24.01.2022 Equality, fairness and community describe our electorate and define our nation. Let's seize this moment to build a positive future for jobs, our economy and the environment. Equality is something that we don't just hope for but we demand.
23.01.2022 LIVE on RPPFM - Voice of the Peninsula chatting about the NBN.
23.01.2022 State Member for Frankston, Paul Edbrooke MP has provided a summary of today’s announcement. I want you to know that as your Federal Member of Parliament, I’m here to help if you need anything or have questions.
23.01.2022 "Robodebt. It must be one of the greatest public policy failings ever seen in Australia. Where a government has preyed on the vulnerable in society, that it is here to represent, in order to fix a budget deficit.... In most other Western democracies... the government would have fallen over robodebt".
22.01.2022 It's important for parents, children, and our economy. See how much your family will save under Labor’s plan https://bit.ly/3ncTPqQ
22.01.2022 About to go into the Federation Chamber to give a speech calling on the government to introduce a National Integrity Commission and reverse cuts to the National Audit Office. Then straight to a meeting with Minister Tudge to discuss transport infrastructure funding for Dunkley. Another busy week planned in Canberra.
21.01.2022 Local stories. Local people. Local news. Our local community radio, RPPFM - Voice of the Peninsula. Coming soon to Frankston RPPFM, multicultural programs thanks to a State Multicultural media grant supported by me and Paul Edbrooke MP... The rest of my speech about the importance of local media and why it is crucial to safeguard and properly fund the ABC is on my YouTube channel.
21.01.2022 Finishing this week of Parliament with Patricia Karvelas on ABC. Can’t wait to get home tomorrow after 6 weeks of being your voice in Canberra.
20.01.2022 The demand on Community Support Frankston has doubled during the pandemic. And it could get worse with the federal government’s removal of JobKeeper in March and the lowering of Job Seeker rates. Community Support Frankston need our help to support disadvantaged people and families experiencing poverty over the festive season.... The 30th Annual Frankston Community Appeal is on now Are you able to help out? I’ve included their flyer and location drop off points in the comments.
20.01.2022 What a privilege tonight to listen to Julia Gillard’s reflections on her new book ‘Women and Leadership’. As our first female Prime Minister and in the work she is doing post politics, Julia shows girls and women that they can be leaders too.
19.01.2022 Meet Chalia and Caitlin, two amazing students from Elizabeth Murdoch College They've joined me for a terrific Dunkley Community Conversation about waste disposal and the environment. I even put the talented Chaliah on the spot to sing for us.
19.01.2022 The public want it, why won't the Morrison government deliver it? This week's Essential Poll revealed that two thirds of Australians want the federal budget to prioritise building more affordable houses. It just makes sense - investing in public and social housing is good for the economy, good for jobs and good for people.
19.01.2022 This policy ticks a lot of boxes. Labor’s plan to ‘Rewire the Nation’ will invest $20 billion to rebuild and modernise the power grid for the full capacity of the growing renewables sector - and to create thousands of construction jobs. Australia should be a renewable energy superpower, but our electricity transmission system is desperately outdated.... We can create more jobs, protect the environment and lower power prices. But it needs vision and leadership.

17.01.2022 Chatting live with RPPFM - Voice of the Peninsula.
17.01.2022 When Mary, a 94-year-old grandmother in aged care tested positive for COVID-19, she was moved out of her own room and left isolated, hungry and alone for 3 days. As her daughter told me, during that time, ‘her heart was broken and every morning she was praying to die’. It took another 3 weeks before she was given a shower. Our aged care system was broken before COVID-19; the tragedy of 2020 has made that clear. The Royal Commission has heard countless stories of aged care r...esidents being left dirty, hungry and alone in their rooms. It’s not the staff who are to blame, it is the system. Mr Morrison needs to fix this sign our petition https://bit.ly/33JNATL
17.01.2022 Liam from Oakwood School is an amazing individual Committed to fairness, equality and community, Liam is a great asset to the school community. Liam always ensures his peers and new students are included in class (and the daily Uno tournament). ... This year was the first time Oakwood School has received the Louisa Dunkley Shield and it was pretty special to present the award to Liam

17.01.2022 A Better Recovery where no one is held back and no one is left behind. Yesterday I hosted Labor Leader Anthony Albanese for his first speech of 2021 where he outlined Labor's plan for a better recovery. Here are just some of the policies that prioritise job creation to help us rebuild our nation and economy.
15.01.2022 For the first time in almost a quarter of a century, pensions will not be indexed. In Dunkley, 23,413 local pensioners will be affected. Pensioners have been facing rising health, dental, energy and grocery bills for years. Average GP out-of-pocket costs alone have gone up by $11 under this Government.... And the cost of fresh fruit and vegetables has increased by over 5 per cent in the last six months. I'm calling on the Government to immediately end the freeze of the pension to help pensioners balance their budgets and support jobs and local businesses.
