The two ways to differentiate pain are: acute pain in the case of injury or infection chronic pain develops when its related to another condition that has almost healed but the pain persists beyond the normal expected healing time.... Pain can be described as a dull ache to a severe stabbing pain and anything in between; how pain is described and the severity will depend on the cause and also each individual person has their own perception of pain. Which can make treatment of pain, especially in chronic pain conditions difficult.
