Fortunately Im surrounded by al...l of my Digital Masters Australasia imaging computers, scanners, printers and photo reprography gear - heaven! My company David Myers & Associates was the very first Australian Kodak Professional Digital Imaging VAR (Value Added Reseller) appointed in the late 1980s and I sold the very first Kodak digitally modified Nikon SLR cameras so I guess I am now a small part of this story whether I like it or not! 13.01.2022 A blast from the past number one: Electronic Imaging in the early 90s! I just found this old snap featuring the lovely artist, Brigitta Campbell, Fat Myers, Mac II with 80Mb drive and 4Mb RAM, SCSI Syquest and Zip cartridge drives, 20" Radius Trinitron monitor, Kodak and Nikon 35mm Film scanners, Sharp A3 flatbed print scanner, A4 Wacom tablet and the Kodak DCS 200 digital Nikon in the background! The print was made on our first $25,000 Kodak 12" x 12" 200dpi Dye Sublimation printer!

10.01.2022 When you need to scan thousands of precious historic photographic glass plates... ...along with other old cut film negatives and various frail and outsized post...er media who are you going to call? 10.01.2022 STAR WARS DAY! At Digital Masters Australasia we were honoured to be chosen by Lucas Film to scan all the thousands of Star Wars film stills with our Kodak Pro Photo CD system for the Australian production unit at Fox Studios!

08.01.2022 Digital Mastering is the process of scanning an original first generation camera negative or transparency at maximum resolution to record all the detail captured then perfectly colour correcting, optimising the tonal range and and adding just enough saturation and sharpening for the image to print perfectly. Sometimes the only original is a second generation print which may be faded, stained, bubbled and riddled with embedded dust and scratches. The only option is digital filtering, hand masking with multiple tonal adjustment layers and a LOT of hand retouching. This is called Digital Re-Mastering and if done properly can rescue many an image...

Since 2004 all of our services, proofing and digital master file deliveries have been provided online ...with no personal contact needed so there will be no changes or cancelations here! I cant say that we are an Essential Service but I have a residential / commercial facility so there is no need to travel to work. 03.01.2022 Are your important photo album prints fading away?! I can digitise the prints individually without removing them from the pages! A high resolution digital reprography system allows me to rapidly frame and capture each print so it can be colour corrected. enhanced and printed at up to A3 print resolution.
