25.01.2022 What exactly does grounding mean? It seems to be one of the 'it' words used a lot in the wellbeing space at the moment, but what exactly does it mean? Well 'grounding' or 'earthing' is the action that refers to focusing on realigning your electrical energy by reconnecting to the earth. Now how do you do this exactly?! ... Simple! It means walking barefoot on the ground and connecting your body to the electrical energy of the earth's surface. There’s little research behind grounding but smaller studies have reported benefits for inflammation, pain and mood. Studies aside I think we all have all had moments where we have walked barefoot on grass, or run along the sand and felt happier and calmer for it. 'Grounding' in relation to essential oils can refer to replicating this by using 'earthy' oils such as Cedarwood, Patcholi, Sandalwood or Vetiver etc to bring you back to nature and the earth. Or it can refer to the use of essential oils to 'ground' yourself by bringing your attention back to your true self, assisting you to feel confident and content in who you are and returning to a state of balance. Which ever definition you believe we can all benefit from more barefoot walks or balancing our frenetic routines by adding some 'earthy' essential oils to our day.

There are a number of ways to make it last longer though:... Leave your armpits free at night, unless you are suffer from night sweats you can leave your armpits free and easy while you sleep Only apply a thin layer of deodorant paste and let it fully absorb into your skin Give your armpits a break after shaving, not only does it ensure you won't get any irritation it lets your skin recover and repair Keep it in a cool place. Yes this helps! When it is left to get too warm the consistency will change from a paste to a much runnier version, when it's like this you tend to use more. So pop it somewhere cool and save yourself some ! Lastly, keep it away from others, believe me once they try it they will want to use it too!

Why do I fill the little spare time I have away from my day job, from looking after the kids and husband, the household chores and general life 'stuff' to fill it with running a business? Why do I choose to crochet some face wipes or study aromatherapy instead of just relaxing on the weekend?... Why do I choose to spend (what seems like every waking moment) thinking about social media posts, new product creations, deadlines and worrying about customer feedback? Good question! I had this conversation with my husband this morning, having a moment of self-doubt and wondering if all this effort was worth it. I realised I do it because... I want my kids to learn if you are passionate about something you need to take risks, you need to make sacrifices and you need to work hard. I want others to realise that you are not locked into the career you currently have, it does not define who you are. You can choose to do a complete 180 on your career, you can pursue a path which raises eyebrows, if that's what you want. That flipping the bird to your boss and storming out (although tempting sometimes) is not necessary to chase your dreams. You can still take little steps towards your goals in the hope that one day they will lead you to where you want to go. Are these big sky reasons to pursue your passions? Of course they are! But this is what spurs you on during the long hours and makes the sacrifices worthwhile. Do you have a dream career you've always wanted to pursue? I would love to know!

12.01.2022 This is one of my favourite quotes. It’s so easy, especially in our social media filled world, to be caught up in comparison. I see similar businesses to mine with their gorgeous coordinated Insta feeds, their huge follower count, their laundry list of products and some days I end up feeling less than. But in a conversation with my business guru/bestie/graphic designer yesterday about my Unique Selling Proposition (in marketing lingo ) I realised that Plan B Skin Therapy ...is distinct from others as we deeply care about the products we put out into the world. We test and trial and painstakingly consider every aspect of each product we create. We don’t want to be a production line, we want each of our handmade products to be the best that they can be. So that might mean a slow burn for my business, that might mean less followers and a smaller product list but it also means we genuinely care for each of our customers enough to ensure quality and care over quantity. Now that’s something to be proud of I think

08.01.2022 Morning Routine- do you have one? I’ve had an essential morning routine for nearly two years now. It varies in time (and in effort some days!) but I maintain some space for meditation and exercise or stretching every morning. It helps me get into a better frame of mind before the daily onslaught begins!