15.01.2022 Celebrating community - from First Nations people to brand new Aussies. Huge smiles all round today at the Frankston citizenship ceremony, welcome all and thank you for choosing us. 15.01.2022 Thank you! Today the City of Frankston Bowls Club hosted a Pink Day fundraiser, raising heaps of money for Breast Cancer Network Australia. Well done to all the players and supporters for participating!
15.01.2022 Guru Glenn needs little introduction. Co-Founder of That’s the Thing About Fishing, founder of Frankston Community Connect and of course, a Frankston local. Glenn is well know for TTTAF clinics for kids with disabilities. He also works to create safe spaces for people experiencing problematic mental health and domestic violence to connect. ... As a man who has lived a colourful life, Glenn understands the importance of community.
14.01.2022 This should never happen. 94 year old Fred can’t use the internet and gets flustered on the phone. So when his wife passed away, he had to go to Rosebud Centrelink to sort out the pensions. ... Fred had to stand in line for 90minutes - to be told he had to come back another day with more paperwork. Later that day he collapsed and was hospitalised.
12.01.2022 Happy Sunday! The Frankston Market is back! Paul Edbrooke MP and I are here until 1pm. Come on down.
11.01.2022 There’s no better place to be this long weekend than on the beach or out on the beautiful bay! But please, please be careful on the water. The Coast Guard Frankston volunteers are absolutely amazing - but you really don’t want to need their help (particularly not if I’m driving the rescue boat ).
11.01.2022 In orange today for International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Every woman deserves to feel safe, respected and equal at home, at work and everywhere in between.
11.01.2022 RIP Deano. Summers at my house growing up were long days with cricket on the TV, Dean Jones always seemed to be there. A Victorian and Australian legend, he will be remembered and missed.
10.01.2022 Today and tomorrow will be hot. Don’t forget to make sure your pets are ok. And if you can, leave a bowl of water outside for the birds and wildlife.
10.01.2022 Very proud to be the ambassador for Frankston & District Netball Association (Jubilee Park)’s ‘Step Back Into Netball’ program. Their message of ‘keeping active for both our minds and bodies’ is something we can all get behind. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we’re back playing sport.
09.01.2022 Such a magical moment. 20 years ago today.
08.01.2022 A new mental health service ‘HeadtoHelp’ is now operational at Young St Medical Centre in Frankston. The service is available to anyone of any age and who may or may not have a GP mental health treatment plan. The new federally funded service offers multidisciplinary teams of mental health workers, including psychologists, mental health nurses, social workers, and alcohol and drug workers to provide extra support during the pandemic.... Call 1800 595 212 for more info.
08.01.2022 Aaand, it’s a wrap for Parliament for 2020. What a year. What a huge final two weeks in Canberra. I fought hard to protect your wages, to get better support for people and businesses who need it, and for greater investment in our community. ... For all the details, keep an eye out for the last Dunkley Parliamentary Wrap of 2020 tomorrow. Tonight, I just want to say - I miss you all and I can’t wait to get back to Frankston tomorrow.
08.01.2022 This is Arthur Stone. In the late 1970s his daughter Penelope said she wanted to play basketball. Two matches into the season, the coach quit. Arthur stepped up to fill the spot. He took a coaching course. And a refereeing course. Since then, no team he has coached ever finished lower than runner-up.... 42 years later and 85 years young, he is still a referee. He loves refereeing juniors. Men’s A&B grade less so. Today VBRA Frankston and Frankston Basketball - FDBA honored Arthur for his outstanding service to the game and community. We thought he was hanging up his whistle - but it seems he just can’t walk away, promising to come back and do a couple of games next year. Thank you Arthur for inviting me to share today’s celebration with you. It was a privilege.
08.01.2022 On the 11th day of the 11th month, we remember those who fought and died in the line of duty to keep us safe. This year, Remembrance Day commemorations will be different. The Australian War Memorial Places of Pride Project asks us to come together virtually - take a photo of your local memorial and send it to the AWM website, along with a short story about why that memorial or Remembrance Day are important to you. Let’s make sure our community is well represented in the Pla...ces of Pride project. www.placesofpride.awm.gov.au
08.01.2022 From Monday, Jenny’s part-time JobKeeper payments will essentially be halved. She’s terrified about covering her basic living expenses and about using more of her limited savings to pay bills. These cuts to JobKeeper are coming at the worst possible time for many workers, businesses and communities who are relying on it, and it will make the recession even deeper.... 21,775 workers in Dunkley could be worse off and up to $19,401,525 will be ripped out of the local economy every fortnight. It makes no sense for the Morrison Government to be withdrawing support without a comprehensive jobs plan to replace it.
07.01.2022 These two penguins both lost their partners. Every night, they comfort each other as they look across Melbourne’s lights. We may not be able to put our arms around everyone we love this NYE, but we can remember to send messages of love and support. Goodbye 2020.... It started with devastating bushfires and ends with a global pandemic that has taken the lives of 1.9mill people and just won’t go away. It has been a year of disappointment and challenge. But it has also been one where we have been reminded to value what we have and look after who we love. Here’s to 2021. Tobias Visuals
07.01.2022 Just days now until the Prime Minister's cuts to JobKeeper hit local workers. To those that I mentioned in my speech and for those that have contacted me since - thank you for sharing your story. I hear you and I will keep fighting for you.
