25.01.2022 Liturgical Ministry Roster for September - https://mailchi.mp/e90ebbaf7/august-ministry-roster-7895708
25.01.2022 November 15 is the Feast of All Carmelite Souls Carmelites remember with love and thanksgiving all those people who have handed on to us the heritage of Carmeli...te life and spirituality. We remember especially those we have known and who have deeply enriched our own living of Carmelite life. These brothers and sisters of ours may not have been famous spiritual writers nor renowned for extraordinary experiences of prayer, but they made their mark on the Order and on each of us through their own efforts to live in allegiance to Jesus Christ in service to the Order and to the Church. May God welcome them fully into the Divine embrace.
24.01.2022 Following today's government announcements, please read our latest COVID-19 update. Please note in particular that from tomorrow, Mass attendance is limited to 100 people, and the wearing of face masks is mandatory.
22.01.2022 Following the catastrophic explosion in Beirut this week, Caritas is there to help the countless number of people in need.
18.01.2022 As we all deserve some joy and happiness at this time of year, we're celebrating every day of the Christmas season by posting a Christmas song. Our first song is the carol that most often begins our Christmas Masses here at Wenty: O Come, All Ye Faithful. This version is sung by the world-renowned choir of King's College at Cambridge University. Merry Christmas from the Carmelite Community and everyone at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
18.01.2022 Dont forget your mask when you come to Mass this weekend.

17.01.2022 The new year promises to bring many things to look forward to, things to celebrate, and new beginnings; and our parish is no exception. Another milestone for us all to celebrate this year is our 75th Anniversary! The Parish of Wentworthville was formed from part of Parramatta in 1946. Although placed under the patronage of Our Lady of Mount Carmel when the Carmelites arrived ten years later, Wentworthville was originally under the patronage of St Columba of Iona.
17.01.2022 During November we especially pray for all those who have died. With not everyone able to Mass at this time, you can still ask us to add names to our remembrance book and have your loved ones remembered in our community's prayer. Visit www.olmcwenty.org.au and click on the "November Masses" link in the top menu.
17.01.2022 When you come to Mass now, we encourage you to check in with the Service NSW QR code registration, as well as our attendance record. Registering with the QR code on your phone makes it faster and easier for NSW Health to contact you and perform contact tracing if someone at Mass is diagnosed with COVID-19.
17.01.2022 On Saturday 8 August Fr Donato De Jesus Maral was ordained a priest at St James Church, Hera, Timor-Leste. The ceremony and feast afterwards were attended by o...ver 1,000 people. Archbishop Virgilio do Carmo da Silva, SDB was the celebrant. Fr Carlito Da Costa Arajo (Provincial Delegate for Timor-Leste) represented Fr Paul Cahill (Prior Provincial) who was unable to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions. For the past year Donato has been a member of our community at Coorparoo (QLD), studying English and exercising his ministry as a deacon before returning to Timor-Leste in July. Congratulations, Donato! See more

16.01.2022 Migrant and Refugee Sunday is observed in the Church on Sunday 27 September. It is a time when the whole church throughout the world celebrates the resilience and contribution of migrants and refugees to the church and society. It is also a time where we bring awareness to the issues Migrants and Refugees face. We are currently in a crisis within our diocese due to COVID-19. Thousands of people seeking asylum and on temporary visas in our diocese have lost their jobs or are relying on organisations like Jesuit Refugee Service and House of Welcome for income, housing and food bank support. We as Catholics are called to be in solidarity with our brothers and sisters through prayer, sharing their stories and action. (Courtesy of Diocese of Parramatta)
16.01.2022 Pope Francis has called on all Catholics to take part in a day of prayer and fasting for Lebanon today, following the devastating explosion in Beirut. We join in prayerful solidarity with those who are mourning and continue to suffer from this terrible tragedy.
15.01.2022 On 17 September Carmelites celebrate the Feast of the author of the Carmelite rule, St Albert of Jerusalem. Albert did not impose all his own ideas on the group... of hermits who came to him - he listened to what they told him about their way of life, and he adapted it and gave it structure. In the instructions he gave to the first Carmelites, he is careful not to be too demanding or rigid - he stresses the importance of common sense in interpreting what has to be done. This openness and flexibility gives a great "human feel" to the Carmelite Rule. For the Carmelite, after the Bible, the most important document in our lives is the Rule of St Albert. Despite being the shortest rule of all the religious orders it has nevertheless been a bedrock for Carmelite life in all its facets for over 800 years. St Albert was a brilliant mind who managed to fashion tremendous wisdom into his compact text. Saint Albert of Jerusalem was born in Emilia, Italy in the mid-12th Century. He became a Canon Regular of the Holy Cross at Mortara (Pavia) where he was elected Prior in 1180. He was appointed Bishop of Bobbio in 1184 and of Vercelli the following year. During his 20 years there he undertook a number of missions of national and international importance. He brokered peace between the cities of Pavia and Milan in 1194 and between the cities of Parma and Piacenza in 1199. In 1191 he held a Diocesan Synod, the statutes and decrees of which continued to serve as a norm until modern times. In 1205 he was elected Patriarch of Jerusalem and soon after nominated as papal legate for the ecclesiastical province of Jerusalem. He arrived in Palestine early in 1206, taking up residence at Acre, at the foot of Mount Carmel, as Jerusalem was occupied by the Saracens. In Palestine he continued his peace-making efforts not only between Christians but also between them and non-Christians. On 14 September 1214 he was stabbed to death during a procession to celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross by the Master of the Hospital of the Holy Spirit whom Albert had denounced for his unjust and abusive behaviour. Somewhere between his arrival in Palestine in 1206 and his death in 1214 the first group of Carmelites asked Albert to write for them a "formula of life" which later became the Carmelite Rule approved by Pope Innocent VI in 1247.
15.01.2022 We also pray today for the end of Nuclear Disarmament in solidarity with the end of Japans 10 Days Of Peace that started on the 75th anniversary of the atomic bomb explosion.

09.01.2022 Today we celebrate the feast day of St Mary MacKillop. This year also marks 10 years since the canonisation of Australias first saint. St Mary is one of the two patron saints of the Dioceses of Australia, and is the patron saint of our Diocese of Parramatta. Pictured is the state of St Mary in our church, carved by Engelbert Piccolruaz, and installated as part of our church renewal works in 2017. Let us pray today that, like St Mary, we may embrace the cross of Christ in our own lives, trusting in the plan and providence of God.

02.01.2022 Hallowe'en (Holy Evening) This evening, during Vespers, we will gather in silence in the cloister outside our church. Candles will be lit, holy water poured and... sprinkled, sweet incense will curl its way through the air enveloping our senses, the organ will play and we will process slowly and solemnly into the church. Thus begins a holy time in our Church's year, a liminal time, a time when we enter into what the Celts call "a thin place", when the veil between heaven and earth is very thin. All Hallows Eve, All Saints Day and All Souls Day are the special days when we remember our dead. These are blessed days, days of celebration but also days of deep memory and connection. May we enter into this time, this "thin place" with stillness, reverence, reflection and gratitude. See more
