25.01.2022 "Participating life insurers had made the commitment that potential exposure to COVID-19 would not be used to decline an application for cover, charge a higher premium or apply an exclusion to certain benefits offered within the policy." This pandemic has brought issues of health and finance to the forefront. Now is as good a time as any to review your insurance cover. Life insurance and disability insurance can be purchased with superannuation.... Happy to have a Zoom chat with anyone interested in finding out more about putting in place adequate life and disability insurance. This includes providing quotes from all of the major insurers. Email is [email protected]

25.01.2022 The graphic shows the ASFA Retirement Standard benchmark for budgeting for those in retirement. When planning for retirement, this is a great starting point when determining how much super (and possibly age pension) you will need.

22.01.2022 Licensed financial advice fees have sharply increased in recent years to the point that it is out of reach of many "ordinary" Australians. Investment, superannuation and retirement planning are some of the most sought-after types of financial advice according to recent research conducted by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). With Online Super Advice you get to speak 1:1 with an ASIC-registered financial adviser via Zoom video-conferencing about thes...e and other topics. Providing the advice online allows us pass on our cost savings, keeping our advice costs well below the industry average. In many cases our advice fee can be paid from superannuation so there can be no out-of-pocket costs. There is no fee for the initial consultation. At the end of the consultation we will let you know if we believe our advice can improve your situation and will let you know our fee so you can decide if you wish to proceed to the next stage. You have nothing to lose and may actually learn something during the consultation. Book a no-obligation Zoom chat now. Email :[email protected] or phone: 1300 399 236.

22.01.2022 The cost of providing licensed financial advice continues to rise and "average" people are being priced out. Financial advice is especially valuable for those approaching retirement. The superannuation, investment, taxation and social security systems are complex so it is well worth receiving professional advice to make sure you are optimising your outcomes.... Online Super Advice (OSA) exists because we believe that delivering financial advice via video-conference (Zoom, Skype, etc) is not only convenient and cost-effective, but is also a neccesity in this current coronavirus crisis. Furthermore, because OSA is not aligned to any superannuation fund, we can use our financial planning software to find the best superannuation and retirement products in the market. You also get ongoing access to a licensed financial adviser with over 10 years experience providing superannuation-related advice. Email: [email protected] to arrange a no-obligation appointment.

22.01.2022 Very interesting stats. One way to avoid poverty in retirement is to put retirement plan in place now. Email: [email protected]

21.01.2022 Happy New Year (a little late, I know!). This is a great little article outlining some of the recent and upcoming changes to super.

20.01.2022 "Until now, the superannuation system in Australia has effectively been a growing pool of accumulated savings but from here on, even as that overall pool continues to grow, there will also be a significant flow of private pension money out of it to retired super fund members."

19.01.2022 As the current financial year comes to an end and a new one is about to start, this infographic is a reminder of the main ways you can grow your super. The devil is in the detail, so feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

19.01.2022 "In uncertain times, investors often panic and make knee-jerk decisions in an attempt to limit their losses. Yet history suggests the best strategy for long-term investors is to do the exact opposite. Rather than getting caught up in daily market movements, even when they are extreme, generally the most sensible approach is to do nothing at all."

18.01.2022 In this video I talk about investment fundamentals in light of the current Coronavirus. I also point out the flaws in the current system that allow fund managers to take excessive risk with the funds of those superannuation members who have not actively made their own investment choice and who are invested in the default investment option.

15.01.2022 With 1,000 Australians retiring a day, there has never been a more pressing need to undertake this research and gain a deeper appreciation of the complexities and barriers at play. We believe the results gained from this research add to our understanding of the important role advisers play in setting up people for a happy retirement.

14.01.2022 The Low-Income Super Tax Offset (LISTO): If your income is $37,000 or less during the financial year, you may be eligible for LISTO. LISTO is a tax offset that your super fund receives and is equal to 15% of the concessional contributions youve made to super during the previous financial year. ... The LISTO payable is the lesser of 15% of your concessional contributions and $500. So, lets say you earned $30,000 and your boss contributed 9.5% as an employer contribution (which also counts as a concessional contribution), you would be eligible for LISTO of $2,850 x 15% = $427.50 This happens to be the 15% super contributions tax that your super fund would have deducted on your concessional contribution. LISTO is essentially an acknowledgement that lower income earners are disadvantaged by the 15% super contributions tax that applies to concessional contributions and seeks to offset the effects of the blanket 15% contribution tax that applies to concessional contributions. As long as your super fund has your Tax File Number, LISTO is automatically applied to your super.

14.01.2022 This is a video I recently shot which explains the reasons for starting Online Super Advice. I did it without a script and in one take so excuse the slip-ups and nerves :) Hopefully this gives you a better idea of what Im trying to achieve with this business, website and Facebook page

13.01.2022 "Its now apparent that some super funds juiced up their investment returns by holding a disproportionately large number of illiquid assets such as infrastructure assets, or commercial property in their investment portfolios."

12.01.2022 This is a great piece explaining the contribution rules that apply when the total super balance approaches $1.6m. It also explains the concept of transfer balance accounts that applies to the pension phase of super.

