23.01.2022 The mental health issues related to lockdown and the pandemic are especially hard for people with depression. The wonderful charity MIND have a 24 hour helpline: 1300 286 463 or for carers on 1300 554 660

23.01.2022 A great end to the 2019 breakfasts with Rolli Pick speaking about the Nature Parks and reminding us how important it is to look out for each other. A huge thanks to Rob and the Cheeky Goose for the venue and hearty tucker. Thank you to everyone who came along during the year. Most of all our heartfelt gratitude to Mal McCann who makes it all happen.

16.01.2022 When I first started my career as an Ambo, there was a bloke on the team in Sale who was famous (or was that infamous) for being able to sleep almost anywhere. If he was heading up the highway on an emergency and he was sitting in the passenger seat, he would be sound asleep within minutes if the "lights and sirens' run was longer than about 15 minutes. In a time when there sure is a lot "light and noise" like right now, perhaps it will help if we just choose to chillax a bit. It is amazing what 10 slow deep breaths can do to help the unwinding process. It is about choosing our pathway

14.01.2022 Not to good with words here, but maybe the message will still get across. Hoping sharing this experience will help someone - Anyone. Edit : Very grateful for t...he responses and replies to this. This video wasn’t for me however. It was to beacon courage to those without a voice. Just as importantly, too the carers in despair. To acknowledge and thank the officer, Bromley Llewellyn - for his sincere, down to earth approach. Genuinely listened, didn’t always agree but VALIDATED my irrational thoughts. Arranged the support and follow up. A true role model. Communication - Validation - Understanding See more

09.01.2022 Especially relevant as we enter stage 3 restrictions again tomorrow. Stay safe everyone.

08.01.2022 Men's Breakfast on line coming soon. Challenge for today. Ring a mate who you haven't seen for a while and ask "owyagoinmaaaate?"

07.01.2022 TOOLS EXPLAINED DRILL PRESS : A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and... flings your beer across the room, denting the freshly-painted project which you had carefully set in the corner where nothing could get to it. WIRE WHEEL : Cleans paint off bolts and then throws them somewhere under the workbench with the speed of light. Also removes fingerprints and hard-earned calluses from fingers in about the time it takes you to say, 'Oh sh*t' DROP SAW : A portable cutting tool used to make studs too short. PLIERS : Used to round off bolt heads. Sometimes used in the creation of blood-blisters. BELT SANDER : An electric sanding tool commonly used to convert minor touch-up jobs into major refinishing jobs. HACKSAW : One of a family of cutting tools built on the Ouija board principle... It transforms human energy into a crooked, unpredictable motion, and the more you attempt to influence its course, the more dismal your future becomes. VISE-GRIPS : Generally used after pliers to completely round off bolt heads. If nothing else is available, they can also be used to transfer intense welding heat to the palm of your hand. OXYACETYLENE TORCH : Used almost entirely for lighting on fire various flammable objects in your shop. Also handy for igniting the grease inside the wheel hub out of which you want to remove a bearing race.. TABLE SAW : A large stationary power tool commonly used to launch wood projectiles for testing wall integrity. HYDRAULIC FLOOR JACK : Used for lowering an automobile to the ground after you have installed your new brake shoes, trapping the jack handle firmly under the bumper. BAND SAW : A large stationary power saw primarily used by most shops to cut good aluminum sheet into smaller pieces that more easily fit into the trash can after you cut on the inside of the line instead of the outside edge. TWO-TON ENGINE HOIST : A tool for testing the maximum tensile strength of everything you forgot to disconnect. PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER : Normally used to stab the vacuum seals under lids or for opening old-style paper-and-tin oil cans and splashing oil on your shirt; but can also be used, as the name implies, to strip out Phillips screw heads. STRAIGHT SCREWDRIVER : A tool for opening paint cans. Sometimes used to convert common slotted screws into non-removable screws and butchering your palms. PRY BAR : A tool used to crumple the metal surrounding that clip or bracket you needed to remove in order to replace a 50 cent part. HOSE CUTTER : A tool used to make hoses too short. HAMMER : Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit. UTILITY KNIFE : Used to open and slice through the contents of cardboard cartons delivered to your front door; works particularly well on contents such as seats, vinyl records, liquids in plastic bottles, collector magazines, refund checks, and rubber or plastic parts. Especially useful for slicing work clothes, but only while in use. Son of a bitch TOOL : Any handy tool that you grab and throw across the garage while yelling 'Son of a b*tch' at the top of your lungs. It is also, most often, the next tool that you will need.

07.01.2022 Next Men's Evening Cuppa on Zoom

05.01.2022 I received this from a great mate - Geoff Moed. looks like a challenge to me. Who else is in? "Hi Mal,... I was just thinking that this weekend all the Mens Breakfast participants could drive to San Remo bakery, anytime from 10am but not in groups, buy something for brekky, lunch or afternoon tea, and then head back over to Newhaven where Beau Vernon will be doing 33 laps of a 3.klm loop around Newhaven to do 100klm in his wheelchair. The normal cost of the brekky could be reduced by the amount of bakery spend and the rest donated to Beau. They could also walk behind, around, in front with 1.5+ metre spacings for some feel good exercise, or just yell encouragement from the sidelines. It would be inspirational and physical and healing!" https://www.facebook.com//a.11572846176/3113949768635820/ Just trying to think outside the square Geoff Moed

02.01.2022 VALE: Colin Grey OAM Below we share the post from the National Vietnam Veterans Museum on the death of Colin Grey. Colin was a strong supporter of the Men's Breakfast and T3 Nights. Colin was a strong advocate for men's mental health from first hand experience and standing shoulder to shoulder with so many men and their families struggling in this hidden health area. He was an amazing man to spend time with, giving freely of his time, knowledge, connections, and insi...ghts. We were blessed to have Colin as our guest speaker at a Men's Breakfast in February 2020. It was an enthralling address about the restoration of his much-loved and extremely rare B24M Liberator at Werribee . Ironically, this was the last time we were able to share a breakfast meeting together before COVID-19 stopped things. The world has lost a truly great and humble man here. Colin lived his life to the fulness of his intellect and abilities despite injuries that could have easily stopped him in his tracks. Colin Grey was an inspirational role model. On behalf of all the blokes of the Men's Breakfast and T3 Nights, we send our condolences to Coral and to his extended family and his countless friends across this world. All who knew him have been blessed and honoured to have Colin touch our lives. Vale Colin. See more
