22.01.2022 The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for HEAVY RAINFALL for people in parts of #MidNorthCoast, Hunter, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands Forecast Districts. Issued at 1:12 pm Tuesday, 29 December 2020. HEAVY FALLS LIKELY ABOUT NORTHERN NSW... Keep up to date with warnings at http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/ Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include #CoffsHarbour, Armidale, Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri, Coonabarabran, #Woolgoolga, #Sawtell and #Dorrigo. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 4:15 pm.

17.01.2022 A quick reference on when to call NSW SES

15.01.2022 Earlier today, NSW SES Coffs Harbour Unit responded to a single vehicle #MVA in North Boambee Valley. After using our e-draulic jaws of life tools to partially remove one side of the vehicle, our crews assisted NSW Ambulance with extrication of the driver who was then transported to hospital. #rescue #nswses #stateemergencyservice #coffsharbour #coffscoast #midnorthcoast #CFS45 #jawsoflife #edraulics

14.01.2022 At this time of year we see a large increase of travellers and holiday makers to the #MidNorthCoast. While you’re here, it is important to be aware of what is going on locally and understand local risks so you can enjoy and have a safe and happy time in our beautiful part of the world. So please be aware because of steady rain over the past week or more, local river systems and waterways along the East Coast and in particular the Mid North Coast area are very full at this poi...nt in time. With #thunderstorms and heavy localised #rainfall predicted for this area over the coming days we could again see rivers, creeks and causeways levels rise very rapidly. Be aware of the local conditions if #camping or #caravanning on river banks for the chance of rapid rise in water levels or isolation due to waters rising over low level bridges. There is a Flood Watch currently in place for the following rivers: Orara River Bellinger and Kalang Rivers Hastings River Manning and Gloucester Rivers Paterson and Williams Rivers Full bulletin at http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/flood/floodwatch1.shtml Stay up to date with the BoM issued warnings and local conditions by monitoring the BoM www.bom.gov.au and local roads www.myroadinfo.nsw.gov.au and livetraffic.com.au Please contact the #SES on 132500 for help in floods or storms If the situation is life threatening call #triplezero 000 immediately. Please don’t drive, walk, ride, paddle or play in flood waters. Enjoy your time in our part of the world and stay safe we want to see you back again. http://publish.viostream.com/play/nf75g57n9qy51k

11.01.2022 COVID-19 has thrown up some interesting challenges. None the least was keeping teams current with things like First Aid training where socially distancing is just not practical for practical . With a relaxation of training guidelines we have finally been able to accredit and recertify First Aid operators within the Unit. #firstaid #savinglives #sesrescue #training

10.01.2022 Heads up - with possible thunderstorms and heavy rain occurring across almost the entire state today and the next few days, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued an initial #floodwatch for the Mid North Coast and Hunter regions. Note this is an Initial Flood Watch, not a Flood Warning. A Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.... Flood Warnings will be issued by the Bureau of Meteorology if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service. Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy rain is forecast or observed. Catchments likely to be affected include: #OraraRiver - minor flooding #HastingsRiver - minor flooding #ManningRiver and #GloucesterRiver - minor flooding #WollombiBrook and #LowerHunterRiver - minor flooding #PatersonRiver and #WilliamsRiver - minor flooding Stay up to date with the latest Warnings: http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/