12.01.2022 This video was made about 6 months ago in December 2019. Covid-19 has seen a massive increase in the use of video-conferencing (especially Zoom). The main idea behind Online Super Advice is to use Zoom to make it easy and affordable for everyday Australians to engage with a licensed financial adviser to receive NON-ALIGNED superannuation-related advice and education. There are dozens of super funds and even more investment options.... While advice from your super fund may be "free", it only considers your existing super fund and may cost you tens of thousands of dollars over the long-term if you are invested in a high-cost option that under-performs. At OSA we use adviser-only financial comparison software to enable us to research a range of top-rated super funds and investment options to create a superannuation portfolio that balances cost, volatility and performance. There is no fee for the initial Zoom appointment. It is a chance for us to understand your existing super fund and to see if we can add any value to your situation. If we believe that no value can be added, we provide you with general advice and leave it at that. If we believe we can add great value to your situation, we will provide you with a quote for creating a Statement of Advice - this advice fee may be payable from super. Besides finding the right super/pension product we also provide strategic advice that makes the most of the superannuation rules. Our financial modelling tools will show you how much better off you are likely to be over time as a result of our advice. Feel free to email [email protected] to arrange a no-obligation phone or Zoom chat. *Please note that we are currently working on a new website. WE CAN ARRANGE IN-PERSON MEETINGS FOR ANYONE IN THE SYDNEY REGION.

11.01.2022 "Finding other means to create wealth has become more critical and suggests that superannuation will play a more prominent role."

11.01.2022 Happy New Financial Year! We start the new financial year with not-so-good superannuation news. Half a million super members have reduced their super accounts to zero because of the covid-19 early access rule changes, the majority of whom are under 35.... The good is that through good financial advice you can give your super a boost. Call Online Super Advice on 1300 399 236 to arrange a free Zoom or phone appointment to learn about how you can grow your super again no matter what your life-stage.

09.01.2022 The table shows a comparison between super invested across 3 different platforms: Corporate Super (on the left), Retail Super (middle) and Industry Super (right) The main point of this post is to show that the main driver of performance of your super over the long term is asset allocation (the mix between growth and defensive assets) as well as fees (the lower the better).... The secondary point of this post is to show that the platform (corporate, industry, retail) does not really matter - they are simply names. What matters most are the underlying investments.

09.01.2022 "Not having enough money to finance retirement remains the top cause of financial anxiety for Australians, but the concern greatly diminishes once people retire, National Australia Banks latest well-being survey shows." The above excerpt is from the Australian Financial Review, 19th February 2020. Some of the major benefits of retirement planning are:... - Provides clear goals for the future - Provides a target date for you to work towards - Helps you optimise the amount available for retirement - Helps you determine how best to invest your super - Helps you know where you income is coming from in retirement - Helps you navigate through the complexity We only travel this way once. An expertly prepared retirement plan helps alleviate your anxiety and helps you to look forward to a fulfilling retirement with no regrets.

09.01.2022 We have seen markets tumble before but they will bounce back and that is an important message, particularly for those who are still accumulating. For clients who are transitioning to retirement, they are the ones who more than ever will need to speak to a professional about their income requirements. Online Super Advices purpose is to provide affordable superannuation and retirement planning advice to everyday Australians, no matter their super fund. We are qualified, ASI...C-registered and members of the Association of Financial Advisers, the Tax Practitioners Board as well as the Association of Independently Owned Financial Professionals. Contact [email protected] or direct message me to arrange a no-obligation discussion.

08.01.2022 This is yet another article outlining how the cost of providing licensed financial planning advice continues to rise. The average cost of producing a Statement of Advice is now $2,671. This comment in the comments section at the end of the article sums it up:... "$2,671?! Must be very basic advice for that price..." The new reality is that because of ever-increasing compliance obligations, quality financial planning advice is becoming out of reach for most "ordinary" Australians. For those willing to embrace technology, the cost of receiving personalised superannuation and retirement planning advice can be significantly reduced. Online Super Advice uses Zoom video-conferencing to keep overheads as low as possible so that we can deliver our Statements of Advice about 25% more cost-effectively than the industry average. Video-conferencing is not only cost-effective, it is convenient and the "screen-share" facility allows the adviser to explain complex concepts using graphs and diagrams in real time. You can also invite your adult child/accountant/lawyer into the virtual meeting room even if they dont live in the same state or city! 07.01.2022 "....actuaries Rice Warner, reckons members are likely to experience average returns of just 5 per cent over the next decade, rather than the 7 per cent to 8 per cent to which they have become accustomed."

07.01.2022 Interesting video about COVID-19 and its effect on superannuation.

06.01.2022 "The bottom line is that without super, seven out of 10 Australians would have zero at retirement other than the age pension. Today, whether you look at average or mean, they do have a level of money that makes life easier in retirement," he said. "And thats a good thing."

04.01.2022 "Super funds would not want people taking money out early which may mean their members are not given the best advice. I see a strong need for an independent advice organisation to play that role," Mr OHalloran said. Whenever I read articles like this I get frustrated because I know that onlinesuperadvice.com.au is the solution that these executives keep talking about. Everyone is looking for a solution that provides unconflicted, affordable superannuation and retirement pla...nning advice to "ordinary" Australians. Onlinesuperadvice.com.au is that solution. Having worked in this industry mainly as a practitioner since 2004 I have a deep understanding of the issues and of how non-aligned advice can be delivered cost-effectively through a combination of human skill and technology. The only thing missing is trust. The Royal Commission only focused on the worst cases and this has tarnished the reputation of the financial advice industry. The reality is that advice from your super fund is like asking a barber if you need a haircut - their advice is inherently conflicted. #superannuation #affordable #retirementplanning #nonaligned

03.01.2022 Staying in a poor-performing and/or high-fee fund could cost you tens of thousands of dollars by the time you retire. There are dozens of superannuation funds - only a select few are high performing. Your super is your money. You can stay put or you can move.
