A musical celebration of the symbiosis of the Latin American community and Venue 505, an institution in the Sydney live music scene. Over more than 10 years the team at 505 have provided indispensable support and opportunities for Latin American performers in Sydney, helping to create a foundation from which Latin American artists have played an outsized role in enriching the Sydney and Australian live music scene. To celebrate this partnership, 5 Latin American acts will take to the stage at The Old 505 Theatre on 21 November as a showcase of Latin American artists in Sydney, and as a show of thanks to this standard bearer for Sydney live music venues. In other words: Five for 505/Cinco por 505! Lily Guerrero Lily Guerrero developed her interest in music from a young age and now performs as a singer, dancer and multi-instrumentalist. Well-known for her work with the award-winning show band, Salsa Kingz, as a soloist Lily brings her passion for folklore to a range of covers and original compositions. Stephen Aguilera-Mendoza and Cesar Marin Stephen Aguilera-Mendoza and Cesar Marin have been performing and writing songs together for over 30 years, including as part of seminal Australian Latin American bands SONIDO and Veneno. As a duo they perform a mix of original compositions and covers from around Latin America. Canto Libre Canto Libre is a group of young musicians carrying on South American traditions through folkloric music. Inspired by their musical families, they play a diverse range of wind, string and percussion instruments, bringing to life the Andean spirit and embracing the strong social messages of their repertoire. Angela and Carlos Angela and Carlos is an intimate project with members of the renowned Cumbia Orchestra Cumbiamuffin: Angela Rosero and Carlos Arango. Having played together for more than 10 years, the pair perform with natural and fun chemistry, covering some of the most beautiful classics and joyous Latin American music gems. Angela and Carlos seamlessly move between boleros, Argentine zambas, valses, cumbias and more. Enrique Berbis Enrique Berbis is a multi-instrumentalist Latin musician based in Sydney who has performed throughout Australia and internationally over the last 30 years. Enrique’s musical journey began with Bolivian folklore and has expanded to include Afro-Latin genres from Cuba, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Enrique also performs Rumba Flamenca, the music of his Spanish ancestry.
