11.01.2022 We recently witnessed some great parenting behaviour by some wood ducks with their very young chicks (possibly freshly fallen from the nest). They camouflaged themselves and their chicks on the edge of some mulched material by laying flat and very still. As we approached, the dad kept his eye out for danger - on us. As soon as we got too close with the camera, he made a noise and mum jumped up, squawked and ran with the chicks in tow; dad bringing up the rear. We left this little family to relax again but it was something we'd never witnessed before and felt needed sharing.
