventilated areas. Members of the public should also regularly visit the Rural Fire Service website at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au for updated bush fire warnings and information. For updated weather forecasts and warnings visit www.bom.gov.au.

24.01.2022 Criminals are often opportunists, and will target homes with poor home security to steal belongings. You can secure your home by taking a few simple steps which... will significantly lower the risk of your home being the target of thieves. Here are some simple steps we all can take to help protect our home. Secure your home Fit quality security doors, windows, locks, alarms, lighting and warning signs Secure all windows and doors. Activate your alarm, smoke detectors and security lighting. Lock your gates, sheds and garages. Check your home Ensure your street number is clearly visible. Keep trees and shrubs trimmed to improve visibility around your home Lock away items such as ladders, tools and gardening equipment. Dont leave spare keys outside the home. Dont leave valuables, mobile devices or keys (home or vehicle) in clear view. Mark valuable property and record details. When away from home Use a timer to activate an internal light or radio to give the impression someone is home. Have family, a trusted friend or neighbour check on your home. Inform them of your travel plans, park a vehicle in the driveway, collect the garbage bins and mail. Consider redirecting your mail, newspapers and deliveries. Never advertise your travel on social media sites.

17.01.2022 Summer is a popular time for going on holidays, and we are reminding people to take some time to assess their home security before they head away. Most of the recommended precautions are very simple, particularly just checking to make sure doors and windows are locked and secured an unlocked window in an empty home, full of valuables, is an opportunistic thief’s dream. We also recommend limiting what you post on social media about your holiday, especially if your home will ...be unattended for an extended period. It’s relatively inexpensive to put a good lock on your letterbox and ask someone you trust to empty it regularly or organise to have your mail held at your local post office while your'e away. The NSW Police Force has a wealth of information about safety and security, including fact sheets, available at: https://www.police.nsw.gov.au/safety_a/safe_and_secure/home If you have concerns about possible criminal activity in your local neighbourhood, call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/
