19.01.2022 One Set Cup Doubles: April 5, 2020 - It's a Sunday with kickoff at 9:00am. Currently we have 20 entrants and we're shaping up to have 10 very strong combinations. It's the 7th Edition of this tournament of goodwill. As always the aim is to bring family & friends together. Sadly Daniel Varacalli won't be back to defend his crown with Jimmy Jack Camilleri, but there will be many more tournaments down the track. If anyone from the past is also considering re entering the One... Set Cup family, don't hesitate to contact me. The doubles tournament is where everyone can make their mark. In future news, the One Set Cup singles is scheduled down the track in the spring for Sunday October 11, 2020. Life's too short. Bringing Family & Friends together.

18.01.2022 The One Set Cup - The 10th Singles Championships is set for Sunday March 17th 2019 at Ryde council courts behind Next Gen. We have a full book of 20 entrants with a number of reserves, such is the anticipation for this years tournament. Here are the 5 groups that will lead into a new 12 player championship knockout playoff series. 17.01.2022 One Set Cup Proposed Date Sunday December 10. Management have sent through the emails. Well see over the next week who is keen. If you havent received an email and youre keen, just reply to this bulletin. At present we have around ten starters. 14.01.2022 David Gatt won the One Set Cup final 6-2 today against Russell Garnett. Josh Camilleri defeated Luke Moroney 6-2 to take out the Tray. This was Daves 4th final, a real breakthrough. More info and updated rankings to come, after a super day. Heres some of the colour from One Set Cup IX.

11.01.2022 ATTENTION: Some large scale changes to the draw due to a couple of unfortunate late withdrawals. Apologies to all concerned. Luke MORONEY has filled one of the spots with his friend Frank LARIA. So Id like to take this opportunity to welcome him into the One Set Cup fraternity. ... The updated draw will be in as soon as I get confirmation of the person that is taking the final spot. Entry Fee: Entry fee per player is $25. 08.01.2022 What a super day. Arguably the greatest One Set Cup ever. Huge thanks and respect to my Tournament CoOrdinator Luke Moroney who is an Absolute Machine. Many thanks to Tanya Camilleri for her rock like support and bringing the draw I left at home this morning. Congratulations to Josh Camilleri and Ben Sofiak who defeated Ian Wood and Celeste Moroney 6 - 4 for the Doubles Trophy. The Consolation Cup was taken out by James Camilleri & Jean Claude Ong who just pipped mother daugh...ter team Lisa Marie & Vicky Gatt 7 - 5 in a tense all or nothing battle. Both games were awesome and everyone all class. Josh and Ben lifted against the might of Ian Wood, defending their serve and taking on his. Celeste Moroney was outstanding all day, jagging the crucial points and providing a solid base for Ian to go for his gun shots. But credit to Josh who held his nerve down 0-40, choking on his huge heart... he fought back to serve out 4 straight points in a never seen before comeback of a true champion. Then he and Ben had to hold their nerve as Ian serving bombs to stay in the fight, came up with 3 double faults. Josh pounced after a gypsy Sofiak return had Ian & Celeste on the back foot. The pressure was too much with Ian losing his first service game of the tournament at a point of no return. Game Set Match. To everyone .... respect goes to all of you for a great day. Despite the mixed start, everyone lifted and really got things going without any fuss. A remarkable group. So many close games, the Doubles is a wonderful leveller. In the interests of responsibility, respect, and considerations relating to CoVid-19, Ive made a difficult decision to postpone the One Set Cup Doubles scheduled for April 5. Today we are 2 weeks away from that big date & there is likely to be further Government restrictions between now & then. Amongst other considerations such as increased risk through contact & travel, this decision is more a standard to protect everyone.... For the One Set Cup, at this time, this is the right thing to do. We are taking the Prime Ministers messages seriously. Australia needs us to do our bit. Huge respect to you all. The One Set Cup loves its people, and in future will continue its efforts to bring family & friends together. #Abracadabra

07.01.2022 ATTENTION: NEXT TOURNAMENT One Set Cup Singles Tournament: The 10th Championships - Sunday March 17, 2019 ... Bringing family and friends together - Lock it In - its on again! Location: Ryde Tennis Courts on Weaver Street behind the Next Generation Fitness Centre. Details: Sunday March 17, 2019 - 10:00am kick off with a 4:00pm finish. Equipment: No need to bring tennis balls as all tennis balls shall be supplied on the day. However bring your own tennis racquet, bring your own drinks and food. David Gatt will need to bring the trophy as the reigning champion! Form Guide: It will have been a long time between drinks dues to the past 3 scheduled tournaments washed out, but the usual suspects should still hold their form. Obviously David Gatt will be primed to repeat his heroics from the Last OSC singles. Competition Format: A round robin stage and a knockout finals stage leading to the Tray and Cup Finals, looking for around 16 entrants but if theres more well cater for it. The entire tournament will again be played with the OSC Super Deuce Point system. Well also be looking at a draw that essentially enables people to play opponents of similar and fair ability. Kick off for first games is 10:30am with the Final usually starting around 4:15pm to 4:30pm. These will be the 10th One Set Cup Singles Championships. 04.01.2022 Congratulations goes out to David Gatt who won Series IX of the One Set Cup Singles Championships played on Sunday February 19. David after suffering an earlier surprise group stage loss to Russell Garnett, turned the tables in the "rematch" final to score an emphatic 6-1 victory and register his first One Set Cup Singles Championship title. The Tray was won by Josh Camilleri over Luke McTav 6-2.... The Awards: OSC Match of the Tournament: The Russell Garnett vs Andrew Henry Semi Final story.... it was just special. OSC Rising Star: Joshua Camilleri, who was yet again the best performer under 23. OSC Chairmans Fair Play Award: Nathan Gatt. What a legend. He was bashed from pillar to post in all his matches, but hung around right to the end, supporting the tournament and as always, one of the very last to leave the arena. Nathan never complains, always turns up, puts in and plays injured. No fuss. Very humble, I cant say enough about him. Nathan is what the comp is all about and I thank him for his presence. OSC Encouragement Award: Frank Agostino, worried many with his big serve. Hes become the Goran Ivanisevic of the OSC.
