22.01.2022 HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR 2019 ! Year of the Wooden Pig ! . In Buddhism, the first day of the lunar new year is the birthday of Maitreya - the Future-Buddha-to-be. We began the year at midnight by chanting and praying for the blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to come to all sentient beings around the world. .... This year is also very special as it is the first Tt festival of Pho Hien Padma Association in Bendigo at our official temple. Tt is the Vietnamese word for this Lunar New Year celebration. During the preparation for the festival, we have received massive helping hands from all of our Buddhist friends from Melbourne and Bendigo to make this celebration happen. Our relocation happened during late November 2018, thus we are very newly established in Kangaroo Flat, Bendigo. There are still many things that needed unpacking and set up. Thus, it could not have been such a success without your help. We feel extremely welcomed and contented with the continuous support that we have received over the years from both old and new faces. We would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. . We would like to sincerely wish the Sangha many blessings, to always have sound minds and good health. We wish that you will achieve your goals in helping the worldly beings. May your faith in the Three Jewels remain strong to lead us on our path towards liberation. . We would also like to wish all of our Buddhist friends and families, near and far, a festive spring, filled with joy and happiness. We send our hope and encouragement to all the aspiring Buddhist students, wishing you many successes, growing wisdom, and determination in your practice. . May we all receive the wisdom light of Maitreya Buddha to start the year with bright minds, strong faith, and good fortune. . Namo Maitreya Buddha See more

14.01.2022 The world we used to live in has been changing many things day by day, decade by decade. Some might wish to leave for a better place... and think it would be safe, but some persist to stay and unite to fight in the devastating wildfires. May we still keep strong mind to recover from the dark nights. May we always find dear homes and mates, wherever we locate. May we never lose faith on every step of our way. When together we pray under crepuscular rays, We witness immense raindrops of hope dancing on rolls of hay by the Universe's Grace. Compassion pervades as spillover even from far away, Every single thought and act of kindness We sincerely appreciate.

13.01.2022 Namo Buddha Namo Bodhisatva Dear Saintly Gods and Holy Beings across the ten realms Please bless the Earth and all sentient beings with compassion, wisdom and peace. May all of us have the compassion to overcome our own narrow views and share our love with all people regardless of their backgrounds. ... May all of us have the wisdom to see our weaknesses in ourselves and see the goodness in others. May we all learn from one another in unity. May all of us have peace in our hearts and our minds. May this bring peace to our home and everywhere else on Earth. Namo Amitabha Buddha

11.01.2022 THE LIGHTHOUSE . Spring has never seem so gloomy The clouded sky wore hues of grey Blades of grass swaying lazily... I dream a dream at midday . In a distant land of bliss There, a little lighthouse exist Through thick and thin, fogs and mist Against all odds, this light persists . Many thousands like I are adrift Time changed our ways, realities shift Stuck between the rise and falls of waves Plunging deep in fear, waiting to be uplift . Dreams within dreams kept me from shore So far away from home, our minds we ignore A short moment of clarity is restored Caught glimpse of the light waiting for us, forevermore . Have you tasted tears, salty as the sea Have you listened to your thoughts, changing quicker the tides What about anger? Vigorous and stormy Emotions are tsunamis, I begin to see. . Myriads of miseries, sufferings and sadness Written by a mastermind, along with the positives The creator of all mental states That define my world, love and hate. . Suddenly the lighthouse shines blazingly A reminder where home truly lies Not among waves or above the tides The land of bliss stands strongly within peaceful minds. . 07.01.2022 EVERY VESAK COMES TO REMIND . After the ceremonies and celebration Listening to sutras and poetry A truth is carved in one’s heart ... Prince Siddhartha’s life is a precious lesson. . As the tale of the Four Gates was recited Each direction portrayed a human condition Old age, sickness, death, and liberation Through observations, the Dharma, he realised. . Many have built great castles Lived a life of riches and jewels Battles were fought over thrones Yet all that's left are figures in stone. . Princes seek power, as history told Great kingdoms reside easily in their palms Except for One, escaped his palace, a prosperous life, He seeked freedom from suffering in this realm. . Detaching from his palace and pleasures Rejected all beautiful forms, talent and fame Food and relaxing are bare necessities Attachment to desires must be cured . The story of the prince resounds throughout realms He gained enlightenment and his Buddhahood Shakyamuni Buddha - the world honour one No other can match across universe and time. . He claimed his title amidst the three realms Pass on an everlasting legacy of perfection Not grand temples or glorious statues But a sea of truths for self awaken . From the smallest of thoughts and action Sentient beings suffer without any guidance Thus we vow to follow His wisdom and lessons Slowly and steady through persistent . Every Vesak day, the world rejoices Temples and stupas echo chanting voice Flags of colours flutter in the wind Prayers for peace and compassion to all . Each Vesak festival comes to remind Our progress in practice and countless blessings To have sutras and teachers all around us Each step towards a purer mind. . 02.01.2022 Namo Samantabhadra Bodhisatva . Today, the 21st day of the 2nd month in the Lunar Calendar, is the Celebration Day of Samantabhadra - The Bodhisatva of Great Action. He is the Bodhisatva which embodies determination in practice and conduct. His Vietnamese title is Ph Hin B Tát. Our Buddhist Association was named after Him. . Samantabhadra Bodhisatva is known for being the accompanying Bodhisatva of Shakymuni Buddha, along with Manjushri Bodhisatva. While Manjushri Bodhi...satva preaches Wisdom, Samantabhadra Bodhisatva teaches the importance of Practice. These 2 qualities are essential for a Buddhist student on their path towards Buddhahood. One of His most notable dharma lesson is Repentance. It is the practice where sentient beings reflect, feel remorse and learn from the evil deeds that they have commited in the past. To honour His name and to show our deepest appreciation to His dharma lectures for all sentient beings, we would like to recite his 10 Great Vows: First, to pay the highest homage and veneration to all Buddhas. Second, to preach the virtues of, and to praise the glories of the Tathagatas. Third, to make abundant offerings for the veneration to the Buddhas. Fourth, to repent one's past evil deeds. Fifth, to approve of and rejoice at the merits and virtues of others. Sixth, to request Buddhas to set in motion The Wheel of Dharma. Seventh, to beseech Buddhas to remain in the world. Eighth, to be a zealous follower of the Way of the Buddhas forever. Ninth, to be always in harmony with all beings (bestowing on them gifts according to their needs). Tenth, to transfer all one’s merits to the universal benefit all sentient beings. May all sentient beings have the most precious fortune to learn and practice the 10 Great Vows of Samantabhadra Bodhisatva. . Namo Samantabhadra Bodhisatva of Great Action
