24.01.2022 Dont forget your feet act as the foundation to your body alignment

24.01.2022 Today is World Mental Health Day, and we would like to take this opportunity to be a part of raising awareness for this very important issue. Mental Illness ca...n have many causes, and as allied health professionals, podiatrists see first hand the impact that poor foot health, and the pain and immobility that can accompany it can have on mental health. With 1 in 5 Australians affected by mental illness, now is the time to break the stigma and start talking about it. So lets spread the message and support each other. As the World Mental Health Day messaging states: "Life isnt just about getting through things on your own. Its not about pushing yourself to the limit. You cant handle everything on your own, and its completely okay."

23.01.2022 One of the cases from yesterday: Young lady with a painful Bunion and Tailors Bunionette had this correction done as day surgery. A Tailors Bunionette is a mini bunion on the 5th joint. Its called Tailors because, tailors used to sit cross legged on the outer edge of their foot, and therefore their 5th toe joint. The procedure to correct this is a mini version of a bigger bunion.... Please note all surgical procedures carry risks. Consultation with an adequately trained professional is advised for those considering surgery. Individual results may vary.

23.01.2022 As of today, March 25, all non-urgent elective surgery will be temporarily suspended. Only Category 1 and some exceptional Category 2 surgery will continue unti...l further notice. This will apply in both the public and private health systems. *EDIT* 1. The deadline for the suspension of semi-urgent category two and three elective surgeries at private hospitals would be extended to April 1. 2. This is does not apply to general podiatrists doing in rooms procedures such as ingrowing nail surgery. We will have a more detailed statement on this released later today. 17.01.2022 Well done EAGLES!!

17.01.2022 Today was all about life support Id like to share some handy take home messages and reminders from today thanks to Time Critical CPR and First Aid. 1. Chest compressions (2 per second) are KEY to saving lives. Keep going until help arrives ... 2. If you dont want to do mouth to mouth then Dont let that stop you from doing CPR! Continue the compressions as it draws air and more oxygen than the two breaths. Hands Only CPR is still very effective! 3. Every 2 minutes check to see if the person is breathing. They need a minimum of 2 breaths in 10 seconds. 4. To protect yourself, if the person vomits or has an obstruction in their mouth, use THEIR own fingers to scoop it out. 5. Get the EMERGENCY+ App on your phone. It will track your exact location. 6. In cases of burns, rinse the area with cold water then wrap with PLASTIC CLING WRAP. No air means no pain! It also helps contain the very important plasma until you get medical help. 7. Dial 106 instead of 000 if you are unable to talk. This is a service that allows you to TEXT. This is handy if youre somewhere noisy, are physically unable to talk or are trying to stay quiet in the case of an intruder etc. 8. An EpiPen for allergy/anaphylaxis in most cases only lasts about 5 minutes, so you may have to use several until help arrives or you get the person to the hospital. Please note the above does not replace CPR training or medical advice. It is given in good faith. Dont forget to renew your certificate if needed. CPR training by qualified trainers and organizations save lives.
