These wise words by Marilyn may be on the money however, the College of Podiatry found that after one hour, 6 minutes and 48 seconds pain sets in and theres a high chance all of her conquering is going to be done on a chair. Women do love their high heels, but if you wear them all the time, significant foot pain and other problems can ...ensue, either as a direct result of the heels or exacerbated by them. Rest assured ladies we can provide you with the right know how you need to help ease the pain. Tip 1: Consult a Professional! Your feet have a multitude of muscles crossing its joints. Some muscles travel from as far as the shin down to the foot. Others interconnect under the arches of your foot like a grid. The tighter you are before you put on a pair of heels the more you exacerbate the problem. The more you wear heels the worse it becomes. Sometimes the issue doesnt even arise at the foot. 16.01.2022 Is it worth going under the knife? Degenerative inflammatory conditions, such as osteoarthritis, are the cause of thousands of Australians going under the knife each year. The financial burden aside, physical impairments such as pain, stiffness, weakness and decreased quality of life plague individuals affected by this condition.... The pervasive nature of osteoarthritis can be demoralizing, and hence people with osteoarthritis are more likely to identify themselves as disabled. Therefore, it would be justifiable for these individuals to want a fast and cost effective solution to their problems. The use of joint replacement surgery is common practice for individuals with severe osteoarthritis. But is it really worth going under the knife? Many conservative treatment options such as progressive strength training, specific stretching, soft-tissue management and nutritional alterations are not explored near often enough before opting for surgical intervention. The issue in the minds of patients is often related to the time and consistency required with conservative treatment. Although they require a little more effort and guidance, rest assured the results are promising. Building strength, gaining flexible and having the correct nutritional balance has helped many of our patients live a pain-free life without the need for surgery.

16.01.2022 What is Dry Needling? Dry needling is a treatment technique proven to be successful in the relief and release of soft tissue specifically knots and areas of tension within the muscle. This modality of treatment targets trigger points and differs to acupuncture which targets meridian channels. There are two categories of dry needling-superficial dry needling and deep dry needling. As the name implies, superficial dry needling does not reach the myofascial trigger points and is... painless. With deep dry needling the needle goes directly into the myofascial trigger points, eliciting a twitch response, similar to what occurs when the knots are palpated. The twitch response shows that the needle has reached the knot and pain is reduced or relieved immediately. Deep dry needling may trigger a persons referred pain. For example, dry needling of myofascial trigger points in the upper trapezius (upper back) or sternocleidomastoid muscles (at the side of the neck) may trigger the patients migraine. Many doctors recommend dry needling as the first step in therapy when pain is present, however patients have to be screened before beginning therapy. Some medical conditions such as infectious diseases, immune disorders and skin problems are contraindicated for this procedure. Some may not treat patients on blood thinners. Knee pain (especially at the front of the knee and under the kneecap) is a common condition seen in our clinic especially in runners and also women between the ages of 30-50 starting out their new exercise program. It is surprisingly also seen in women who regularly wear heels. Common symptoms include pain with squats/lunges, difficulty climbing and descen...ding stairs, and even pain when sitting for long periods with your knees bent. Its not uncommon to even experience pain that worsens as your day goes on. A number of factors can cause anterior knee pain! They can be habitual factors like poor movement patterns, tight muscles, overloaded muscles, muscular imbalance, structural imbalances, congenital deformity, poor foot or hip alignment as well as dozens of other factors. Sometimes the risk factors can be present for years only however they only become a problem when start exercising! Heres some workout tips for those of you with knee pain which we would highly recommend 1. Ice your knees for 15-20 mins after each workout 2. Decrease the incline on the treadmill or walk on flat areas instead of hills 3.
