23.01.2022 Crews from 312 Gulgong remain in attendance at a silo fire at Manildra in the state’s central west, together with crews from 380 Molong, Fire and Rescue NSW Sta...tion 216 Bathurst, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 412 Orange, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 105 Kelso and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 284 Delroy, along with numerous crews from the NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW Police Force and NSW Ambulance. Crews initially responded just after 10pm yesterday evening after a fire broke out inside the flour mill, and are expected to remain in attendance for a significant period throughout the day, while firefighting operations continue. Motorists are advised to avoid the area, and to follow instructions from on scene emergency services crews. More than 1000 man hours contributed from North West Orange in the black summer 2019-2020 bushfires, from Northern NSW border down the great dividing range and coastal regions to the southern border. 07.01.2022 From today (Thursday 26th) a low intensity heatwave will impact most of NSW. Into the weekend a severe heatwave is forcast for Saturday through till Monday. These conditions with high grass fuel loads, and the current curing rate in these grasses, might cause higher rates of spread. Please avoid any hot works or machinery operation on the weekend and report any fire to 000 Very high fire danger is predicted for Saturday and Sunday.

07.01.2022 Even though summer has finished, the fire danger today is very high, all permits are suspended for the day while this fire danger is in effect. Please be mindful of what work you might be doing could cause a fire.

After more than 30 years in the Service, and after more than 12 years as Commissioner, Shane Fitzsimmons leaves the organisation today. He's taking up a new role within NSW Government as the Commissioner of Resilience NSW and as Deputy Secretary of Emergency Management. Shane has seen us, and the community, through some of the toughest of conditions and experiences during this time.... We say farewell and 'thank you'.