07.01.2022 The Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple is a welcoming and beautiful community facility right here in Carrum Downs It also happens to be the largest Hindu temple in the Southern Hemisphere! The hardworking volunteers are already planning the next project - a community hall providing food to locals who are doing it tough. ... Terrific to visit, as always.
06.01.2022 What federal support do local small businesses need to recover from COVID-19 and the recession? How should federal government foster vibrant Australian and local industries? How can we work together to build a strong, innovative and thriving local Dunkley economy?... To discuss these questions and more, register now for my Industry and Small Business Zoom Forum with federal Shadow Minister Brendan O’Connor. https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLScxkGIMU7qXnJbOkW/viewform

06.01.2022 Off to find some treasure with the kids from Aldercourt Primary School. School kids learn so much in their early years, this new equipment will allow them to engage in more outdoor play which is beneficial to their mental and physical well being. Very proud to support this awesome school with funding.
06.01.2022 Today is Dogs In Politics Day. It’s as good an excuse as any to post some of my favourite Bert and Ernie ‘helping’ out at work pics. Can’t believe they’ve grown so fast! ... #DogsInPoliticsDay
05.01.2022 Chisholm TAFE is so important to our community. Chisholm provides locals with opportunities and training to get good, secure jobs. Our hardworking state members Paul Edbrooke MP and Sonya Kilkenny MP along with Gayle Tierney MP today announced a $67.6 million investment to deliver Stage 2 of the Campus Redevelopment Project - which will provide students with a new modern, cutting edge, multi-level learning facility.... Works are expected to start in July 2021 and create 136 local construction jobs.
05.01.2022 All our volunteers deserve a huge THANK YOU - particularly with everything that 2020 has thrown our way. The six recipients of this year’s Frankston Council Impact Volunteer Awards are truly outstanding representatives of our community. Please join with me in congratulating them not just for these well deserved Awards, but for everything they have done, without thought or expectation of reward. FOR LEADERSHIP: ... As President of Langy Netball Club, Gary Zeuschner has led by positive example, for the benefit of the club and the wider community. In addition to fostering a strong and cohesive club, Gary has spearheaded raising money for Gippsland netball clubs hit by the bushfires and driving the delivery new courts at Lloyd Park. FOR INNOVATION: Tanya Thomas has used her own experience to help childcare with autism and disabilities. Her impact can be seen in the changes to Peninsula Health services for special needs children requiring treatment, safety fences at Frankston Foreshore and all abilities basketball initiatives. FOR TEAMWORK: Frankston North families know how dedicated Melissa Burgess of Frankston North Community Centre is. The Friday Food Playgroup is just one example of the way Melissa has created a safe, welcoming and supportive environment. FOR SERVICE: The definition of service to the community is to not just be a founding member of CSF, but to then spend the next 52 years working for the most vulnerable. That is Peter Lewis’ service and it is extraordinary. FOR INITIATIVE: Through determination, passion and a driving sense of compassion, Helena Blomeley established Donation Chain. Helena now coordinates other volunteers and supports vulnerable members of the community by providing shower facilities, toiletries and clothing. WINNING ORGANISATION (and recipient of $1000 prize) Theodora's Cheerful Givers - an organisation that delivers meals to those in need, but so much more. Gina Poulos is known far and wide for her commitment to treating everyone in the community with dignity, showing love and support for the most vulnerable. Theodora’s Cheerful Givers have not let COVID-19 stop their commitment to serving the community at this time of significant need.
03.01.2022 Making learning more interactive. Ten new interactive touch panels have been installed at Frankston East Primary School to encourage greater adaptability, problem solving and critical thinking. Here's what the junior school students had to say about them:... "They're great!" "They teach us stuff" "They're awesome!" Very proud to support this great school with funding.
02.01.2022 ‘Made in Australia’ is so much more than a brand or a slogan - it’s jobs and livelihoods, it’s our identity. We want to make sure there’s a future Made in Australia - that means ensuring we make and build things locally. Labor has a plan to boost local manufacturing and create jobs.
01.01.2022 Shout out to the incredible Football/Netball Clubs on the Peninsula. Last weekend they completed a 174- kilometre relay to raise money to support mental health programs through Game Changer. Really proud of Pines Football Netball Club, Frankston Ycw Stonecats, Seaford Football Netball Club, Langwarrin Football and Netball Club, Mt Eliza Football Netball Club, Frankston Bombers and @karingalfnc
01.01.2022 Tomorrow at 11am, I’m hosting Anthony Albanese for his first speech of 2021 titled ‘A Better Recovery’. I hope you can join us to hear Federal Labor’s vision for Australia where no-one is held back and no-one is left behind. Zoom Webinar ID: 987 3071 3179... Link in the comments.
01.01.2022 A local woman, 26 years old, with no job, no income, no savings and stuck in Dubai with no family. Today I called on the Morrison Government to take responsibility, do it's job and help Australians stranded abroad get home.
