10.01.2022 Football St George (FSG) has ambitious goals to grow and develop female football within our region as a key priority of our strategic plan 2021-24. Interest and grassroots participation are growing strongly in St George, which is demonstrated by a 25% increase in female players in the past 5 years. We are seeking to drive to parity of participation (boys and girls) to ensure talented footballers have tremendous opportunities to achieve success, to develop their skills and bui...ld on their enjoyment of the game. Along with the rest of the sporting community, we were thrilled when it was announced that Australia and New Zealand would co-host the FIFA Womens' World Cup in 2023. FSG will ensure that we use this significant opportunity for football to leverage participation, both on and off the field. For the first time ever the Association has a female Chairperson, Irene Hatzipetros, and our female football sub-committee continues to make positive and valuable contributions to the development of the game in the district. The Association also re-introduced a Girls Skills Acquisition Program (SAP) on a part-time basis in 2020 and have also developed a new skills training program with Sydney FC, specifically for girls in the region. Our part-time program allowed players to continue to play football at their local club, whilst also representing the Association in the Football NSW SAP competition. To further support the pursuit of our objectives around female football, FSG are now seeking applications for a newly created part-time position of Technical Director - Female Football. Funding for the position will be from our Pathway Programs budget. The role has been created to assist FSG to achieve key female football participation objectives. The position will play a crucial role in supporting our clubs and delivering our female football pathways to attract and retain talented female participants in the game. To apply for the position please click here: http://footballstgeorge.com.au//FSG-Female-TD-Position-Des A key responsibility for the new Technical Director will be to oversee the delivery of the Associations Girls SAP and we are pleased to confirm that details of the 2021 trials are as follows: Football St George Girls SAP (part-time) Trials Venue: Poulton Park Training Field (Synthetic FSG) Date: Tuesday 24th November U10 & U11 @ 5pm U12 & U13 @ 6.30pm Register: To register for our trials please complete the online form using the following link https://forms.gle/u14xSx3GdFXz9EAC7 Note: The part-time program requires all girls to be registered with a local Football St George Club.

10.01.2022 TO ALL CLUBS, Please see below advice from Football NSW. Hi all,... We’ve just received the below communication (and letter attached) from the Chief Health Officer to the sport and recreation sector easing restrictions on sport from this weekend. Key points for community sport are that from Saturday, 26 September 2020: *Interregional community sporting competitions may recommence without restricting these activities to regions or zones, provided there is a COVID-19 Safety Plan for the school or community sport activity in place; *More than one parent may now attend community sporting activities if physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres can be maintained between people that are not from the same household; *Non-essential adults should continue to be excluded from sporting activities; *Community sports organisations and participants should continue to avoid shared travel arrangements such as car pooling and bus travel; *Continue to minimise gatherings before and after the event; and *Ensure strict compliance with all other elements of the COVID-19 Safety Plan. As was discussed yesterday, some Associations intend to maintain restrictions such as the one-parent rule etc. We appreciate that each Association is entitled to decide the extent to which they will follow and apply these recommendations, however, please be conscious that there is likely to be some media coverage around this easing and you may end up receiving some negative feedback or pushback on match days if your procedures are tighter than those recommended by NSW Health. We simply wish to flag this and, if it applies to you, you may wish to consider clearly communicating your Association’s position to participants ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.
