24.01.2022 123 burns are planned over the Easter weekend in the Canobolas zone, some are planned in the Kings Plains area. Smoke will most likely be visible over this time, so please only call 000 in an emergency. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Easter weekend. If you are travelling, remember to drive safely.

20.01.2022 Prepare an Emergency Survival Kit before the bush fire season starts. Keep your Emergency Survival Kit in a waterproof storage container in a location that is easy to get to and that the whole family knows about. This will make it quick and easy to find when you need it. The seven essential items to pack in your Survival Kit are: Portable battery-operated radio Waterproof torch... Spare batteries First aid kit with manual Woollen blankets Emergency contact numbers Drinking water Before you leave add: Cash, ATM cards, credit cards Medications, toiletries and sanitary supplies Special requirements for infants, elderly, injured, disabled Mobile phone and charger Important documents (passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, insurance policy), valuables and photos Change of clothes for everyone Remember to prepare for your pets as well. 15.01.2022 The new Fire Season starts on 1 October for our Zone. Make sure you know the rules.

15.01.2022 Notification of a burn. The fire season has ended and permits are no longer required for burns. However 24hrs notice to adjoining properties and the RFS is required all year round for all burns. 13.01.2022 Fact: Your safest option is to leave early. A bush fire can be a terrifying situation, intense heat and flames will make you tire quickly, it will be difficult to see and breathe. You may become confused or disorientated. Powerlines and fallen trees can block roads and make driving dangerous. It’s always better to leave early, before the fire arrives. 08.01.2022 Weather warning for Central Tablelands graziers Bureau of Meteorology is predicting colder weather for our region through the rest of this week. Sheep grazie...rs are warned that cold temperatures, showers and strong westerly winds are expected. Snow is forecast down to 600 metres this weekend. Be prepared! Move livestock to sheltered areas and feed out additional fodder if possible to cope with the expected cold and windy conditions. Lambing ewes and freshly shorn sheep are most susceptible in these conditions any type of shelter you can provide for them will be beneficial. Cattle may also be at risk particularly pregnant cows or those with young calves. 07.01.2022 Fact: There will never be as many fire trucks as there are houses. Do not depend on a fire truck being available at your home. But if you and your home are well prepared, you stand a better chance of surviving a bush fire. There are simple things you can do around your home to prepare it for a bush fire, like keeping the grass low and having a cleared area around your home.
