18.01.2022 The Senior lower grade men’s team’s will begin training this Thursday. Our numbers for the 6 teams we have nominated are very full. Training space at the club is at a premium at the moment due to the football season being pushed back from COVID so our G Grade players are training at Camberwell Reserve in Balga the rest are at Inglewood Oval. 16.01.2022 Hi everyone The Committee are trying to get shade over the batting cages up on List Field. Unlike other states, we don't have a state grants program focused on shade but Cancer Council have advised that it would be helpful if members completed the form at: https://www.myuv.com.au/shadestories/. The more people that complete this form, the more the data can be used to advocate for getting shade built. To fill in the form you might like to use some of the following informatio...n: Name of place/space - Batting Cages on List Field at Inglewood Oval Suburb - Inglewood Please rate the quality of shade at this space - poor Would you like to see - more shade Tell us what’s good / poor about the shade: Baseball is a summer sport and is played by children and adults alike. Children are at greatest risk of UV induced skin damage with skin cancer in later life. Summer UV levels in Perth are routinely more than 4 times the WHO safe level of UVI 3. The return on investment of adding shade to the batting cages will be realised every day that this facility is used not just in summer. This is because UVI levels only fall below 3 in Perth in June and July. The batting cages are used my members of the community as well as by Perth Baseball Club as a range of sports can utilise the facility (cricket, softball, etc). Given we spend $90 million treating skin cancer in WA every year, investments like shade over the batting cages will help to reduce that figure. 05.01.2022 Eastern Phantoms trounce Brisbane North Brisbane North had trouble keeping up with Eastern Phantoms in a 17-3 loss on Tuesday. Eastern Phantoms opened up scoring in the first inning. Eita Samukawa grounded out, scoring one run. In the bottom of the second inning, Brisbane North tied things up at two when an error scored one run for Brisbane North.... Eastern Phantoms pulled away for good with 11 runs in the third inning. In the third George Calverley homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs, Brady Manning singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Cooper Murphy drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored three runs for Eastern Phantoms, and Toby Franklin doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Benjamin Nesbit led things off on the hill for Eastern Phantoms. Nesbit lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out six. Caesar GARDINER was on the hill for Brisbane North. The pitcher allowed two hits and seven runs over two and a third innings, striking out one. Hannah WILSON, Paddy McLOUGHLIN, and Patrick CROTTY each contributed in relief for Brisbane North. GARDINER, Austin WINLAW, and Connor JONES each collected one hit to lead Brisbane North. Franklin led Eastern Phantoms with two hits in four at bats. See more
